Chapter 1226
Just because she said she liked peace and stability, Colby decided to cut ties with the past. But what did that decision bring?
It made their enemies see them as easy targets. They could only watch helplessly, with no chance to fight back. She was too naive. Where did this saint-like compassion come from? Upstairs, Gordon looked down at Sophie, with Rick speaking from behind, "Boss, should we tell Ms. Sophie that actually..."
"Sometimes, growth requires bloodshed. The more gruesome, the faster the growth," Gordon said indifferently. "She has everything going for her, except her heart's too soft. Making her reassess herself might not be a bad thing. If she wants to find the killer, she has to carve out her own territory in Devonport. To rule here, she can't afford to be soft-hearted. What good is it to not provoke others if they don't provoke you? Only with a ruthless heart can you stand at the top.'"
Gordon slightly lifted his hand, speaking coldly to Rick, "Go back."
"Boss, didn't you want to guide Ms. Sophie? Are you really going to watch her drown in guilt?"
Gordon glanced downstairs and said, "She's smart and not fragile; she'll figure it out on her own. She needs to see the world more clearly than be guided or protected, to understand the rules of survival in Devonport. Even Jenna and Adler have been through their trials, but she hasn't. Colby used to handle the dirty work behind her back, but starting tomorrow, she'll have to face it all by herself."
As dawn broke, there was always an alley that remained dark, filthy, and hidden from sight. Colby stood there, watching as his men escorted batch after batch of people. Mr. Schuldt stood nearby, wiping sweat from his brow, "Colby, everyone from the business building that night is here! There's really no one suspicious left!"Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
A cold glint flashed in Colby's eyes as he extended a hand clad in black leather gloves, pointing at two waiters, "These two, kill them."
"Colby! Have mercy, Colby!"
"It wasn't me! I had nothing to do with it! Colby!"
Colby's face was expressionless, devoid of any emotion. Hearing his command, Mr. Schuldt swallowed hard.
"Colby, this isn't right..." Before Mr.
Schuldt could finish, the men's
blades flashed, instantly slashing the throats of the two men. Blood splattered everywhere, and Mr Schuldt, witnessing this scene, was
so shocked he couldn't speak.
"Clean this up."
Colby nonchalantly tossed two pieces of black cloth over the faces of the corpses. His men quickly dragged the bodies away.
"Boss, the funeral arrangements have been made overnight. Should we..."
His confidant stood beside Colby. Colby looked towards the still-unrisen sun, expertly lighting a cigarette. Watching the smoke rise slowly he chuckled, then placed the cigarette beside a bunch of wild roses at the roadside.
"To the old man, in your honor. You spent your life growing roses, and now you can finally join your beloved in that world to grow roses together."
Then, without looking back, Colby left the dark alley.
