Chapter 205 The Rugaru
In all the times that I have gone on a Hunt with the Winchester boys, never have I truly been as scared as I am feeling now. Now, I do not see why I should fear, but as I see this creature coming from the darkness, I am taken aback by only one thing…NôvelDrama.Org owns all © content.
He looks like a man.
Yet let us not forget that part for most of these creatures does, but this one, he seems have crawled up my spine in the most awful way. I cannot understand why I am feeling such great fear, perhaps because I know that right now, for this very moment, I am not the most powerful creature on earth.
So looking at this humanoid with wormy skin, a rather rotted set of teeth, and blackened eyes, I know that this one is going to be far more grizzly to take on. To make himself just that bit more ominous, he seems to not care for a great deal of blood that is covering half of his face.
And as I look down to his poor victim, well, all I can see, I can easily count how many bones she has in her body. This Rugaru seems to have been quite hungry, but if you do look at the size of him, you can truly understand. Now I am a fairly average build and with the required toned muscles to make me look like a fairly fit man, but this one that is standing hissing through his teeth, he seems to be twice my size.
Not trying to be the opening act of what we are about to face, I turn to Dean, “Why did you not tell us they come so goddamn large?”
“They come in all shapes and sizes,” Dean explains, “We are just the lucky bastards that get the biggest one.”
“So what is it going to be then?”
“What?” Sam looks at me as he slightly cocks his head, “Do you want to draw straws and see who is going to take him on.”
With nothing but a trembling as that has now grown far more scared than before, I only but blow him off, “The plan is to take him out as a group.”
And at the very mention of the word, I watch has the animal is sizing the situation up. There is no clear way through the barrier that we have created without bodies. He is continuously stepping one step forward, and then he takes one step back. He aims to break through the wall and leap off into the dark of the night down Oxford street.
But we have far greater plans for him.
So stepping one step forward, weapons in hand.
The Rugaru leaps one step back, going further into the darkness.
I look at Dean; Dean looks at Sam, “This is not going to work.”
But as we find ourselves in conversation, the Rugaru heads straight into the wall that is Jacob and Damien. There is a loud gasp as it knocks the air from our Vampire Hunter and drops Damien to the floor.
However, with one step faster, Breyden manages to slam the Rugaru back into the wall next to him, only being able to hold onto him for a brief second.
With absolute haste, the Widchaser boys arm themselves with the enchanted weapons, and we create yet another circle around the creature that has now gone from hissing to a rather intimating growl.
“Move in. Now.” Dean instructs us to move forward again.
But the creature manages to slip through, in one… two… three…
He gets past the great wall, and off he goes in the direction going toward the Station platform.
“Fuck!” There is a universal sound that leaves every man’s lips.
“And now?” I look at Dean rather annoyed. “I thought you said…”
“Well,” Dean snaps back at me. “I said wrong. No, let us go find this thing.”
“And how do you intend to do that?”
He only looks at me and chuckles; I know that it is about to come, “You are the only one here that has the sense of a hound.”
“My dear friend, did you just refer to me as a dog?”
He does not get a single word in, for from a distance through the opening; we hear the screams of what seems to sound like a man.
“Fuck!”
With that, we tuck our weapons away and rush in what can only be said as lightning speed towards where the sounds came from.
As we find ourselves only but halfway through the tunnel towards the platform, we find a man lying on the tracks. The moment Sam lifts his head, there is nothing left of him, but only some pieces of meat and not much of anything else.
I nearly gag.
What the hell?
I need to explore what is happening to my body, but only after this Hunt.
With caution, we proceed down the tracks, and as we get two-thirds of the way, we see what looks like a maintenance area.
Sam stops and looks at the group, “In there.”
“You surely must be crazy,” I hear Jacob speak for the first time speak. “I am not going into another hole.”
“Then,” Dean raises his voice, “You can stand outside and see that nobody else comes down this way.”
Leaving Jacob behind, we squeeze through the opening, one by one, in only but silence, for we are truly hoping that we are not walking into an ambush. Not that I know if these creatures are clever, but from what Dean said that they do contain some of their memories after they have turned.
Ya, I wish it was a Vampire that has turned and not…
“Watch out!” The echo comes from Damien’s voice, and instantly from behind us, the creature comes crashing into Dean and me with such great force that we both land dead on our asses.
“God,” I scream.
“Fuck!” Dean yells.
The beastlike man is coming down on us. With each ticking second, his face is growing closer and closer to the very parts that he wants to feed.
I look at Sam that is rushing over, “Has this goddamn thing not eaten enough?”
Damien chuckles.
Breyden slaps him against the head.
All chaos is erupting as we are about to become a late-night snack.
With great difficulty, Dean tries to reach for his weapon, but the beast has him pinned down to the floor. The moment I am free from his tightening grip, I reach over, and with no success do I get the Rugaru off Dean.
As Damien joins Sam, who is now next to me, the animal rips away from my grip and heads even further down into the tunnel.
As he sets forth, I can almost swear that the thing had a rumble of laughter.
I guess we are now playing cat and mouse.
Finding Dean finally standing up, I can say that the shit fear I had in my eyes is now present in his. So after catching his much-needed breath, he looks into the direction the creature left, “I think we need to go to plan B; trying to kill him with a weapon is not working.”
“Well, that I could have told you five minutes ago.” Yet my words are not even complete, for we hear another scream coming from deep below. “Who on earth is in here at this time of night?”
And as I say the very words, there are two teenagers coming towards us, they are screaming at the top of their pitch. As they finally reach us, the one man mumbles through stuttering breaths, “There is a fucking monster in there.”
Dean waits for the one to calm down and then continues to ask, “Is there more of you down there?”
“Yes, it has some of our friends cornered.” The poor child, scared beyond tomorrow, take a deep breath, “He ripped off her skin.” His voice starts to raise a pitch. “He tore off my girlfriend’s goddamn skin.”
With much irritation, Sam shows the teenagers to leave then. “This is becoming a mess! We are being sloppy! Get yourselves together. Especially you, Lucas.”
Not wanting to start an argument, I ignored his comment and set down the tunnel from where the teenagers had come.
With each step I take, I can smell the blood as it tingles my nose. The sounds of two boys and a girl sharpen my senses as I hear them softly sob. But that is not the only sound that I hear…
In…
One…
Two…
Three…
We turn the corner.
As we come into a small room, that is when we see it…
The creature is hovering over the body of a girl, and with each snap of his head, he is taking her skin apart. But this is not what is terrifying, but is the most, is that you can hear the poor thing choke in her blood.
“Fuck! Get ready!”
