Chapter 1235
Listening to his grandmother lay it all out, James responded with a cool detachment, "So, even you think I'd go easy on her, Grandma?" "Isn't that so?"
Bea took a deep breath. "That woman's nothing but trouble, bound to bring disaster to the Burke family sooner or later! You've done foolish things for her over and over, and now you've seen what it's like to be on the run. You should realize how lucky you are to lead Burke International!" She handed him ten percent of the company shares. "I spent all my savings buying these shares from that woman, Sophie. Keep them close, because now you're the largest shareholder of Burke International. No one can topple you from your position anymore." James looked at the shares in his hands and let out a sardonic chuckle.
Bea had held onto these shares for most of her life, never once thinking to pass them on to him. And now, she handed them over so easily.
Things must have been tough for her lately.
James's voice turned cold. "Don't worry, Grandma. I won't give them any chance to escape. Colby will die, and Sophie... she won't be spared either." Bea was stunned. "What?"
"What? Weren't you the one who wanted Sophie dead so badly you even hired someone to do it?"
James shot Bea a puzzled look.
Bea forced a smile. "It's true I wanted her dead, but you..."
"I'm a Burke, my loyalty lies with the Burkes." James's voice had a chilling amusement. "Grandma, everything for the family's benefit, right? That's what you taught me. I'm just following your teachings. Is that wrong?" FindNovel
Confronted with this unrecognizable version of James, Bea was momentarily speechless.
She knew her grandson inside out. From learning how to manage the Burke family to mastering the art of concealing his true self, James had always excelled. But excelling didn't mean he was willing.
For years, he'd silently endured her dominance, but deep down, he was defiant.
And, just like his father, when James loved, he loved deeply.
How could someone like that ever harm the one they loved?
This new James made Bea uneasy.
James then casually said, "Grandma, there's a lot waiting for me at the company, so I won't be staying here for now."

where? Your new house with Nichole was burned down. I think it's best if you stay here and handle things. No one will disturb you."
Bea's words were loaded with implication, clearly hinting that Sophie would continue to be a problem.
James responded calmly, "The
Burke family is your domain, Grandma. Rest here, I have other places to be. I heard you caused quite a scandal overseas; it's better to stay in."
He then looked over at Marian, standing nearby. "Make sure Grandma stays put. Devonport's a mess right now. If she goes out, it might cause trouble for the Burke family."
