Chapter 18
Scarletts P.O.V
When Monday rolls around, you're in school you're sitting in Chem. Nervousness sets in as Jayden NôvelDrama.Org © 2024.
moves his eyes over you. You just want to run and hide after last night. Part of you is excited at the way
Oliver claimed you, but also annoyed because he embarrassed you and made Jayden feel badly.
I'm allowed to hangout and flirt with whoever I want. Its none if Oliver's business.
You look back at Jayden who waves you over to him. You glance at the front of the room, aware that
Mr. Jud hasn't come in yet. You rise, grabbing your things and walking over to him before sitting in the
vacant seat to his right.
"Hey."
"Hey..."
Oh my god this is so awkward
You run your fingers through your hair, and clear your throat, before you attempt to fill the silence.
"So, about this assignment"
He shakes his head, tapping his pen on the desk, before he takes a deep breath and turns so he's
making eye contact with you.
"You still want to be my partner, right? Last night didn't deter you did it?"
"I was gonna say the same to you!"
"I'll do it if you will"
You laugh, and nod
"Sounds good"
You both avert your attention to Mr. Jud as he comes trudging in, swinging his old briefcase
"So just to clarify, that guy from last night is not your boyfriend?"
"Nope"
"Then you're available?"
He's asking me out on a date? I did not expect that to happen since what happened last night... Oliver
was incredibly intimidating. Then again, he doesn't know the true motive.
"Yeah, I don't have a boyfriend"
"Do you want to go out with me tomorrow?"
I'm technically grounded, but all it'll take is some convincing from my mom, and I'm sure sure she'll let
me go. The plus about living with a single mother for so long is you know exactly what to say and do to
get out of stuff. Damn... that sounds fucked up. Oh well.
You ignore the voice in the back of your head that says 'what about Oliver' and slightly nod, a smile
spreading on your face.
"Sure, why not? It'll be fun"
He returns your smile, and nods in agreement
"Is there a pace in particular you enjoy?"
You shrug, before naming a few places you like to hangout... and you'd never find Oliver hanging out
in.
"Okay, sweet, should I pick you up tonight? Around 7?"
"Sure"
Hey, I can go on dates if I want. Oliver doesn't control what I do, just like h keeps reminding me that I
can't do to him.
After school, when you get home, you run into Oliver in the kitchen as you're grabbing a snack and he
casts hoss eyes your way, passing over you like you don't exist.
What the hell is that about?
He looks sweaty in a pair of shorts and a damp t-shirt
"What were you doing?"
You furrow your brow as he ignores you and opens the fridge to grab out a bottle of water. He opens it
and downs half the bottle before turning around and leaning against the sink as he stares at you.
Okay... what the hell?
"Are you hard of hearing?"
He rolls his eyes, finishes the water bottle, and glances at you.
"How about you don't worry about me, huh?"
Did something happen with his mom again? Why is he acting like this?
You follow him back outside, spotting the basketball on the grass, and the hoop that now pulled in the
street, it downs on you that he was just playing basketball. You watch as he buries his attention in his
phone, smirking to himself before he begins typing something.
"What the hell is your problem?"
When he's finished texting he looks up and his expression twists into one of annoyance. He shoves his
phone back onto his shorts, before he turns to scoop up the basketball.
"You are. Stop annoying me, and leave me the fuck alone."
Is he being ducking serious right now? After last night...
You give him a dirty look
"Okay, is today be an asshole day?"
He ignores you and starts shouting hoops.
"Well, a big fuck you too"
You begin to turn around just as you hear a horn honking. You peer at the little red car and watch as
some girl waves at Oliver. He waves back at her, and jogs over to the car, peering in. You don't hear
the conversation but you hear the distinct sound of laughter erupting from her, and watch as Oliver rubs
his neck, while grinning at her.
Well, that's fucking great. And I almost slept with this asshole?
Anger fills you, and you hastily make your way back towards the house, thankful you agreed to the date
with Jayden.
And to think, I almost cancelled it for that asshole... he's out there flirting with someone right now.
Probably someone he's already slept with.
You decide to send a quick text to Jayden.
Scarlett: Excited for tonight.
Your phone vibrates with an incoming text and you smile when you read the reply from Jayden.
Jayden: me to. Its gonna be fun.
I hope so. I need a distraction.
You glance at your closet, trying to decide what to wear.
I could wear my jeans and a cute blouse... oh, actually, I'll wear the yellow dress.
Good. I'm not playing these games with Oliver. I'll let him do him, and I'll do me.
