Chapter 212
Chapter 212
A bunch of gals were chinwagging for a bit, mostly about handbags, jewelry, and stuff like that; sometimes the conversation. would steer toward Lucian.
“Man, I’m so green with envy for Penelope. From an average Jane, she’s now the center of attention as Lucian’s bride–to-be.”
“Who in Northfield doesn’t know Lucian?”
“I wonder why Penelope is so darn lucky.”
“I’ve heard she got to be with him only because she saved him.”
“Why can’t I be that lucky?”
“Which woman in Northfield doesn’t dream of becoming Mrs. Lucian?”
Just then, they heard a soft chuckle. They all turned their heads to see Allison leaning against the railing. Allison looked up slowly. leaning against the railing, her voice hoarse: “Lucian must be blind as a bat.” Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
“Hey, what’s that supposed to mean?”
“Yeah, you can’t just badmouth people like that.”
“This woman must be three sheets to the wind. Let’s get outta here.”
After saying that, the women linked arms and left.
Allison was left leaning against the railing, the only one on the large deck.
She stretched out her arms, feeling the sea breeze.
She didn’t know if she was drunk or not. If she was drunk, why was her brain still functioning? Why could she still feel the pain so clearly? If she wasn’t drunk, why did her stomach and throat feel full of the burning sensation of alcohol, and why did her head. feel so heavy?
“Am I blind?” A deep male voice sounded with the footsteps: “Allison, why are you badmouthing me?”
Allison turned slowly, leaning against the railing, looking at the man approaching.
She squinted her eyes as if she couldn’t see clearly and ran her fingers through her wind–tousled hair. Watching the tall man walk toward her, she belched, “Who are you?”
Lucian frowned. “Allison!”
He took a few steps closer, looking at her drunken state: “Tell me it’s not true.”
He preferred to believe that these people were just trying to slander her.
“What’s not true?” Allison blinked, looking at the tall man in front of her. “What are you talking about?”
She pushed against the man’s chest but couldn’t move him. She leaned against the railing, laughing with a strong smell of alcohol. “Are you asking if I’ve had an abortion?” She leaned in, looking at Lucian, her eyes still clear.
She was close to him, and the smell of alcohol hit him.
Lucian looked at Allison in her drunken state.
“I did have an abortion. At that time, I was already more than a month pregnant. I had no other choice.” As she said this, there was
a tearful gleam in her eyes, as if she were talking in her sleep: “I didn’t want it to be like this.”
“Enough!” He couldn’t listen anymore!
This was true!
This woman had really been pregnant with another man’s child! All the information he had found was true!
“Do you find me disgusting too?” Allison lowered her head and gently tugged at the man’s sleeve with her slender fingers. “Lucian, do you think so too?”
Lucian gritted his teeth, looking at her innocent face.
“Indeed.”
