Deasy blinked repeatedly. When she turned to her right, she didn’t find Lucas by her side. Glancing at the neatly arranged digital clock on the nightstand, she realized it was already eight in the morning.
Slowly, Deasy sat up. Raising both arms simultaneously, she stretched her stiff muscles. Fortunately, she had slept soundly last night after receiving a gentle massage from her husband. She had slept so soundly that she couldn’t even remember if she had dreams or not.
Slowly, Deasy decided to get up. She slid off the bed and walked towards the bathroom to freshen up. Once she finished and decided to leave the room, her sense of smell immediately caught a strong and enticing aroma of cooking.
Instantly, Deasy’s stomach growled. Following her instincts, she walked slowly toward the source of the smell until she stopped right in front of the dining room.
There, Deasy found the man she had been looking for since earlier. It was Lucas, who seemed busy cooking something, and she wasn’t sure what he was preparing.
Actually, this was not an uncommon sight. Almost every morning, Lucas was like this. Amidst his busy schedule before going to work, he willingly took the trouble to prepare breakfast for Deasy to enjoy. Even though he could easily instruct the house assistant to do it.
However, because he wanted to ensure that his wife’s food was prepared according to the right proportions, Lucas chose to handle everything himself without the need for anyone else’s help.
For a moment, Deasy chose to stand still. She curled her lips, breaking into a smile while silently expressing her gratitude that her husband kept his promise to always serve, provide full attention, protect, and ensure her comfort.
Meanwhile, Lucas, aware of Deasy’s presence, turned to her. With a warm smile, he greeted her in an unusual manner.
“Coffee with stripes. Good morning, my dear beloved wife.”
Deasy chuckled. Without offering any protests, she replied in kind.
“Buy squid and roast goat. Hey, husband, want to cuddle and roll around?”
Lucas spontaneously stretched out both of his arms, approached Deasy, and enveloped his wife in a tight hug.
“Is that all?” Deasy pouted when Lucas released the hug. “How about a kiss, too? Can’t I have more than just a hug?”
Lucas smiled again, obediently pulled Deasy’s neck closer, and then captured her lips for a kiss. He lingered, kissing her slowly before finally letting go.
“That was too short,” Deasy protested, seemingly dissatisfied.
“We’ll continue later. I don’t want to burn my cooking.”
“Don’t lie. I’ll hold you to it,” she playfully threatened. “So, do you want me to help you with anything?”
Lucas shook his head. He took Deasy’s wrists and guided her to sit in the dining chair.
“No need, dear. Just sit here and gaze at my handsome face.”
Patiently, Deasy waited, observing how her husband seemed so focused on cooking until he finished and immediately served the food in front of her.
“Seafood fried rice? Sounds good,” Deasy said with enthusiasm. The next minute, as usual, Lucas grabbed a spoon and started feeding Deasy the meal he had prepared.
“Aren’t you going to eat?” Deasy asked between bites.
“Not yet,” Lucas shook his head. “I’m going to take a shower first. You enjoy the rest of your breakfast. I’ll be in the room for a bit and then get ready.”
Deasy’s forehead immediately creased. She knew that Lucas didn’t have any work schedule today, and it was the weekend. So, where was her husband planning to go?
“Where are you going, Luc? Isn’t it Saturday? There’s no work schedule on the weekend, right?”
Lucas nodded.
“Yes, Honey. I’m not going to office.”
“So, where are you going?” Deasy squinted her eyes, eagerly awaiting her husband’s response.
“Have you forgotten? We’re heading to the hospital for your check-up. Also, we’ll consult with a specialist about your high blood pressure condition and how to prevent it from recurring. I’m worried it might become dangerous. I don’t want anything to happen to you,” Lucas replied.
Deasy nodded in understanding. She had almost forgotten about this appointment, despite her mother’s repeated reminders the night before.
“Alright, I’ll go take a shower. I’ll join you upstairs after breakfast.”
After completing all her preparations, Lucas escorted Deasy to the hospital. Upon arriving, he immediately took her to see the doctor who usually treated her. However, because her regular doctor was out of town, a standby doctor conducted the examination this time.
Deasy and Lucas waited for about twenty minutes in the waiting room. When her name was called, Deasy quickly got up and urged Lucas to accompany her into the examination room.
As she was ushered in and asked to sit down, Deasy was momentarily taken aback. The doctor in the room also displayed the same surprised expression.
“Deasy?”
“Joseph?”
“Oh my goodness. It’s been so long since I last saw you,” the doctor exclaimed. His eyes lit up with joy at the sight of Deasy.
“Yeah,” Deasy nodded with a smile. Her eyes betrayed her happiness at seeing the man before her. “It’s probably been about five years since we last met.”
“Indeed, quite a long time,” said the doctor named Jonas. “Oh, please, have a seat first. Let me examine what’s ailing you.”
Seeing that the doctor was of a similar age and his overly friendly demeanor toward Deasy, Lucas began to feel uneasy.
“How have you been, Des?”
“I’ve been well. And how about you? When did you return to Indonesia? It’s been a while?”NôvelDrama.Org copyrighted © content.
“I’ve been great too. I decided to settle back in Indonesia just two years ago.”
Lucas remained silent, rolling his eyes discreetly. He felt disgusted, especially since his wife and the doctor were engrossed in their conversation, which seemed far from the medical purpose of their visit.
