The Agent’s Badboy

Chapter 25 The day she calmed him down

“Boss, the CCTV footage you requested.”

Darko was emailing Yegor the footage and he hangs up his phone and get back to talking to Zasha over the secure line.

“So, how are you?”

“I’ll be fine,”

The underboss knows instantly that she was not fine.

“He beat you up didn’t he?”

“What if he did? I did this to myself, I’m tired Darko. I’m going to sleep now, the doctor patches me up and dosed me with… I’m just… I’ll talk to you later, I’m going to sleep.” She hung up within seconds.

He didn’t like how she sounded, but if he was to take her away, the conflicts would be greater. And with the Albanians creeping behind them Yegor would need support from the whole cartel.

Darko was back to busying himself with his guys doing what Yegor had instructed them the night before. He was to contact the cartel members and make sure they know about their issues with the Albanians. He was to gather all the members and make sure they have their allegiance when the time comes.

Meanwhile, back in the mansion, Yegor was fuming as he watches the CCTV footage of the night before when her shady neighbor visited her late at night. He was counting down the minutes and almost breaks his glass when it reaches more than an hour. He looked at his watch and cursed knowing she’s at work, meaning he has to wait for more than six hours. And that was when he decided to let off some steam in his in-house gym.

It has been a while but he changed to his boxing shorts and sleeveless workout t-shirt. Then he was back to his stretching routine in no time. The music was blasting as he started putting on his fresh hand wrap and start punching on the heavy bag. He powered up his punches, feeling his upper arm and shoulder muscle contract as he hits the bag with a higher force. He was regulating his breathing and builds up his endurance as he starts kicking the bag, while he was incorporating his foot works into the workout.

Yegor kept on imagining the smug face of her architect neighbor, there was something off about him. He could feel it and he did not like the fact that he came over late that night and spend over an hour at hers.

He was still punching his sack when Darko interrupted him, he knows it was something important when he barged into one of his sessions.

“Spill.”

Darko knows that his boss was not in a good mood, and what he was about to say was going to make him abuse the sack even more than he has already done in the last hour.

“We have a face on the Albanian mob boss.”

“Finally, I didn’t get how he has been invisible this whole time.”

“He’s always behind the curtain kind of guy, they say he was being smart…”

“Or just a fucking coward, so… who is he?”

“Agent’s Federova architect neighbor.” Darko didn’t waste any time in revealing the truth.

“Fuck!”

“Yeah, I thought so too, I already sent our guy to his apartment…” Darko put his phone on the console table and put it on speaker. Then they both waited briefly as they were being connected to Nail’s mobile.

“He’s gone, even took the cat with him, but all his stuff is still here. What do you want to do with it?”

“Leave it, wait… shit, forget about it, just trash the place. He must have surveillance on the building probably in his unit also, leave a trace, a very big mess, let him know that we know.”

Yegor was done with his workout session and was discarding his hand wraps while wiping his sweat with his workout towel and told Darko to join him in his office. He was finishing off drinking his mineral water trying to cool off the urge to bash someone’s head off, but the feeling was still there the bottle was emptied.

The mob boss decided to take a quick shower before he joins Darko and the rest of his crew to discuss their next move.

But Karla surprises him with an afternoon text. He took a deep breath before replying anything to her. He didn’t want to slip anything past her critical mind.

He didn’t say anything to her, he did not mention that he knows about her little rendezvous with her neighbor. He just told her that Nail will pick her up after work. She didn’t say anything back, so he assumed that she didn’t suspect a thing.

Though being a very observant agent, she knows that he would send Darko to pick her up instead of Nail. Just by a few words, she had learned that something was going on. That Darko was probably doing more important stuff for him. She was on several deductive conclusions when she finally arrived at his place, in addition when Nail told her that she’s to take her cat with her was also another sign.

“You watched my footage didn’t you?”

She greeted him with a question the moment she saw him at the foyer. He didn’t reply but held out his hand for her and kiss her the moment she was close to him.

“I’ve missed you.” He was calm, and she was cautious.Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.

She knows him already, it was the kind of calm before the storm type of thing and she didn’t like it one bit. She was too anxious to find out what was he hiding under his sleeves.

She didn’t say anything back, she was starting to get irritated as he treated her as if she didn’t know him already.

“… and yes I saw the footage, he was at your place for more than an hour.”

“He was out of coffee, and yes we kissed. Stop, let me explain…” she’s not into the drama, she knew his mind was thinking the worst of her.

Karla could see his hand twitch as if he wanted to punch something really bad.

“We kissed, I stopped him. I know that it was wrong. I apologized, I was carried away.”

He didn’t like her explanation, she could see his jaw clenched.

“So you’re saying you expect me to be fine with you cozying up with your neighbor, late at night, and kissing in the privacy of your apartment?”

“Of course not, I expect you to be jealous. Maybe it’s my way of.. getting back to you for our sudden trip back because of your fiance… or it was my way of testing your jealousy?”

She stepped closer too and took his hand and rubbed his injured knuckles. She kissed his hand and pulled him down for a deeper kiss. He groaned and took her body even closer to him, to which she relents and let him kiss her roughly and hold her waist in a more dominating way.

“Why are you doing this to me?”

“Why not? we’ve been doing this for years Yegor. You should get yourself used to it by now.”

She hated him, deep down she hated the fact that he was still going back and forth with her. Though she was still reluctant in going forward with him, he had obviously made it worse for her.

“You’re the one who won’t quit your job.”

“You’re the one with the fiance?”

“You know I can’t, the cartel…” he sighed in frustration.

“I will be dead, once I quit the agency. I know Nestor Kuznetsova wants me dead.”

“How did you?…”

“I know people, who know people…” she expertly lied to his face. She knows the fact after one day Luka accidentally found the thread about her on the dark web, but no one is touching her since she was still working for the agency.

“I love you, Kiska.”

“I know, that’s why I’m here with you and not with him.”

“So why Nail? what’s so important that…”

“You architect neighbor, he’s the Albanian mob boss.”

“No way, I would recogni…” she stopped in the middle of her sentence, she suddenly remembered his jawline. Last night she was that close to the Albanian mob boss, the one person she was to apprehend.

“That bastard! he’s gone, isn’t he? that’s why I’m here! fucking hell, Yegor! I could kill that mother fucker last night, I was kissing him for God’s sake.”

She was looking furious, and that was all it takes for him to calm down. At least he knows that their feelings towards the Albanian mob were mutual.
