The Babysitter

Chapter 19: Paint

Chapter 19: Paint

Chapter 19: (Aubrey's POV)- Paint

After lying in bed for about half an hour, I got bored. Yeah, that's an issue. I'm tired but I'm bored of just

lying there.

"I'm bored, let's do something." I rested my chin on the back of my hand which rested on the pillow

while I lied flat on my stomach.

"I thought you wanted to lay in bed?" he laughed while putting his phone aside while I did the same.

"Yeah, that was before boredom hit me." I shrugged nonchalantly.

"What do you want to do?" he chuckled while lying down, mirroring me.

"Paint."

Confusion instantly formed on his face as his eyebrows knitted.

"Let's paint," I said the first thing that came to mind.

"Okay," he laughed. "We'll do it in the backyard, so the house doesn't get messy," he shrugged before

getting up while I did too.

I grabbed the hem of his shirt and tied it around my waist to prevent it from blowing around due to the

wind outside.

Before getting outside, we stopped at the closet behind the stairs to grab paints I assume. There were

only two canvases left, lucky us. We both grabbed one each while he grabbed the paints and I took the

brushes and then headed outside. We set them down on the ground with a sigh before just staring at

the canvases for a moment.

I stared, thinking out what I'd paint before it hit me. I just decided to paint a sunset with clouds. So I

grabbed the paint, and paintbrushes and poured orange and yellow paint all over the canvas.

He was still standing there and I was almost done with my background. I finished and now had to wait

for it to dry. "Are you even gonna paint?" I laughed while wiping my hands with a rag that we had

brought.

"Certainly," he nodded before grabbing the bottle of blue paint and dipping his brush in it before

splashing the brush right on me.

I gasped while turning my head to avoid any getting on my face. "Parker!" I screamed while looking

down at my clothes. Technically his, so his loss, not mine.

"Oops," he shrugged carelessly.

I acted on impulse and grabbed the red bottle but before I could grab a brush, he took all of them. The

whole pack. So I turned to my next option. My hand. I dipped my hand in the bottle gathering paint,

splashing it straight on him.

"You're dead, Carthy," he threatened, his voice calm.

"Oops," I shrugged. I saw him gathering more paint in his hands and began moving my feet, running as

fast as I could, all around the huge backyard. I rang and I ran, ignoring him behind me or at least trying

to, increasing my speed just as he was about to get me.

I saw the huge oak tree and ran up behind it. I was about to run around it but he came out from the

other side and wrapped his arm around my waist before I could get away. "Hello," he grinned down at

him.

He re-dipped his two fingers in the blue paint before rubbing them on my cheeks. "First here," he

smiled while applying paint on my left cheek. "Then here," he finished by applying it on my right.

"My turn," I smirked. Before he could run, I dipped my two fingers and ran two streaks down his cheeks

as he had done to me.

"You're lucky I put your clothes in the laundry," he smiled at me.

"Point me to the shower will you?" I spoke sarcastically. He put the paint down but his grip on my waist

didn't falter, not one bit. "You planning on letting me go?" I raised my eyebrows at him.

"No," he shook his head with a goofy grin on his lips. Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.

"Let me go, Xavier! We should wash this off before it dries." I tried wiping the paint off with my sleeve

which only resulted in Xavier laughing.

"You just smudged it everywhere," he laughed before taking my hand and the sleeve and wiping the

paint off my cheeks. "There," he smiled.

I used the other sleeve to wipe it off his cheeks. "There." I smiled mockingly.

He shook his head before letting me go.

"Are you gonna take your masterpiece inside?" I questioned sarcastically while looking at his empty

canvas.

"You know what? I will," he nodded before wrapping his arms around me, picking me up bridal style,

making me squeal and burst out laughing.

I pleaded with him to put me down but did he listen? Of course not, he's Xavier Parker.

We were laughing as we made our way into the house to see Catherine coming in with groceries in her

hands. She looked at us and froze. We looked at her and froze. I was expecting Xavier to drop me flat

on my ass but he didn't.

"Hey mom," he greeted her, gently putting me down on my feet.

She seemed amused yet a little angry since we were on the verge of getting paint everywhere.

"Shower. Both of you, now!" she demanded while hiding her amusement which her eyes weren't doing

a very good job of.

"Both of us, mom?" Xavier smirked.

She closed her eyes, losing patience while I smacked his arm. "Aubrey, you can show yourself to the

guest bathroom," she glared at Xavier who was standing there, biting back a laugh while I did the

same.

"Yes Catherine," I managed to contain my laughter and sprint up the stairs. Before I went into the

bathroom, Xavier came up and handed me my clothes. "Thank you," I smiled and just as I was about to

go into the bathroom and lock the door, he grabbed my wrist, spinning me around to face him.

Before I could spit out any words of confusion, he pressed his lips to my cheek. My eyes widened in

shock before I got myself together.

"I had fun," he scratched the back of his neck with a faint blush tainting his cheeks. It was not the paint,

it was definitely a blush.

"I did too," I blushed before giving him a quick kiss on his cheek and swiftly going into the bathroom,

locking the door shut. I heard him chuckle before I heard footsteps fading away.

I let the smile form on my lips before touching the spot where he kissed me, feeling tingles and fire on

my skin.

I snapped out of it and got into the shower, rinsing my body of all paint before wrapping a towel around

myself and getting dressed in my clothes from yesterday. Now clean and dry clothes, from yesterday.

I opened the door before towel drying my hair and leaving whatever was left to dry before heading out

and downstairs. I opened the door and was greeted by Xavier sitting at the beginning of the flight of

stairs with his chin resting in the palm of his hand.

I walked up behind him and knocked on his head. "Hey, what're you doing?" I sat down next to him,

looking straight at him instead of what he was looking at.

"Third-wheeling," he continued looking straight ahead and when I did, I found Robert or officer Clarke

as I will still call him, handing a bouquet of lilies to Catherine.

"Hmm," I nodded, watching the couple so obviously in love.

"They're her favorite," Xavier spoke sourly.

"Don't be such a sour wolf." I nudged him.

He looked at me completely lost and confused. "Such a sour what?" he looked at me with

bewilderment.

"It's a Teen Wolf reference, nevermind, all I'm saying is don't be sour about it." I waved my hand

dismissively.

"My mother is finding love again," he sighed with a small smile while leaning his head on my shoulder.

"Congratulations," I sighed and leaned my head on his.

He took in a deep breath. "I wonder when I will."

I looked down at him to see him looking at me. I smiled before letting out a small laugh. "Are you

looking for it?" I raised my eyebrows at him.

He shrugged casually. "I want it. So I guess, yeah." He looked back at his mother and Robert.

"I get that you want it, so do I. Just don't look for it. People tend to find things when they don't look.

Things they want. Those things come easier when all you do is your own thing." I shrugged.

"I've never wanted it until now," he leaned his head back on my shoulder.

"Me neither, Parker." I bit back my smile.
