Rules Of Our Own: Chapter 4

MY BREATH LEAVES me in a whoosh when the villa’s front door closes. I’ve been pretending to sleep from the second I heard the boys wake up, listening to the quiet sounds of them getting ready before they slipped out.

I roll onto my back and press my palms into my burning cheeks. They’d been hot in college, with corded muscles and boyish charm. But that had nothing on them today. Alex still has a playfulness to him, but there’s an undercurrent when he looks at me that threatens to take me under. It’s like someone took his playfulness and made it sharp.

River’s just as quiet as he used to be, but what he lacks in words, he more than makes up for in intensity. When he’d come up to me last night, it was like he sucked the air out of the room and replaced it with thick tension. I’ve never believed in that alpha male bullshit. Just a way for guys that can’t get laid to justify their assholery. But I’ll be damned if River’s quiet dominance didn’t have me freezing in place, eagerly listening for what he’d finally say.

It took hours for me to fall asleep. Each time I closed my eyes, the sound of their breaths filled my mind, and suddenly, the five feet to their bed felt like five inches.

I damn near moaned when I peeked and saw them both in matching black boxer briefs that left nothing to the imagination. They were both huge—my mouth watered, and my fingers begged to pull the fabric down. Even if it was just to see another inch.

Apparently, I’m a total perv because I spent the rest of the night trying to ignore the insistent ache between my thighs. It’s still there, begging me to do something about it. I suck in a few breaths, running through rudimentary biology stats, trying to tamp down the lust quickly taking over. I huff out a breath. Biology’s definitely the wrong thing to count on to keep my mind off these men.

I rub my thighs together, doing my best to ignore the dampness there. It’s clearly been entirely too long since I’ve gotten laid.

Screw it. I’m an adult. Nothing wrong with taking care of this. I just won’t think of the two very sexy, very off-limits guys staying with me.

I reach into the suitcase I’d left open on the nearby bench and pull out a small handheld fuchsia vibrator. Please be charged. Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.

It hums in my hand when I press the button, and I swallow hard as I dip under my waistband. I try to imagine my usual, I really do, but my mind freezes on the images of Alex in a towel. But instead of him securing it around his waist, he lets it drop. His hard, veiny cock bobs, and my mouth goes dry.

I whimper as the vibration travels through my clit, bringing me closer to my release. I reach my other hand under my nightdress, hiking it up, and pinch my nipple. My thoughts shift, and it’s suddenly replaced by long, thick, callused fingers, and searing black eyes meet mine as River rolls the bud between his fingers. Oh shit. I suck in breaths, so fucking close I’m trembling, barely coherent words tumbling from my lips. “Alex, Riv—”

“Fuck.” A low groan comes from the doorway, and my eyes snap open directly into River’s. Déjà vu from Alex in the doorway from last night, only way freaking worse.

A muscle works in his jaw, a pink flush across his cheeks, and his fist clenches at his side. For a moment of weakness, I want to keep going, but then reality snaps into place. My cheeks stain red, and I jump off the bed, my vibrator crashing to the floor as I flee into the bathroom, locking the door behind me before collapsing against it.

That didn’t really happen. Right? Please, God. It’s the lack of sleep. I’m hallucinating. Oh my God. I didn’t say his name? Please. It’s official—I’m never coming out of here.

There’s a light tap on the door. “It’s alright, Mia. I should have knocked. Completely normal. Don’t be embarrassed.”

His voice is steady with a hint of command, and I feel my heart rate even out. How the hell is he so calm?

I stay completely silent, determined to wipe this entire thing out of my memory and never think of it again.

“I’ll see you later,” he says before stepping away.

Not if I can help it. The first thing I’m doing is changing rooms, and then I fully plan on hiding from him for the rest of the trip. I don’t release my breath until I hear the front door close. Even then, I wait another ten minutes before stepping out and freeze mid-step.

Sitting on my bed is my pretty pink vibrator that River must have picked up.
