Chapter 21
“Where are you going? Can we come along?” I rolled my eyes because Steven asked that to me so many times now.
“Yes mommy, can we come with you?” I sighed. I can’t believe these two.
“No, you can’t. You’ll be get bored waiting for me.” I said.
Hivo pouted.
“Mama is just going to buy something for a while. Please, can you wait me in the car?” Hivo looked at his father before looking at me again.
“Daddy will be sad, mom.” I looked at Steven for a moment then looked at our son that always seemed to be on his father’s side. I feel jealous sometimes.
“Oh! Daddy is not a kid. He understands me. Right daddy?” I glanced at Steven with my deadly stares. He smiled noticing that if he said no, I would be upset with him. I saw he swallowed several times before he nodded.
“Y-Yes b-babe,” he stammered.
“See son? Daddy understands, doesn’t he? So you should get in the car first and wait until mommy comes back.” I said.
Hivo nodded.
I waited for them to leave before I turned around to buy facial creame.
I know they’ll be get bored if I bring them along so it’s better if they just wait me in the car.
I was about to enter into the store when I met Amanda. We stared at each other.
She’s wearing a maternity dress. I’m wondering who’s really the father of her child.
“Where’s Steven?” She asked.
“Why?”
“Give him back to me. Stop seducing him, b-tch. Our daughter needs him.” I looked at her belly before I looked into her eyes.
Amanda is beautiful. She has pointed nose, round brown eyes and thin lips. But right now, she looks like a desperate woman.
“Get out of my face Amanda because I might slap you even if you’re pregnant.” I want to slap her now but I can’t because she’s pregnant.
“You’re brave considering you’re just a maid.” She smirked at me. “Next time, Steven will be on my lap again and I promise that he’ll leave you like trash.”
Isn’t there a beauty aside from this girl’s face?
“You know what, you’re beautiful Amanda,” I told her. She smiled with pride.
“But it would be nice to sweep the floor using your face.” I added.
Her smile disappeared from her lips.
“Did you scandalize here as well?”
My eyes shifted to the woman I couldn’t believe that I would met here.
“How dare you make a scene here? I know you’re just a maid, but are you really cheap as well?” People around us were looking at us, Amanda was smiling as if she finally got her revenge.
It hurts so much to be told cheap in this situation.
“I’m sorry Mrs. Alvante. But between the two of us, I’m not the first one who make a scene. I’m just defending myself.”
“You know what, you’re stupid. You didn’t go to school? Even high school? Can’t you see? She’s pregnant. But you threatened and fight her. What if she gets stressed and bleeds?”
I wanted to cry.
“Stop being so delusional, gold digger. You’re such a disgrace!”
I didn’t react to what she said. Am I gold digger and stupid?
“It’s disrespectful ma’am, you’re too much. I’m not that kind of woman. If you don’t want your favorite daughter-in-law to be threaten, then please teach her good manners. Excuse me,” I said and turned away.
“What the! HEY! You’re rude!” I heard her but I didn’t bother to look. I’m holding my tears not to fall. I still walked away with my forehead high. I’m just defending myself, and there’s nothing wrong with what I did.
Steven’s mother hates me. Do Steven and I have a future?
I’m afraid to introduce Hivo to his parents. I don’t know if they will accept my son or not.
I knocked on the car’s window and peeked inside. I saw them laughing, I just couldn’t hear what they were talking about.
“Mommy,” Hivo shouted when he saw me.
I smiled back at him. When I glanced at Steven, his eyes were smiling while checking his son’s seat belt.
He looked at me after when I got inside the car.
“Where are the things you bought?” he asked.
“I-I didn’t buy anything babe. I was suddenly dizzy earlier,” my excuse.
“What? Are you okay?” he’s worried.
“Let’s go to the hospital.” I stopped him because I was just pretending.
“NO.. it’s okay. I’m okay. Let’s just go home. I’ll just let it rest.”
He still didn’t seem convinced but he followed anyway.
“Are you okay, mom?” My son asked worriedly. I looked at him and smiled.
“Yes baby. Mom is fine,”
“Does your stomach hurt? Is it because of the fried chicken earlier?”
I couldn’t help but to laugh at what he said. It’s hard to pretend in front of them. But even so, I’m happy that I have them.
“Mommy is fine, love.”
He’s still looking at me worriedly. I just sighed and kissed him.
“Are you tired?”
“No, mommy. How about you?”
Steven is silent while driving but I know he’s listening to us.
“Mommy is fine my love. I’m not tired. Come, lay on my lap. I’ll wake you up later when we get home. I know you’re sleepy.” I kissed him on his forehead before humming the song I sing to him when I put him to sleep.
I looked at Steven because he stopped the car.

“I’m lucky,”
“Why?”
“Because you are the mother of my child, babe. Thank you.”
All of a sudden, all my pain I felt towards his mother and Amanda disappeared. I felt like I was cradled in the sky because of those words he said.
I didn’t say anything. He just started the car. Leaving the place where we stopped. But my heart and my mind calmed because of him.
No, Steven. It’s a thank you for being there for us.
When we arrived at the condo, Hivo was still asleep. It’s getting late so I just cooked for our dinner.
“Are you going to work?” I asked Steven while he was looking at his laptop. I heard him call his assistant earlier.
“Yes babe. I have a dinner meeting later with a client.”
Oh. I cooked too much for dinner.
“Is that so? I’ll just prepare your suits.”
He smiled, “thank you,”
After cooking, I prepared his clothes. I blushed at the thought that I’m acting as a wife now.
“Are you coming home later or are you spending the night at the office?”
“I’ll try to come home later. The company’s anniversary is coming up, so my schedule is very hectic, especially that I delayed all my meetings by one week so I could bond with our son.”
Even though I wasn’t smiling, my heart was screaming with joy. I really appreciate all his efforts for our son. It’s far from what I expected to happen.
“See you later babe,” he said.
“Alright,” I said while standing at the door.
“Why? Did you forget something?” I asked when I noticed he didn’t leave yet
Instead of answering, he closed the distance between us and he suddenly kissed me.
“Goodbye, baby.”
“G-Goodbye!.. be careful,” and I really stuttered in front of him.
When Steven left, I immediately looked around to find something to clean. When you’re really a mom, you become oozy and wanted everything clean and organized.
I entered the kitchen and saw Steven’s phone left on the table.
He forgot to bring it.
I took it and I saw his wallpaper. It was the picture of the three of us in the house that Hivo and I used to live in. I smiled.
Then, I saw a message pop out.
I didn’t intend to read it but I saw the message accidentally. I saw what Hannah’s message to her brother. The message that made me nervous.
Can’t the wind really go along with what I want to happen? There’s always an obstacle to everything and sometimes it is unstoppable.
What will happen to my son? To me?
‘Steven, where are you? Mommy is crazy. He will marry you to Amanda.’ – Hannah
