Are you capable enough?
Are you capable enough?
Henry parked his car directly at the parking lot of the Stones mansion.
He sat inside his car for a while, even after turning off the ignition. How would they receive him?
Finally, he got out of the car, and approached the doorstep.
Guards weren't even stationed at the entrance. Well, it wasn't as if they needed one anyway.
Who in his right mind, would dare initiate an attack on the most powerful family in Washington DC?
He went over and rang the doorbell. He then waited for a while.
Soon, a maid came over and opened the door,
"Good day." She smiled politely.
"I'm here to see Mrs Stone." Henry announced his intention directly.
"And how may I address you?" She asked still smiling.
"Henry Andrews." He said simply.
"Alright hold on for a while." She dashed back into the mansion, and left Henry standing at the
doorstep.
Soon, she returned, and ushered him in,
"You may come in." She pulled the door back, and allowed Henry inside.
Henry nodded and went inside.
As he approached the living room, his heart skipped a beat when he saw the people seated on the
couch in the living room.
"Young man, come over and take a seat." Raphael said.
Everyone had free time today, as it was a weekend. They were inside the living room discussing about
irrelevant topics, when the maid had announced Henry's presence.
Henry nodded and went to sit down on a vacant seat.
"So, you are Henry Andrews?" Sylvester asked.
Henry nodded,
"Yes. I'm Henry Andrews, your daughter's ex boss." Henry decided to say it all at once.
"You are the bastard who treated my daughter unfairly?" Nicole hardened her voice.
Henry shifted uncomfortably on the sofa he was sitting on. How could he respond to a question like
that?
"That's by the way. Why are you here?" Lily, Quinn's grandmother questioned.
"I like your daughter. I like Quinn." Henry mustered courage and said.
The Stones were taken aback by his response. They hadn't expected him to directly respond like that.
They were all silent for a while.
"You like Quinn?" Nicole chuckled, breaking the silence.
"Yes, I like her. I know I've hurt her in the past, and I'm trying to make up for it. I will do everything
possible to get her back." Henry said resolutely.
The Stones were stunned..
And then Raphael chuckled,
"You have guts young man. Coming over here to tell us to our face that you like our daughter? Aren't
you gutsy?" His expression got serious.
"Well, I'm sorry about that." Henry remained resolute.
"Are you capable enough?" Lily threw in.
She had been listening to their conversation, and also watching Henry closely.
"Pardon?" Henry arched his brow.
"Are you capable enough to marry our daughter?" Sylvester asked on behalf of his mother.
"Maybe you may think my status is not up to Quinn's, but I won't allow her suffer any loss." Henry said.
"That doesn't matter. Get out this instant! What insult!!!" Raphael thundered.
Henry was surprised at the turn of events. Weren't they speaking amicably to him just now?
Why the sudden harshness?
"Did I say something wrong?" Henry frowned.
"Do I need your permission before sending you out? Get out!" Raphael said heatedly.
Henry got up slowly, and looked at each of their faces.
He felt a little bit intimidated by the aura they were emitting.
"I'm sorry for disturbing you all. But I want to say something..." He paused as he took a deep breath.
"I won't be deterred by today's meeting. Instead, my determination just increased." With that he strode
out of the mansion.
..........................................
The Stones were quiet after his departure, and then they smiled simultaneously.
"That was quite funny. I held back my urge to laugh all through the conversation with that young man."
Sylvester shook his head.
"I've always wanted a strong, and capable man for my granddaughter. That young man has the traits
I'm looking for. However, I cannot ignore the fact that he hurt Michelle in the past." Raphael said
contemplatively.
"How do you want to punish him, father?" Nicole chuckled.
She wasn't against him punishing Henry a little. After all, Henry had taken advantage of her precious
daughter in the past.
"Not so hard... I'm going to employ him as my gardener. He employed Michelle as a maid, no? I'm only
returning the favor." Raphael declared.
The rest of the family nodded. They all agreed to it.
"But, will Quinn be fine with it? She quite likes him you know. Even though she pretends that she
doesn't." Nicole frowned.
What if Quinn kicked against the idea? Wouldn't it be funny discovering that her ex boss was now their
gardener?
"But, would he agree to leave his Corporation, just to become our gardener?" Lily laughed lightly.
"If he can't sacrifice such little thing for the sake of his love, then he isn't fit to be my grandson in-law."
Raphael said and got up,
"I will be heading upstairs for now." He turned and made his way upstairs.
"Perhaps, only Father will call 'leaving a Corporation and becoming a gardener', a small sacrifice."
Sylvester said after his father left. He was amused.
"Well, Henry deserves it. A little punishment will do." Nicole said.
===========================
Henry got into his car angrily and drove out of the mansion.
What the heck was that? NôvelDrama.Org: owner of this content.
Were they looking down on him?
'Do they think I'm not fit to be-....'
'Wait.'
Something struck him. During his conversation with Quinn's foster parents earlier on, they made no
mention of Quinn being married to anyone.
Even after he made known to them, his intention to pursue Quinn, and court her.
That meant.... Quinn wasn't in any way married!!!
He suddenly forgot about the anger he was feeling and cheered inwardly.
He was free.... He was free to court her!!!
However.... He decided to profess his feelings to her first.
Because he suddenly realized, that.... he loved her.
It wasn't because of her body or anything.... He couldn't explain it. But he knew for sure that there was
one person his heart longed for,
Quinn....
