The Billionaire's Forbidden Longing

Chapter 34 Familiar Code

Allison woke up the next day, blinking at the hospital room ceiling, totally confused. 'Why am I in the hospital?' she wondered.

She tried to move but felt sore all over. 'Must've been a fever,' she thought.

Taking a deep breath, she looked around. She was in the VIP room. Alexander must've brought her here.

Just then, the door swung open, and Alexander rushed in. "You're awake?"

He touched her forehead, relieved to find the fever gone. He finally relaxed.

Thinking about last night, when Allison was feverish and crying, made Alexander's heart ache.

Allison smiled weakly. "Thanks, Mr. Carter, you saved me again!"

But Alexander wasn't having it. "If you stop making me worry, that'd be thanks enough!" He helped her sit up, handed her some water, and opened a thermos to serve her some porridge. "Thalia's handling the lawsuit. You just focus on getting better and studying, okay?"

Allison nodded, sipping water and eating obediently. Her compliance made Alexander's heart soften.

"I wanna go home," she said after eating.

She knew her body well. She'd been overworked, her back injury untreated, and the weight of a five-year-old incident had been dragging her down. Now that the burden was lifted, she felt relieved.

Since she felt better, so staying in the hospital seemed pointless.

Alexander didn't argue and arranged for her to be discharged.

Back home, Felicity was waiting. Seeing Allison's pale face, she felt heartbroken. "How'd you get so sick? Go lie down, I'll make you something good to eat!"

Allison had just settled in her room when Cleo called. "Allison, Dr. White needs your help!"

Allison quickly booted up her computer and logged into Benjamin's internal system. "Tell them I'm ready to assist!"

Meanwhile, Alexander was heading to the Carter Group.

"Mr. Carter, this is Dr. White's first system test. I've sent the link to your phone, you can track it throughout"novelbin

Alexander nodded, opened the link, and watched the data flow.

Lines of code scrolled past. Alexander's frown gradually eased. The first phase of the test wasn't going smoothly. Integrating Benjamin's medical diagnostic system needed a top-notch programmer. Alexander watched for two hours. The coder didn't stop, trying different approaches to overcome obstacles. This wasn't just any computer engineer.

"Find out who this programmer is," Alexander said.

James called Benjamin, and the response shocked him. "Mr. Carter, Dr. White says the system designer is from Genesis Creations!"

Alexander's eyes widened. No wonder the technique felt familiar; it was her!

Allison focused for three hours, finally integrating the first phase of the program. Benjamin was thrilled with her skills.

Cleo said, "Allison, Dr. White looks forward to meeting you!"

With the task done, Allison sighed in relief. After lunch, she headed to school.

Mia was the most excited to see her. "Allison, you're finally here!"

Rumors had been flying around school, thanks to Sophia. They said Allison sent Sophia to jail over trivial stuff, calling her excessive and cruel.

Mia had been arguing with students from other classes over the rumors.

But Allison didn't care about the gossip. She knew the truth would come out, and the court would deliver justice.

At dinner, as Allison and Mia walked into the cafeteria, someone suddenly knelt in front of Allison. "Allison, please, let Sophia off! She's just a kid; she can't go to jail!"

It was Madeline, and her desperate pleas shocked everyone. Gone were her previous insults, replaced by continuous kowtowing.

Allison stayed calm. "Mrs. Brown, everyone knows actions have consequences. It's not up to me; Sophia broke the law, and I can't help a criminal."

Madeline thought begging might scare Allison into giving Sophia a mediation agreement, reducing her sentence. Maybe with Ronan's help, Sophia wouldn't have to serve time.

But seeing Allison unmoved, Madeline got angry. "Allison, don't be so arrogant. Sophia messed up, and we're willing to make it right. Name your price!"

Allison looked at her coldly. "Sophia's jail time is her own doing. I don't care about money. Leave now, or I'll call the police."

Hearing that, Madeline got furious and lunged at Allison, aiming to slap her.

But before she could, someone pulled her away and threw her back.

"Attacking someone on campus, Mrs. Brown? Do you want to join your daughter in jail?" Alexander's appearance stunned everyone, including Allison. Mia said indignantly, "Uncle Alexander, this woman is awful. If it weren't for you, Allison would've been hit!"

"You!" Madeline recognized Alexander and remembered Nolan's warning that the Brown family couldn't mess with him. She left in a hurry.

The teachers arrived late and paused upon seeing Alexander.

Standing at 6'2", Alexander exuded an imposing presence. His striking good looks and cold expression made him even more remarkable.

"I'm here to see Allison! I don't want to see this happen again. If anyone bothers her, I won't let it go!" Alexander said, taking Allison's hand and walking out.

"You came to see Allison, what about me?" Mia felt abandoned but quickly turned her sorrow into appetite and went to eat.

Alexander pulled Allison through the empty campus. Everyone was in the cafeteria, so it was quiet.

"Are you okay?" Alexander asked.

Allison nodded. "I'm fine, thanks for your concern, Mr. Carter."

Alexander smiled slightly, thinking Allison was still a little porcupine full of spikes.

Then, Alexander suddenly reached out and gently pulled Allison into his arms. Her body stiffened, and her expression showed shock.

She instinctively wanted to resist but was held tighter by Alexander. "Don't move, I'm just hugging you, I won't do anything else."

In truth, Alexander couldn't help himself either. He savored the precious embrace, cherishing the warmth of the moment.

A few minutes later, Alexander let go. Allison's face was flushed, and seeing her shy, Alexander felt very happy. "I'll take you to the cafeteria, and I'll pick you up to go home tonight!"
