Chapter 295
"You've landed?" Sean's voice rang out.Material © NôvelDrama.Org.
Charles could hear the relief in his tone. Clearly, Amelia was fine. He smiled and asked, "How's Amelia? Is she okay?"
"Of course she is! Who do you think I am? Of course I'd do everything to make sure she's okay!" Sean's happiness was evident.
The fact that Naomi had called him to tell him about Amelia's condition meant that he had to seize the opportunity to be a responsible partner and show both Amelia and Naomi how reliable he was. "That's good." Charles hailed a taxi and got in.
Sean heard the sound of the car door closing and asked, "Did you see the message I sent you?"
"Yes. I tried to call Naomi, but her phone is already switched off. She's probably still on the flight."
"Of course she is. She caught the flight immediately after yours, and I'm guessing she'll arrive around 3 a.m. Are you going to wait for her at the airport or settle your stuff first?"
Sean still remembered why Charles was at San Angelino.
With that, he added, "By the way, what happened that made you fly all the way there? Is it something serious?"
By this time, Charles had already got into the taxi, so he instructed the driver, "San Angelino City Hospital, please."
Sean was stunned. "What the heck? That's where Amelia is at, too!"
Charles froze.
Amelia was at San Angelino City Hospital too?
Sean immediately asked, "Are you headed to San Angelino City Hospital?"
"Yes. My grandmother suffered a bleed in her brain yesterday and went in for emergency surgery. She's just come out of surgery, and I'm going to see her."
"Oh my God! What a coincidence! Amelia's right there, too, but at the gastroenterology department. She got food poisoning because she had crab, ice cream, walnuts, and spicy food one after the other. That woman! Thank God we managed to get her to the hospital in time. Who knows what could've happened if we hadn't caught it early."
Charles understood what had happened. You were not supposed to have crab and nuts together, and clearly, Amelia had accidentally given herself food poisoning by doing so. However, what were the odds that both Amelia and his grandmother would be admitted to the same hospital on the same night?
"I'm going to see my grandmother first, then come back to pick Naomi up." Charles voice was beginning to falter. He could not believe what a perfect series of coincidences this was it would appear that even God was trying to help him, and Charles did not know how to feel about that.
Sean burst into laughter. "I can't believe it! I guess even cupid is on your side today. He probably got fed up with your slow progress and decided to step in. You better do right by him!"
Charles smiled. "I will."
He would not miss out on this opportunity, no matter what.
"Hahaha... I'm going to seize this opportunity to be a responsible man, too. I've already settled my work here, and I'll be flying to San Angelino in a few hours. That Amelia! I can't go a day without worrying about her."
"Hey, by the way, Charles, I just had a great idea... A double wedding. How does that sound, eh?"
Charles rubbed his brows in exasperation but could not stop smiling. "Isn't that still too early, Sean."
