TWENTY ONE
“Ugh, Cayne, this is really not necessary now,” I whined like a four year old, trying to shield my eye from the glaring flashes of paparazzi cameras.
Lately, Cayne and I have been all over the news. We had been in every popular magazine known worldwide. It’s like our relationship was a pretty big deal.
And the reason why I was whining and complaining is because Cayne wanted to meet my parents. Which is really an absurd idea. I haven’t seen them for ages now. And I don’t want to know how their life is now because I’m not interested.
After our very heated office make out two weeks ago- a make out so intense that I was literally close to giving up my virginity to him, before pulling away and telling him no- we had spent everyday together ever since. And then he popped the dreaded question. ” Why don’t we go meet your parents?”
I told him that I don’t know where both of them live now because they were separated for a long time but he said he already got that. He said he got it worked out, thanks to Lucas , his driver and personal assistant, I guess.
I knew it was only fair for him to meet my parents because I already met him, but for my side it isn’t really necessary. I have already drawn in my mind for a long time now that I don’t have parents because of what they did.
I don’t know if they knew about my relationship with Cayne Shelton, even though it’s all over the news now.
We were now walking hand in hand towards his limo. Lucas had the door open for us.
The paparazzi shoved their faces against the thick glass of the car, looking oddly inhumane as they did.
When the car started moving, I frowned at him.
“Do we really have to do this today?” I groaned. But he just grinned angelically.
“Yes we should. You already met my parents, and I think it’s time for me to meet yours too. I just wanted to get their blessings.”
I rolled my eyes to what he had said. Blessing my foot. As if they care who I am with or whom I will marry. They left me without thinking if I’ll survive without them or not.
To be honest, I’m not worried because Cayne will meet my parents. The thing that I am worried about the most is myself. What will be my reaction? I don’t know what I will feel. Should I be happy? Or be angry? I don’t know.
“Besides,” Cayne continued, ignoring my scowl. “My parents wanted to invite your family to have Thanksgiving with us,” If I hadn’t been sitting, I would have fainted by now.
“W-what?”
Cayne grinned. “Don’t be too nervous, honey. We can handle meeting your parents.”
I shook my head slightly, trying to clear my thoughts as we pulled into a driveway of a fancy restaurant.
As we got down from the car and walked inside the restaurant, my heart beat faster than it’s usual beating.
Cayne’s hand held mine and it made me feel like superman. I took a deep breath as we walked towards a table with two grown ups sitting comfortably. My parents.
Seeing both of them makes my heart boil with so many emotions. I don’t know what to do. It feels like I wanted to cry and hug them both, but on the other side I wanted to yell at them and be angry.
When they notice that we are approaching them, they both stand and smile at us.
I breathe and calm myself. The woman, my mother, 5’5 with dark hair that caressed her collarbone and skin like dark brown, flashed a huge smile and reached to hug me tightly.
I was frozen by her sudden action towards me.
“Oh, Kein, I miss you so much,” she breathed.
I just nodded.
“You’ve grown so fast, honey.” A man in his 50’s spoke. My father. He went to hug me also.
When they already let me go, they both looked over my shoulder. I also looked back and saw Cayne standing behind us. Smiling.
I went to his side.
Even though I don’t want to meet my parents, I still want Cayne to officially meet them to end it all. Honestly, I don’t want to have any connections with them. If it isn’t because of Cayne, I would rather die than meet them.
“Oh, I want you to meet my husband, Cayne Shelton. Cayne, meet my.. urm.. parents.”
Cayne went to my parents to give them a hug.
“It was nice to finally meet you ma’am, sir.” Cayne introduces himself with a wide smile.
“It was an honor to finally meet our daughter’s husband.” My father replied.
“Please just call me Mama Mercy,” my mother grinned widely at Cayne.
After the short introduction between my parents and Cayne, we then seated at a round table. My mother was sitting beside my father and Cayne was sitting beside me.
My parents were happily chatting with Cayne while I was silent the whole time. I just don’t feel the area by that time. It feels like I don’t belong there or something.
When Cayne noticed that I wasn’t talking, he reached for my hand and slightly touched it. I suddenly looked at him and he smiled at me. I also smiled at him and mouthed that I’m fine.
“So, how long has it been since you two got married?” My mother asked.C0ntent © 2024 (N/ô)velDrama.Org.
“Just recently Mama Mercy. It was just a simple marriage though. Both of my parents didn’t even know that I got married to your daughter.” Cayne smiled while pressing my hand gently as he looked at me.
“Oh. And why is that?” My father asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Why do you care?” It was a sudden question that came out from my mouth without even thinking. It’s like I wanted to ask for it for a long time.
“Kein!” My mother raised a voice to me.
“What? You think it’s just fine for me for you both to show up here like nothing happened?” I also raised my voice.
“How dare you raise your voice to me that way. Is that how we raised you?” I laughed at what she had said.
“Oh c’mon. How the hell can you say about raising me? You both left me, remember? You dad left us for someone else, and you mom left me because of dad.” I shouted. Mixed emotions were boiling inside me. Like if I wouldn’t say those things I would explode anytime.
“But we didn’t do it for ourselves.” My father responded. I looked at him with so much disgrace.
“Oh yeah? Are you joking? You didn’t do it for yourselves? Then to whom?”
He didn’t answer. He kept quiet.
My tears suddenly fell down one by one. Cayne held my back.
“You shouldn’t have shown yourself here. Where did you even get the guts to face me.” I then stood up and walked outside the restaurant.
I even heard my mother calling me but I didn’t bother to face back because I am badly hurt. I might say worse things to them if I stay any longer.
I went inside the car and seconds later Cayne followed inside without saying anything.
The car started moving to Shelton’s residence. And both of us didn’t bother to say anything. I think Cayne wanted to ask many questions but he still seemed to hold it because I might burst into tears.
Minutes of travel, we finally arrived at the mansion and I went to my room. Once I closed the door, my tears started falling. One by one. And pain is almost killing me.
How could they?

3rd Person POV
Anica had her lower lip stuck out in a pout, her eyes wide and pleading.
“Please, Daddy?” She begged the older man sitting in front of her.
He sat beside his desk, rayed back in a huge chair, frowning at his daughter.
“We can’t risk that,” he firmly responded. “You said Lincoln isn’t willing to kill her because it resembles his first love. And if Lincoln is watching over her, then it might get you in trouble if he finds out what you did to her.” He shuddered.
Anica frowned. She knew Lincoln’s name struck fear in the heart of every mobster and crime lord in the city, but she still needed this done.
“You’ll just have to do it quickly. No one will ever find out, not even Lincoln. C’mon dad. Don’t you want me to be happy?”
“No,” he said, finality in his voice. “Just find someone else honey. Someone who will love you for who you are. There’s a lot of guys out there who’re better than Cayne Shelton.”
“No, no one is much better than Cayne. He’s mine from the very start.” She gritted her teeth.
“Honey–”
“Fine,” she snapped her feet. “If you don’t wanna help me, then. I’ll do it myself then.” She then stamped out of the room and slammed the door behind her.
Okay. No one will help me. I’ll kill that bitch with my own hand then.
No! I must excel another plan. I can’t let this happen no. please!
Time for Plan B.
