Chapter 44
Chapter 44
" Hey bitch! What's up? " Alex strolled into Liam's office leisurely. Liam on the other hand, ignored his presence totally and continued typing on his laptop. " That's rude you know, I'm here " Alex whined, helping himself to a seat. Liam finally looked up " Oh you're here asshole, what do you want this time? " Alex crossed his hands over his heart " Ouch you wound me my pet, can't I visit a friend? " " Your so called visits doesn't come without issues so spill it " Liam sneered Alex laughed, putting his hands up in surrender " Okay, there's nothing wrong, I just popped in to say Hi and also ask how things are going with a certain doe eyed lady " He winked Liam rolled his eyes at his friend's attempt to be nice " Don't try to pretend you care, asshole " Alex pouted " Ouch you wound me Liam, of course I care! " He whined like a baby. Liam sighed " Oh damn, I'm tired of you already, please show help yourself to the door, I have a company to run " Alex threw him a glare " I do too idiot, but still find some time out of my ever busy schedule to visit you so cut me some slack, dude " Liam finally gave in " Okay do whatever pleases you but do not disturb me or you'll go out of that door with a black eye. Wouldn't want to put you in an embarrassing position with your employees now, would we? " He said threateningly and went back to work. " You're harsh! " Alex whined again, not minding his friend's empty threat. " I'm just trying to ask after your well being but this is what I get in return for my kindness? " He added with a pout. Liam sat back in his chair and regarded his friend for some minutes " Okay you win, you wanna know what's going on, right? " " Of course! " Alex exclaimed, stroking his neatly shaved beard. " We're cool actually, we get along pretty well these days " Liam said with a dreamy smile on his face. " That's a relief really " Alex smiled. " I know " Liam said, agreeing with him this time.
A comfortable silence ensued between them until Alex broke it, starting to get bored. He started " There's this girl I met recently... " Liam cut him off " Girl? Which girl is it this time? " " Chill and let me explain, will you? " Alex threw him a playful glare. " Okay then, shoot " Liam muttered. " She was at your wedding too " Alex continued while Liam stared at him blankly. " Who? The girl? " He asked frowning. " She's definitely a close friend of ours if she was at the wedding, just who exactly is she? " Liam's frown deepened. " I later got to know that she's Carla's best friend " Alex's eyes gleamed with excitement as he said this. Liam nodded, absorbing what he just heard " Wow that's... a surprise " " Yeah, it definitely is " Alex agreed. " Her name is Jenny, Jenny Will " He added, his whole face lightened up at the mention of her name. " So? " Liam raised an eyebrow and crossed heavily muscled arms just below his chest area. Alex stared at him like he couldn't believe Liam actually replied in a nonchalant way " So what? " " Dumbass, so what's up with her? " Liam snapped at him. Alex sighed " Nothing at all, I just haven't been able to stop thinking about her ever since I laid my eyes on her " " Yeah right, you have a soft spot for her, so do you to every human in skirts so what's new? " Liam asked with a snicker. " She's different dude, way different " Alex said, trying to convince Liam that what he felt for Jenny was different. Liam dropped his pen and applauded him " Great, now tell me what made you think she's different from the other girls " Alex gulped and shifted a little bit on his seat, wanting to convince him at all costs " I wouldn't think about her so much if it were any other girl... "
Liam muttered " I think that's because you've not gotten into her pants yet " Alex glared at him but didn't commented on his words as he continued " My feeling about this girl is unique, I've never felt the same way with any other girl " He sighed dreamily. Liam rolled his eyes, not believing him one bit " The same way you said you felt about Julianne " Alex chuckled wryly " This is different. Unique " " Yeah sure " Liam replied sarcastically and went back to work while Alex busied himself with his phone. An hour later, he took his leave with a promise to be back soon. Liam had grunted in response, not bothering to look up. He worked, losing track of time in the process. He finally got up a little bit past lunchtime when his stomach growled. He checked his wristwatch and decided to go grab lunch and take a break before resuming back to work. He grabbed his suit jacket and headed to the door. A knock came and he frowned, wondering who it was because Amanda came in not too long to drop some files so he had no idea who was at the door. Anyways, whoever it was and whatever the person may be after, it would have to wait because he was damn hungry. He only had a cup of coffee at home in the morning while Carla tried to persuade him to eat the breakfast she made but he refused, saying he had lots of things to do at work. She had whined, saying she went through lots of stress to get the food done but he had pecked her on both cheeks with an apology, promising her that he would make up for it in the nearest future. The soft knock came again, jolting him out of his reverie and he opened the door. He met a beautiful, unexpected surprise because Carla stood there, her chin held high, looking every bit the wife of a powerful billionaire. Têxt belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
