Swept Into a Fairytale Marriage

Swept Into a Fairytale Marriage 45

Chapter 45 Adrian Is a Ruthless Man

Adrian put down his pen after quickly signing the document and closed it before handing it to her.

“Thank you, sir!” Farrah hurriedly took the document and quickly turned around to leave.

Germaine sat down in her seat. She couldn’t help but notice that the CEO seemed to be in a bad mood after Farrah left. His expression was icy.

There was no way he would sign anything with that demeanor. Yet, he just signed off on something for this junior employee?

She felt confused and jealous.

The faces of Adrian and Jordan flashed in Farrah’s mind as she rode the elevator downstairs with the document in her hand. What kind of connection did they share?

Were they half–brothers?

An illegitimate child from his dad’s affair?

That didn’t seem right…. That man looked older than Adrian. Wasn’t the illegitimate child usually younger?

She couldn’t figure it out. It had nothing to do with her anyway. She decided to stop thinking about it.

Natasha looked doubtful when Farrah entered her office and handed her the document. “Mr. Locke signed it?”

“Yes, he did,” she answered casually.

Natasha’s eyes lit up in disbelief. She took a look at the document and broke into a smile. “Oh my goodness! You’re amazing!”

“What is it?”

“You just got approval for a budget that’s 50% over the limit! He would’ve never signed off on that in the past!”

“What?” Farrah’s expression shifted. “Ms. Gray, you set me up!”

Natasha was delighted on the other hand. “That’s not true. It could be due to the strong connection that you have with Mr. Moore! Anyway, it’s done now. Go on and focus on your design for Enduring Moments. Don’t forget to close the door on your way out!”

Farrah wanted to say something, but she couldn’t tell her that this had nothing to do with Corey. She had no choice but to turn around and leave. She couldn’t help but break into a cold sweat. Did she say it was 50% over the budget?

Corey arrived at the deputy general manager’s office with a document in his hand two hours later. He knocked on the door before walking in.

Jordan was speaking on the phone by the window at that moment. He caught sight of Corey and said in a lowered tone. “Let’s leave it at that for now. We’ll discuss it later.”

“Good day, Mr. Locke,” Corey greeted politely and handed over the document. “This is your resignation letter. Please sign here.”

“What?” Jordan stared at him in disbelief when he heard that and didn’t take the document. His eyes flared with anger. “Is he firing me?”

Corey’s expression remained gentle as he smiled and corrected him. “No. It’s a voluntary resignation on

your part.”

Jordan felt as if he had been slapped across the face. His expression darkened. “What did I do? How could he treat me like this?”

“He’s the CEO.” Corey gently reminded him, “He’s the head of Prestige Group.”

Jordan flew in rage and stared at him furiously. However, there was nothing he could say.

“Mr. Locke, we can handle the matter with dignity if you sign it,” Corey said respectfully as he placed the document and pen in front of him.

Jordan knew that Adrian was targeting him. He had no other options now and had no way to push back. This left him no choice but to sign the document despite his frustration.

However, he felt extremely aggrieved inside. He couldn’t swallow such humiliation!

Adrian sat in the chair in his office on the 22nd floor. He looked like he had everything under control as he exuded an air of calmness and seasoned confidence that young men often lacked.

Germaine dressed in a fitted skirt and blazer as she gently placed a plate of freshly sliced starfruit by his elbow. “Sir, have some fruits.” Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.

“Mm.” He didn’t glance at her and was fully immersed in his work.

Germaine glanced at his handsome profile before she turned around and left.

She returned moments later with a cup of freshly brewed coffee and gently placed it by his mouse. “Sir, is something on your mind?”

She couldn’t help but want to care for him because of her affection toward him.

Adrian stopped hovering over his mouse and glanced sideways at her.

Her body was slightly bent as she met his brooding eyes up close. Her heart raced inexplicably as she smiled. “It seems like… you’re not in the best mood today.”

“Focus on your work.” Adrian looked composed and distant as he turned his gaze away. “You tend to mess things up when you’re distracted.”

Germaine felt slightly awkward and had no choice but to turn around and leave. However, she found herself restless once she returned to her seat.

What exactly was going on between Farrah and the CEO?

The thought of Sweet Sun suddenly crossed her mind after a while. She wanted to relieve some of the CEO’s worries.

It would show a lot more sincerity if she could hire this famous pastry chef to make Sweet Sun for Mark. She would certainly earn some credit if they could secure this major deal. Her standing in the CEO’s eyes would surely be elevated by then.

She was m

more than willing to handle these tasks beyond her usual job scope.

That was why Adrian had acknowledged her value when it came to work.
