Chapter 15
Elaine POV
“Where the hell have you been Elaine!” Dad roared.
Avena ushered me into the library and locked the door.
I caught Neel’s eye then Nik’s on the leather couch. He slumped forward in the seat breathing heavily. I rushed towards him but Dad snatched my arm. He lifted me off the ground and flashed his wolf at me.
I winced from the Alpha power he used to punish me. I could normally withstand Alpha power but Dad’s rage fuelled his Alpha power.
“I’m sorry okay?” I whispered.
“Blazer first. He’s not healing on his own.”
I hadn’t noticed Blazer on the ground, bleeding out terribly. Dad shoved me forward.
“Blazer,” I whispered, hovering my hands over his wounds.
The corners of his mouth lifted.
“When are you going to stop?” I asked.
He laughed but it was painful. “I’m in love with the thrill, sis.”
“You need to stop being a punching bag.”
“Now!” Dad yelled.
I flinched. I palmed his chest and seconds later my power transferred to Blazer, rushing to every wound. There were many of them. Healing requires lots of energy.
“What the hell is going on?” Neel spat.
No one responded.
I kept pushing out power but the wounds were difficult to heal. The Blood Moon wolves had strong venom.
“Dad…” I winced. “It’s too much… I have to stop.”
“No! Heal him. Do as I say.”
Blazer groaned but his wounds sealed slowly. I felt myself grow weaker and weaker until I collapsed beside Blazer. My limbs trembled and my vision blurred.
“Did it work?” Dad demanded.
“He’s healing quickly,” Avena responded instantly.
Why didn’t she help? She’s supposed to be a powerful witch.
“Someone explained what the hell just happened?” Neel demanded.
I rolled my head to the side and saw my Father breathe easy. He turned to Neel.
“Elaine is a special wolf. She has healing powers.”
Any second my skin would start opening if someone didn’t give me their venom.
“Take her to her room,” Dad ordered.
“But-”
“Enough.” He grabbed me off the ground at the same time blood poured out of my nose.
Blazer’s injuries were worse than I thought. I felt my bones crack and my wolf cry out in pain. Dad dragged me along the hall.
“You fucking whore,” Dad spat.
He kicked my bedroom door open and threw me on the carpet.
“I did want you wanted!” I cried.
“You smell like a male, Elaine. You think I’m an idiot? Did you think I wouldn’t find out?”
Azaire flashed in my mind. I swallowed.
He took a threatening step and I scrambled backwards.
“You’re engaged. There’s no way you forgot. You want to sabotage this me for your brothers!”
I wanted to yell. I wanted to tell him he’s putting my brother’s lives in danger by making them fight Blood Moon wolves. He didn’t give a damn about us. But the cuts forming on my skin stopped me from fighting back.
“You’re as useless as your Mother was. You’re as big a whore as she was!”
Tears stung my eyes. “Don’t talk about her that way.”
“What do you know about her, Elaine? She was my mistress, a common slave I picked up. I should have expected less from her spawn.”
My blood boiled as if I plucked the sun from the sky and consumed it. I leaped off the ground and lunged forward. My Father grabbed my arms and rattled me.
“What are you going to do?” A blast of Alpha power killed my overcharged attack.
I whimpered but kept my gaze on him.
“Where is she?”
“Dead,” he spat.
“You killed her, didn’t you?”
He dropped me. “Forget about venom tonight, Elaine.”
“You can’t do that. We have a deal. I heal them and you help me when my curse is triggered.”
“You don’t tell me what to do, child. Tell that wolf to stay away from you or else I’ll bring you his head on a plate.”
The door slammed behind him.
I crawled on my bed and yelled into the pillow. He was a monster! Then I recalled the wolf enhancers. The packet was all the way at work but I stuffed some in my pocket.
“It’s now or never.”
I brought my hand up from my pocket brought the wolf enhancers to my nose and inhaled. I felt my wolf rise from her deep hiding place. She felt bright and powerful. She felt like the Alpha wolf she truly was. I felt my wounds heal and my bones reconnect. I rolled on my back and exhaled deeply.
“Time to run,” I whispered.
I slipped out of my bloody and torn uniform. I changed into a long loose dress I wouldn’t miss when I shifted.
“Dove, I need you to hide my scent.”
“Elaine, this is dangerous.”
“Taking wolf enhancers?”
“Yeah, you know what happens when a wolf takes too much.”
“It’s temporary, don’t worry about it.”
I poked my head out of my bedroom door. I heard Nik giving orders and the betas responding. The front door was ruled out.All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
“I need to get to work and grab the last of the wolf enhancers.”
Dove didn’t like the idea but we had no choice. I locked my bedroom and tossed on my leg. I stopped and stared at my room. They won’t miss me if I leave for a few hours. I gasped and jumped out of the window and landed in a thorny bush.
“Ouch,” I winced.
Dove masked my scent by blending with nature. I never shifted without pain before so I was scared to transform. I closed my eyes and willed Dove to come out. She obeyed instantly, my limbs cracked but it wasn’t as painful as it normally was. Fur burst out from my skin, I got a tail and I got pointed ears and sharp teeth. Dove was beautiful! I broke into a sprint and ran into the forest.
I passed Azaire and I’s spot and kept on running. My brothers got to do this all the time I only got to shift during the full moon and it wasn’t as sweet as this. I made it to the lodge without breaking a sweat. The lodge was closed for the night so I broke in using the kitchen backdoor.
I found the bag of wolf enhancers where I left it. I cradled it like a baby. With this I was temporarily free. This packet couldn’t last me forever I needed to find out where to get more.
