Chapter 29 Leaning on the Big Boss
“Do you need to be so excited?” Iverson looked at her expressionlessly.
Amanda finally caught her breath. “I’m a divorced woman. What do you like about me?”
“We are very suitable for each other.”
“How do you know? How long have we known each other? Do you know me?”
Iverson raised his head slightly. “What do you think?”
Amanda choked on her words, and her face turned bright red. She forced herself to suppress her surging emotions and say, “Mr. Byran, you’ll have to try a few more times to find out the Miss Right for you. You’ve never tried with other women, so how do you know which type of woman is best for you?”
“You mean we need to try a few more times before marriage?”
“That’s not what I meant!”
She finally realized that Iverson was good at guiding the topic during the talk. As they spoke, he deviated from her original intention. No matter the result, it would always be as he had expected.
Amanda felt that Iverson matched the position as the CEO of the Byran Group. He was a top-notch expert in negotiation.
The phone suddenly rang, breaking the awkwardness on the table.
Amanda picked up the call without glancing at who it was. The moment she heard the voice on the other end, her eyes darkened slightly.
It was a call from Halley.
“Amanda, let’s talk.”
They agreed to meet at a cafe in the city center. Because it was open in the morning, there were few customers.
Halley had arrived a long time ago.
Amanda was dressed in a wine-red lady suit. With the addition of her red lips, she looked very imposing. Her high heels drummed rhythmically on the floor as if she was walking on a catwalk, attracting the attention of all the men in the cafe.
Halley almost did not recognize her.
It had to be said that Amanda had changed a lot recently. Her charming appearance reminded him of their time in university. At that time, Amanda was the campus belle, pure and moving.
“Amanda, I ordered your favorite black coffee.”
“Thank you, but I don’t like black coffee.”
Amanda put down her bag and sat upright. “I usually only drink black coffee because I want to keep energetic. There are too many things to worry about as the general manager of the Sean Group, but there’s no need for that now.”
After that, she turned around and stopped the waiter. “Please give me a cup of Caramel Latte.”
“Okay, please wait a moment.”
Halley was embarrassed for a moment, “I know you’ve paid a lot for the Sean Group, and I’m very grateful. But you want to take half of the shares of the Sean Group and so many real estate assets. I can’t agree to this, and neither can my mother.”
“So you think I should leave the Sean Family without asking for anything with my full gratitude and give up my career to you and your lover?”
“That’s not what I meant.”
Halley was speechless and furious. Gritting his teeth, he said, “Olinka is still in the hospital. I never thought of divorcing you. I was playing around with her.”
“Oh? Then should I also apologize to you for my misunderstanding?”
“I know it’s my fault, but everyone makes mistakes. Amanda, can you forgive me once? Let’s not make such a big deal out of it.”
“What a joke.” Instead of getting angry, Amanda laughed. She crossed her arms and sized up the man in front of her at the rope’s end.
“Halley, what’s your purpose on earth? To part with our love for each other and come to me for forgiveness, or just because you have no way to get out of trouble? Are you regretting yourself for making things so out of hand?”
“Of course, it’s because you don’t want to part with our relationship. But do you think it’s necessary to make such a scene?”
“It’s necessary.”
Holly was stunned and said urgently, “Amanda, when did you become so unreasonable? You never cared about this in the past!”
“I didn’t fuss about it in the past because we’re a couple. I’m your wife, the general manager of the Sean Group. Now I’m fussing about it because I’m Amanda Jewell.”
Amanda had always been rational, and the few times she was obedient and considerate had all been left to Halley during these three years of marriage. She believed it was not because she was stupid but because she felt the marriage must be based on trust.
But things were different now. Without these restraints, Amanda was just herself.
“I have already asked my lawyer to draft the latest property division agreement. It will probably be sent to your company in the afternoon. Everything else is no different from the previous one. I just added one more clause. I want the duplex apartment next to Sisson Tower.”
“What? You want a house?”
“Don’t be surprised. I don’t think it’s much as a psychological loss from last night’s fright and hush money.”
Halley looked at the woman in front of him in disbelief.
Was she still the woman who believed whatever he said?
“I have nothing to do with what happened last night. It’s all Olinka’s idea.”
“But you’re on the spot, and I have witnesses. It’s not too much to say you are an accomplice, is it?” Amanda sneered. “Tell me, if the EVP of the Sean Group is detained because of kidnapping his ex-wife, who would dare to do business with the Sean Group?”
“You!” Halley’s face was full of anger. “Amanda Jewell, don’t go too far!”
Amanda took a deep breath and stood up with her hand on the table. “I’ve always wanted to do something, but I’m afraid I’ll be like a shrew.”
Before Halley had to react.
A glass of ice water was poured on his face.
He stood up angrily but knocked down the chair behind him. The ear-piercing sound caught the attention of all the customers in the cafe.
At this moment, ice water was flowing along Halley’s hair. He was no longer an elegant gentleman but a mess and irritable.

Amanda put down the glass heavily. “Mr. Sean, I’m not the one who has gone too far. If you hadn’t forced me into a dead end, I wouldn’t have been able to be reborn again.”
After that, Amanda left with her handbag.
Looking at her back, Halley felt ashamed and angry. He kicked over the chair beside him, turned his head, and shouted, “What are you looking at? Drink your coffee!”
“He must be crazy.”
“That’s right. How can that man be arrogant after being dumped by a woman?”
Halley’s self-esteem was torn today.
Halley grabbed his coat and ran out of the door. When he chased Amanda on the street, he saw Amanda getting into a luxury car with his own eyes.
His eyes suddenly trembled.
If he remembered correctly, that car belonged to Iverson.
He thought that as long as he expressed his goodwill, Amanda would return to him happily. After all, she had no one to rely on in Ducco. She would have to return to a regular working class if she left him.
But now, judging from her tough attitude, she was completely different from what he had expected. Could it be that, as Olinka had said, Amanda was already attached to Iverson Byran?
Therefore, he had long been cuckolded. At the thought of this, Halley’s face turned green.
