Chapter 81
BETA DARIUS' POV
I felt a lump in my throat immediately I heard the Luna's words I watched Janice leave without making any move.
"Maybe it's best I let her go," I said casually and Alpha Leo froze.
"You had a fight with Janice because you do not want pups?" He looked disappointed. "Who would be my heir's Beta now."
I looked down at my hand. "I don't just want pups. I love Janice and I would like to give your heir a Beta, but that won't make me change my mind."
"Then why did you get into a relationship with her in the first place?" Luna Rita asked. I could hear the disappointment in her voice, but I just could not help it. My mind was made up.
"Darius, if your parents had had decided ded to not to give birth to a pup, you would never have been in existence. Why don't you want to bring a Darius junior like your parents brought into the world?"
I looked away. They would never understand.
"Are you-" Alpha I Leo looked around and I then lowered his voice. "Are you impotent?"
I frowned. Of course not. That was not the reason. It was as bad, but not it. "No, I'm not," I answered dryly.
could not let I not let Janice have my pups because the chance of them having the moonrage disease was high. It was a disease that made werewolves lose control. It makes one as unaware and totally unanimalistic. The disease was genetic and in my lineage. It skips ten generations and my generation was the last to be blessed to never express the gene. If I had pups, only one out of ten of those pups will be the carrier. The trait in the others will be dominant. what for Janice, it best to

You're stupid for letting go of love. What else might be the reason?" He frowned. "Are you afraid of the responsibility. I don't know you for that." I heaved a a sigh of frus of frustration. "That's not the reason. I love children and I enjoy being around them. I don't see having a pup as hard work. Well, it might be, but I don't see it that way." "So, what is wrong?" Luna Rita asked. "Janice deserves to know the truth. I thought you have both reached that level. Take this from someone who has kept things from her mate, telling Janice why you don't want a pup is the best thing to do. Except you're no longer interested, you should tell Janice your fears."
The Luna was right. That way Janice would choose if she wanted to continue or not. But, I was not scared of Janice not wanting to continue. I was scared she would still want to despite everything and it was scary. Having a child with moonrage was war. There was no cure and you had to watch your child turn into a beast.
"I love Janice," I I said weakly.
"But, you're hurting her now. She loves you too, but you're hurting her."
I stood up to my feet. I had to talk to her. Not to tell her the truth, but to make myself look like a scumbag more than I already do.
That way, it'll be easier for her to let go. I was beginning to regret inviting her here. We were having a fight, but when I told I that it was the Alpha's orders, she had to come. Without waiting to tell the Alpha and Luna anything, I ran out of the restaurant in search of Janice and I saw her sitting under a tree along the road.

"You have to let go of me," I said immediately I got to where she was. I knew I was not saying the right words, but how would I when I did not know that to say.
"Don't flatter yourself," She said, then she stood up on her feet and began to walk away.
"I love you," I blurted. Darn it! What was I saying? Did my stupid heart have to show itself again?
She paused walking, glanced at me, looked forward again and continued walking.
"If
we have pups, they may all have moonrage," I confessed. No, I blurted out again.
Janice knew everything now.
She stopped walking and spun around to look at me.

So?" Janice
It skips ten generations and unfortunately, my generation is the last generation that is free from the disease. If we have pups. There is a high chance of them having the disease." asked casually. "We might end up not having a pup with the disease. What's the name again?"
"Moonrage," I 'I replied. My heart slackened. She had no idea of what this disease was all about.
Yes, the moonrage disease. Even if we have a pup with the disease, we can find a way to still manage it."
"Janice, that's the thing. We can't manage the disease. A pup with moonrage is doomed to be unaware, animalistic and out of control forever."
Janice turned pale. That was what I thought. She would never be able to handle that. Nobody deserved to handle such.
"You should find someone else or are you willing to take the risk
RITA'S POV
"Do you think he is going after Janice?" I asked Leo.
"I hope so. I know he loves her. It will be crazy of he did not," Leo replied.
I nodded in agreement. "Didn't you know that they were having a fight?"
Leo
shook his head. "I had no idea. I only gave a command to Darius to bring Janice here so we could have a double date."
"You gave a command?" Rita gave me a look of disapproval. "Is he your friend or is he only your Beta. I feel you see him as only a Beta most times and that is a little annoying. Imagine if I decide to not go near you, because I was intimidated by you." Leo's face fell. "But I like it when you are close to me." He brought his hand closer and I moved away. "And I am just too scared of you to let you come near me."
Leo looked displeased, but I ignored that. "Just make sure things don't end between the Beta and my friend."
My phone rang. An unknown number was calling. After a few seconds of contemplating whether or not to pick the call, I decided to do so.

"Good day. Is this Luna Rita?" The voice was feminine. So, the person calling was most probably a she-wolf.
"Yes, this is Luna Rita. Is anything wrong?"
"Yes. I am calling from the pack asylum."
1 froze.
"Pack asylum? Is anything wrong with Aunt Freya?"
"Every month, the asylum takes a few of it's asylum on a picnic outside and far from the asylum. We just want to give them a little exposure to how things outside their bars are. Your Aunt was selected to go this month and we took her out with the others for a picnic." "So, what is the problem now?" "Your aunt is nowhere to be found."
