Chapter 211
Chapter 211
Meeting Christian Again
“No.” Nicholas shook his head solemnly. He wouldn’t risk taking such drastic actions. The sum of three million meant little to him financially, and his sole concern was Nancy’s safety. His plan involved ensuring that the remaining sum would satisfy the thugs, preventing them from further pursuing
them.
His intended course was clear-within twenty minutes, he would have brought her to a safe house he had designated earlier. He had arranged for his men to be present, providing protection should Puck and his men show up. However, the unexpected arrival of the police threw a wrench in his plans.
Nancy looked at Nicholas, confused. “Maybe they came to save us after they found out I was kidnapped.
“Not necessarily. There might be another reason.” He continued, “But I can be sure about one thing”
“What?”
“I believe the police stumbled upon them while they were in hiding. The thugs likely suspected that I had alerted the authorities, so they have come to kill us.”
She took a deep breath. “Good thing we came out in one piece.”
“Yeah, fortunately,” he replied, and his face twisted in pain.
Nancy immediately noticed his distress and urgently inquired, “Nicholas, what-” Her question was cut short when she saw the blood staining Nicholas’ clothing, leaving her utterly bewildered. She
wondered. where the blood came from or when he had sustained the injury. “Hang on, Nicholas. You said our men are coming, right? Please don’t scare me. Please be alright.” Her voice trembled with fear.
With a reassuring gesture, he reached out, gently patting her head, and managed a smile. “Don’t be scared, silly. It’s just a shallow wound. Don’t worry, I won’t die. I’m tough.”
Despite his attempt to downplay the situation, she was still distraught. The sight of the bloody wound. on his arm brought tears to her eyes. “This isn’t even a shallow wound. It’s a gunshot wound, Nicholas, Why didn’t you tell me you got shot?”
“You’d cry like a baby if I did.” He smiled.
Struggling to compose herself, she wiped away her tears and took a deep breath, determined to regain. her composure. As a doctor, she was trained to handle such situations, yet when it involved Nicholas, her panic intensified. Attempting to reassure herself, she repeated in her mind, “I’m a doctor. This is my specialty. I can save him. Despite being an amateur and an intern who had never performed. operations or witnessed such traumatic scenes, she refused to succumb to fear.
“Stay with me, Nicholas. I’ll bandage your wound and stop the bleeding, Nancy assured Nicholas, her voice steady.
“Okay.” He nodded. “But it’ll hurt a lot, Dr. Cohen. What should I do?” he asked, furrowing his brow.
His mention of the pain flustered her. “Sorry, Nicholas. I don’t have any painkillers with me. Just hang on. You’re bleeding too much. I have to stop your bleeding.”
“I don’t need your apology silly. If I get a kiss now, maybe it won’t be so painful anymore.”
Nancy’s actions were swift and without hesitation. She leaned in to kiss Nicholas, surprising him with her boldness. He had expected her to feel embarrassed, but her eyes held a determined resolve.
Rather than pulling away after their kiss, she looked at him intently. “Feel better now?”
“Yes, but I’m only at 30% power. They say it’s best if I’m at 100%,
With a mischievous smile, she leaned in for two more kisses before standing up to face him. “How about now? Fully charged yet?”
He responded with a playful tone, “Yes, but I’m leaking. I need constant recharge.”
This quip agitated her, leading her to pinch his arm playfully, yet a trace of nervousness lingered in her actions. “You’re joking even now, Nicholas?”
Nicholas grunted, unintentionally hurting Nancy. “Okay, I’ll stop talking. You lie down.”
“Yeah.” He closed his eyes.
She hastily tore a strip from her sleeve, using her clothing to bind the wound. Her trembling hands worked frantically, yet the persisting presence of the lodged bullet left her feeling perpetually anxious.
Amidst her efforts, a voice cut through the tension. “Mr. Sallow.”
“Mr. Sallow, are you hurt?” the person asked nervously.
Nicholas extended his hand. Calmly, he said, “It’s alright. I’m fine. Don’t worry.”
Nancy, already on edge, felt her anxiety heighten at the evident unease of those around her.

“Not your fault. No one thought this would happen.”
“Yeah. We had no idea a group of police were hiding in the mountains. They seemed to be after those
guys.”
A group
of police arrived with the captured kidnappers. As they approached Nancy and Nicholas, one of the officers halted before them, concern etched on his face. “Are you the victims? Have
you been injured? Do you need medical assistance?” He inquired, stepping closer.
She nodded. “Yes, Nicholas has been shot. It’s a bit serious. We would appreciate it if you could help.” After all, she knew that using a police car to transport Nicholas to the hospital would expedite his treatment and minimize his suffering.
“Okay. Once everything is better, we will need you to come with us to give your statement.”
“Sure.”
“What’s your name? And give me your number.”
