Reborn Before The Divorce

Jesse looked at the number and hesitated to answer.

“What’s wrong? Why don’t you answer the phone?” Nydia was unsure.

“It’s him.”

Nydia’s heart instantly missed a beat.

She unconsciously held her breath.

Jesse picked up the phone.

“Hello, who is it?”

“Jesse, don’t remember my number?” Alex’s voice came out of the phone, a little weaker and older than before.

“Where are my kids!” Jesse asked directly.

“Looks like you know I took them.” Alex laughed softly.

“Who else could have done that but you!”

A soft laugh came from the other end of the phone.

“I can take that as your approval of me.”

Jesse didn’t say anything, waiting for Alex to say what he was up to.

“I haven’t seen you in a long time, a meeting?”

“Time and place.” Jesse didn’t bullshit, the baby was in Alex’s hands and he had to compromise.

Alex said the time and place and hung up.

After he hung up, Jesse didn’t say anything, just leaned back in his chair, his eyes looking ahead, a little dumbfounded.

Nydia was a little worried and reached out to hold his hand, realizing it was cold.

She didn’t say a word and wordlessly held his hand tighter, giving him strength and warmth.

It was a while before Jesse spoke, his voice slightly husky.

“I’ll see him this afternoon, take care of yourself.”

Just that one sentence made Nydia’s eyes quickly redden and she bit her lip to keep the tears from falling ah.

After that the two fell into a long silence.

After returning home, Nydia immediately stabilized her emotions, “There’s still a bit of time before lunch, I’ll go make something to eat.”

Her voice was a little choked, and after entering the kitchen she couldn’t hold back her tears any longer, but didn’t dare to cry out, she could only put her sleeve against her mouth to keep Jesse outside from hearing the sound.

Jesse, however, was standing in the doorway of the kitchen, with a door between them.

His face was heavy, and even his form wasn’t as upright as it should have been.

Inside the kitchen Nydia took a deep breath to stabilize herself and started cooking.

Despite the red eyes and occasional emotional outbursts throughout this process, it all stabilized and eventually a few dishes were made.

“Jesse, it’s time to eat.”

She called over to him.

“Good.”

Jesse came out of the den to eat, the table was full of his favorites.

“I bet if we had dinner with Alex today, the food wouldn’t be as good as what you made.”

“That’s a must, there aren’t many who can cook as well as me these days.” She said with a proud look on her face.

Both of them tacitly agreed not to mention that and just ate.

“I have to finish all these dishes or I’ll fail my wife, they are so delicious after all.”

“Then you have to finish it, you’re not allowed to leave the house until you do!” Nydia threatened.

Jesse’s fork lurched, then he quickly resumed the action of chucking the food and nodded, “Must finish.”

When the table was pretty much eaten, both of them were very full, and then no one spoke.

This kind of atmosphere was very strange, so strange that people felt suffocated, especially when they were full, they even had a feeling that they were going to vomit.

Nydia, who was already pregnant, couldn’t suppress it right away and rushed aside to grab a trash can and throw up.

Jesse rushed over to her and patted her on the back and handed her a tissue.

She threw up everything she had just eaten.

“You don’t have to worry about me, just walk away or you’ll throw up too.” She tried to push Jesse away, but her arms were too limp in strength to do so.

“I won’t.”

Jesse picked her up and sat her on the couch, leaving the maid to clean up.

“Let’s go to the bedroom.”

Nydia was worried she’d lose her temper.

Jesse carried her into the bedroom.

Then she hugged him and cried, unable to restrain herself any longer.

“Don’t be afraid, it’s going to be okay.” He softly soothed her, patting her back like he was coaxing a little girl.

“Will you go and not come back?” She was teary-eyed, her nose and eyes very red.

Jesse wiped her tears away and shook his head, “It’ll come back, it’ll be okay, trust me, okay?”

“Take care of yourself while I’m gone, take care of the baby, and Molly and Tavish will be there for you when they get back.”

“But I want you!”

After all these years together, Jesse had gotten into her blood and bones long ago, and she couldn’t lose him, and she couldn’t afford to lose him.

The thought that she might lose her stopped her heart from clenching and her mind became so confused that she couldn’t think straight and just wanted to tell him over and over again not to leave.

“Once we’ve taken care of Alex, the big devil, we’ll be able to live happily and peacefully together for the rest of our lives, right? After all we’ve been through, we’ve both gotten stronger, surely we can work it out.”

“Just like Marvel heroes defeat villains, don’t be afraid, we’re strong!”

Nydia hugged his neck tightly as tears continued to flow in through his collar.

She didn’t say anything more, knowing there was no point in saying anything more.

Might as well cuddle a little longer.

“Jesse, let’s go to bed, Alex asked you to meet him at four, it’s still early.”

Nydia and Jesse lay in bed, she leaned against him, it was the only way she could feel more at ease.

“I can find that pillow of mine while I’m gone.”

“We put both those pillows away, and the pillow said, “You two assholes, you crossed a bridge, you used it up and threw it away, and now you’re thinking about it, you’re so scummy!”

“At least we can still think of them, it’s not scummy.”

The two of them talked about one thing and another, the atmosphere was okay, and gradually, Nydia fell asleep.

Perhaps her subconscious felt that if she fell asleep she would be fine and wouldn’t have to face this matter.

Sleeping she was suddenly awakened, directly her body jerked violently, making Jesse who was beside her also wake up.

“What’s wrong babe? Having a nightmare?”

“I don’t know, just woke up with a start.” She hugged him.

“Do you want to sleep some more? It’s only been forty minutes of sleep.”

“Very awake, can’t seem to get back to sleep.” She shook her head.

She was very much awake at the moment and not a bit sleepy.

“I want to wash my hair, you can wash my hair.”

“Okay.”

Jesse and Nydia went to the bathroom, there was special equipment for washing hair lying down.

Nydia lay back and closed her eyes and felt Jesse gently wash her hair.

She also had her head and cervical spine massaged.

She was also given a pleasing ear massage, so to speak, and was made to feel comfortable with the full range of services.

While blow-drying her hair, she leaned against him and felt his scent, the sound of the blow-dryer in her ears, but she felt quiet.

Before she knew it, it was three o’clock and Jesse was leaving.

“I’m leaving.” He stroked Nydia’s head.

“Okay, I’ll wait for you to come back!” She stood in the doorway looking at him.

Jesse leaned over and kissed her on the lips and left.

He drove out and Nydia didn’t come home until the car was gone.
