Chapter 244
Chapter 244
Shawn was trying to decipher Lucian’s thoughts, “Sir, she might be too good at pretending. Either you’re in denial, or all this is fake.”
“Dig into this man.” Lucian stretched out his hand, pointing to a man in the photo sitting next to a half– naked woman. The man was showing half of his face, and although the photo was somewhat blurry, it was still clear.
“Alright.”
“Also,” Lucian instructed, “arrange for my discharge and have someone keep an eye on Penelope.”
“Alright.”
“Allison, can we meet?”
Allison looked at the message Jason had sent on her phone. In the past few days, Jason had called her several times, but Allison did not pick up. She ignored all the messages he sent
This time, right after the message was delivered, the phone rang again. Allison sighed and answered it. Indeed, she needed to clear things up with Jason. “Hello.”
“Allison, I’m right outside.”
Allison’s eyelashes fluttered. What?
She opened the door, and Jason was standing there. He was holding a bunch of stuff, and when he saw Allison open the door, he flashed a big grin, “Come, see what I brought you?” Then, he walked into the living room.
As soon as he entered the living room, Jason was taken aback by the simple household furnishings. He knew that Allison was not well off and that her mother’s illness might have left them strapped for cash, but he didn’t expect her home to be so sparsely furnished.
The sofa, TV, the makeshift kitchen that connected to the living room, and the table and chairs, although plain, were all very tidy.
Jason felt kind of emotional.
“When you were unconscious, I was at the hospital. When I went again, the doctor said you were discharged. I’ve been trying to reach you these past few days, but you wouldn’t pick up, so I had to come here.”
Allison lowered her head, “Hold on, I’ll make you some coffee.”
As she went to the kitchen, Jason sat on the sofa, looking around Allison’s place. Although the room was simple, he felt its warmth.
Allison washed some fruits and brought out a cup of coffee.
Jason pointed to a family photo hanging on the wall, on the left was a girl in a white dress. Her smile was refreshing, her skin delicate, “This is you, right.”
Allison looked at the only family photo in the house. Two months after this photo was taken, her father and Ricky passed away.
“Yep, that’s me.”
“And this is?” Jason looked at the boy standing on the right, who was a head taller than Allison.
“That’s Ricky. He and my father, they’re both gone.”
Jason was taken aback. He seemed to want to comfort her but didn’t know how.
“Allison, I’ve been thinking a lot these past few days. I genuinely don’t care about your past.”
Holding a cup of coffee, Allison softly pursed her lips, smiling, “Mr. Brummett, there’s no future for us. We come from different worlds. You might not care, but I do.”
“You’re rejecting me, aren’t you?” Although Jason felt a hint of disappointment, Allison’s rejection was something he had anticipated. Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
He knew well that Allison wouldn’t accept him that easily. He smiled and said, “Allison, you can reject me, but you can’t deprive me of the right to pursue you
Allison didn’t know how to explain the gap between them, “Mr. Brummett, you don’t understand.”
Jason interrupted her, “I don’t want to understand those things, I only care about one thing, and that is, I don’t care about your past. I only care about your future.
Allison was a little lost.
