Chapter 22
Chapter 22
Her voice was a husky whisper as she called out his name.
Tears streamed down her cheeks as she pleaded with him for mercy.
The pale pink marks of his kisses adorned her creamy skin.
Every memory only drove lan deeper into madness. At that moment, the only thought in his mind was that Clara belonged to him!
Heidi, standing just outside the door, peered through the crack and saw the scene unfold. Her fists clenched tight with fury. How she wished she were the one entwined with lan in such a passionate embrace.
Biting her lip hard enough to taste blood, she fought the urge to scream.. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org: ©.
Just then, Chase’s voice broke through her thoughts. “Heidi, what are you up to?”
Quickly regaining her composure, Heidi turned with a smile and said, “I’m waiting for lan.”
Her gaze shifted to the doctor behind Chase, and she asked, “Who might this be?”
Chase grinned mischievously, “Someone said he’s about to be a daddy and asked me to snag an expert to confirm. What’s lan up to in there?”
As he leaned in for a closer look, he caught sight of Clara biting lan’s lip fiercely enough to draw blood.
Chase couldn’t help but chuckle, “Tsk, tsk, tsk. He gets bitten and still manages such a lustful grin. How shamelessly masochistic. We’ve got to get a front–row seat to this drama.”
Heidi’s smile slowly stiffened. She glared at the obstetrician behind Chase, grinding her teeth in silence..
She had thought that once lan was informed of Clara’s pregnancy, he would be livid and insist on terminating. it, causing Clara to hate him even more. But what she hadn’t anticipated was lan’s desire to keep the child.
Fortunately, the child was already gone. With a cold twist of her lips, she followed Chase into the office.
Upon seeing the couple’s flushed faces and glistening lips, Chase laughed suggestively.
“Can’t wait, huh? Keep it decent, people. This is a hospital, not your love nest. Besides, what if Clara is pregnant? You don’t want to hurt the baby, do you?”
lan shot him a chilling glance, “Get out!”
Then, he turned to the specialist and ordered, “Give her a pregnancy test.”
The obstetrician nodded with a smile. “No worries, Mr. Hayes. A little blood test, and we’ll have the answer in twenty minutes.”
As he approached Clara with the necessary equipment, Heidi suddenly burst into tears. She moved closer to lan, her face a mask of remorse. “lan, no need for a test. The baby’s gone. It’s all my fault. If I hadn’t called you. away that day, you wouldn’t have stood up Ms. Clara on her birthday. Then she wouldn’t have been so upset, and she wouldn’t have terminated your child in a fit of rage.” As she spoke, she handed the surgical records to
lan.
His eyes turned icy as he scanned the documents, his voice cold as frost, “Who gave you the right to abort my child?” The veins stood out on his hands, taut with barely contained anger.
Clara scoffed as she read the doctored medical report. Heidi had some nerve to manipulate hospital records like that. Clara’s hemorrhage had been twisted into a narrative of a patient’s choice to terminate the
pregnancy.
With a chilling gaze, Clara retorted, “That child was mine too. If you hadn’t ignored me, he wouldn’t have died!” Her voice was almost a rasp, haunted by the memory of lan’s indifference to her cries for help.
lan’s grip on her chin was unyielding, his eyes dark with an intensity she had never seen before.
