Chapter 18
ETHAN
As twilight approaches I am getting antsy. I need her back. Now our forces are numbered in the three hundreds. My father didn’t fail. Since Alpha Tyler’s nephew is the one that caused this problem he poured in some troops too. There is no way his one hundred wolves will take us down. I will get her back.
Now it is my turn to make sure that she is safe first and foremost. I pull Curt to the side. “I need you to do something for me. I know you don’t approve of Madison, but I am trusting you here. I want when we infiltrate for you to go straight to Justin’s cabin. I want her to be safe. Don’t fight, just get to that cabin. He might see this coming and try to move her when we attack. I need you to keep that from happening.”
“Dude, isn’t there someone else? You know I am better in a fight.”
“I do know that, but I also know that there is no one that can protect her better, except me. But he is going to be counting on me to run in guns blazing. His focus will be on me, I know Sam won’t leave my side. That means I need you. I am depending on you. You have to get to her and keep her safe.”
He rubs the back of his head. “I’m not so sure I am the best guy to do this, but I’ll follow your lead.”
“I trust you Curt. Keep her safe.”
He nods to me. That is as much of a response as I will get from him. I know I can depend on him.
I leave him to prepare, he has to get in his own mind set. I know it. So I moved over to my father. He is talking to Alpha Tyler. “What exactly was Justin thinking? It looks like a ton of rogues. How can he possibly think that he can control a group like that?”
Alpha Tyler shrugs. “I don’t think he really thought that through. He is angry. He is lashing out. I still have no clue why he took the girl.”
I scoff. “I do, he wants to have a Luna. An heir, to keep his pack together, even if he loses. Just like you did. He has been running this pack under your nose for some time. He has no plan to be a part of your pack. I’m pretty sure that he plans to take his father’s pack back.”
He looks thoughtful. “That would make sense. I could feel him pulling away, I just was too busy running the pack to notice. I figured he would get over it.”
“Well, he decided to get even instead.”
I feel a tap on my shoulder. Looking over I see Connor. “Who let you wander around?”
“Oh, I am being watched, don’t worry about that. I wanted to talk to you.”
I follow him over to the side. Once there is some space he turns to address me again. “I want you to know that I will never stop loving Mads. I don’t care who her mate is, I just want to ask you to wait until her birthday, that way you and I can both be sure. Can you do that?”
“I care about what Madi wants. If she wants me to mark her then I will do it as soon as she asks. I am not waiting again. I should have marked her when she wanted me to the first time. I’m not going to lose her.”
“Just please, Wait until her birthday.”
“Only if she wants me to.”
“THE POWER HAS BEEN CUT.” A call echos through our link.
“It’s time, let’s get her safe, then we can worry about the rest of this.”Content © NôvelDrama.Org.
He nods, but I can see the sadness in his eyes.
