Chapter 117 Be Straight With Me
Chapter 117 Be Straight With Me
Hearing this, Lily couldn't help pursing her lips. She was pale with guilt. Her small mouth opened and closed, but she didn't know what to say.
Seeing her like this, Patricia couldn't help but frown. She looked at Lily out of the corner of her eyes. She figured that Lily's visit meant that things were not going smoothly for Jayson since they had stolen the contract.
"If you have nothing to say, then don't disturb me!" Patricia then motioned for Lily to leave her room.
"Miss Sampson, I know I have wronged you, but please listen to me. I..." Lily paused mid-sentence, a sense of sadness washing over her heart. She then said, "I'm sorry!"
"I don't want to hear your explanation or apology! What I'm interested in finding out is what you want from me!" Patricia looked at Lily coldly, her bright eyes sharp as she searched Lily's face.
'Lily's presence in my room signifies that she wants something from me, so she wouldn't go back quietly. In this case, then, I'll use this opportunity to get some information from her!"
Hearing Patricia's words, Lily lowered her head in shame. She found it challenging to face Patricia, causing her to tightly clasp her hands together. Although she wanted to explain herself, no words came out, and she became more hesitant to speak
Patricia pursed her lips as she took in Lily's hesitation. 'Even at a time like this, is Lily still unwilling to speak to me? Glancing coldly at Lily, Patricia said flatly, "If you have something to say, then just be straight with me. If not, then get out! I need to rest."
Startled, Lily raised her head and looked at Patricia sadly. She pleaded, "Miss Sampson, please save Jayson!"
Patricia was stunned to hear this request. She didn't understand what Lily meant. 'Why would I save Jayson? Has something happened to his father's company?'
Before Patricia could think it over, Lily seized her wrist and implored, "Miss Sampson, please tell me about the part that you are responsible for in the contract."
Patricia narrowed her beautiful eyes and looked at Lily seriously. She had not expected things to turn out like this. Lily is willing to come to talk to me for Jayson's benefit. It seems she hasn't recognized what she has done wrong at all.'
Breathing out a long sigh, Patricia looked at Lily helplessly and felt a little sad. She didn't expect Lily, who had been with her for so many years, to become like this because of love.
She wanted to blame Lily for that. But since she was also in the struggle of love, she thought better of it.
Patricia's sigh undoubtedly made Lily's heart ache. Lily felt guiltier. Her lips trembled with worry. She said in a low voice, *Miss Sampson, I know I am asking for too much, but... I have no other choice."
No, she really had no choice. Lily didn't know what to do other than ask Patricia for help.
Hearing this, Patricia snorted coldly. Her solemn expression immediately disappeared, and her usual aloof expression returned to her face. She looked at Lily and said seriously, "Lily, did you really think I would tell you so easily?"
Lily hurriedly shook her head. She and Jayson had stolen the contract of cooperation between Veyron Corp. and Reynolds Group. That made Lily a sinner, and she had no right to ask Patricia to tell her what her part of the contract
was about.
*Since you know the answer, why did you come to me?" Patricia asked coldly. She stared pointedly at Lily as she said this. Out of the corner of her eye, Patricia felt a sharp gaze from outside her door. She couldn't help but look in the direction of the door.
"Who is outside?" Patricia roared. Sensing that this was not a friendly gaze, her thoughts inexplicably ran on the man who had attacked her yesterday.Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.
'Has he come to the hospital to find me? His gaze is so intense.'
As soon as Patricia finished speaking, the figure outside her door disappeared quickly, leaving her no chance to identify the person.
Noticing Patricia's attention was focused elsewhere, Lily, too, turned her gaze towards the door. That's when she saw Dora entering. Lily was so surprised, she exclaimed, "Dora..."
"Sister, why are you here? I thought you had already left!" Dora walked in with Patricia's medicine. She looked at Lily and Patricia curiously, feeling like she had missed something.
Lily had never told Dora what had happened in the Veyron Corp.. She had only mentioned to Dora that she had a good friend who took good care of her in the company, so Dora was unaware that Patricia was Lily's boss.
Patricia was stunned when she heard Dora call Lily her sister. She looked suspiciously at Lily and Dora, and then it hit her how similar the two sisters were.
'It's no wonder when I first met Dora I felt a sense of familiarity. As it turns out, Dora and Lily are sisters.
"Sister, do you know Miss Patricia? Confused, Dora looked first at Lily and then at Patricia. She felt like there was some history between them, but she couldn't figure out what.
"Yes, she does. Lily used to work for the Veyron Corp., and she was my subordinate at that time," replied Patricia with a gentle smile on her face.
Hearing this, Dora became inexplicably excited. She said enthusiastically, "Really? I didn't expect Miss Patricia to be so lucky to know us two sisters." As soon as she finished speaking. Dora grinned happily, showing her cute canine teeth.
Lily nodded slightly in response to Dora's statement. She looked at Patricia out of the corner of her eye, wondering why she would help her lie.
Seeing Lily's expression, Patricia smiled. She understood what Lily's look meant. She, too, didn't want Dora to learn of their dark past. After all, she wanted Dora to keep her innocent and lovely smile.
Lily smiled gratefully as she realized what Patricia's intentions were. Dora, who didn't notice anything wrong, kept chatting away. Then the three of them conversed a bit before Lily said she had something to do and excused herself. It was not until Dora saw her off that the room returned to silence.
After Dora and Lily left, Patricia sat quietly on the bed and closed her eyes. She was thinking about what had happened just now.
'Lily's visit meant that Jayson did not gain the trust of his father. Thus, Jayson would probably pin the blame on Lily, at which point she would return to see me.
But what Patricia was most concerned about was who was standing outside the door earlier. From the figure she saw, it appeared to be a strong man. 'What could be his purpose for standing at the door?
Did he want to confirm I was injured, or did he have other plans for me?"
Apart from that, Patricia was also worried about the current situation of the Veyron Corp..
Questions popped up one after the other. Taking a deep breath, Patricia frowned as she felt her life was full of troubles. "You frown so much. Aren't you afraid of becoming ugly?" A muffled but pleasant voice drifted to her ears. Suddenly, Patricia opened her eyes and stared up at Zac's stern face.
She looked at Zac blankly. Her pink lips opened and closed. Patricia wanted to say something, but her words escaped her.
Why is Zac here, again? Isn't he busy? He's supposed to deal with the cooperation between the Reynolds Group and the Veyron Corp. isn't he?
"Looking at me like that, are you sure you won't make me misunderstand you?" Zac chuckled as he said this, his sexy thin lips slightly upward. His faint smile was like the spring breeze in March.
The next moment, Patricia came to her senses and moved her body subconsciously to keep a distance between Zac and herself.
"Why are you here? Patricia asked in a low voice. She unconsciously turned her face away, making it appear as if she didn't want to see Zac. But actually, her face was so flushed that she was embarrassed to face Zec.
