Chapter 748
**Hypocrisy!**
Fanny silently scoffed. One moment he's denying it, the next he's admitting it. Wasn't it just an excuse to reject someone? Why not just be straightforward?
"Don't believe me? Ask her," Sinclair passed the buck to Fanny.
Fanny inwardly rolled her eyes. What did this have to do with her?!
At this point, any girl would realize Sinclair was rejecting her and would just walk away. But instead, the girl turned to Fanny, as if seeking her confirmation.
Fanny didn't blame the girl but shot Sinclair a glare before she could respond. Then Sinclair dropped a bombshell, "She was just asking me about taking my girlfriend to the gynecologist."
Fanny was speechless.
The girl gasped, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment, and then she turned and ran away.
"Looks like you've broken quite a few hearts with that slick move," Fanny teased.
Sinclair merely responded, "The spaghetti's here."
With that, the waiter arrived with their spaghetti, and they began to eat in silence. Fanny noticed Sinclair eating with such focus, it made her take her own meal more seriously.
The place must be popular for a reason because the spaghetti was deliciously spicy, even making Fanny break into a sweat.
In contrast, Sinclair looked as though he was savoring a fine French meal, calm and composed.
After finishing their spaghetti, Sinclair wrapped up the conversation. Fanny bid him farewell, "Uncle, I've got things to do, see you around."
"Fanny," Sinclair called after her, the first time since his return.
It took Fanny back to her childhood, how he used to call her. She looked at him, waiting for what he would say next.
"From now on, if you have any questions, just ask me directly. No need to guess," Sinclair's words made Fanny cringe internally.
As if there would be a next time. She wasn't planning to pry into his business anymore.
Fanny then went to see Shirley.
Before she could even meet her, she
was turned away at the door. Not surprised, Fanny only had to
mention, "Please tell Ms. Travis that Terence sent me."
That name did the trick. Not because of what Fanny said, but because the name Terence held weight.
Shirley not only let Fanny in but also came out to greet her personally, "Have you seen Tyler? Where is he?"novelbin
"Ms. Travis, let's not get worked up. Let's sit down and talk," Fanny surveyed the house, noticing it was filled with children's toys.
"Where is Tyler?" Shirley asked again.
Fanny didn't answer directly but pointed at the toys, "These must be your daughter's favorites, right? She must miss playing with them terribly." Shirley's gaze flickered away for a moment, "Dr. Willis, what are you trying to say?"
"About Terence," Fanny teased her deliberately.
But after a while, without giving the
information Shirley was eager for
Shirley caught on, "Dr. Willis, you musthave more to discuss than just Tyler?"
Fanny smiled knowingly, "Clever, as expected of someone who's been by Mr. Clark's side. But yes, today I'm here to talk about Terence."
"Then, tell me, where is he? Did he send you?" Shirley pressed on.
"He's at the Sapphire Lounge. You know that, Ms. Travis. It's just that you've been unable to meet him in person, right?" Fanny prompted her. Shirley's face paled, "So, you've seen him?"
"No," Fanny said, watching as the hope in Shirley's eyes faded instantly.
Shirley shook her head, "No one can see him... It's impossible..."
Her look of disappointment and despair was genuinely moving. Fanny hadn't expected Shirley to be so devoted. After all these years by Lord Clark's side, her heart still longed for Terence.
Fanny grew curious about Terence, wondering what kind of man could make a woman remain so loyal and love-struck.
"But it's possible," Fanny reignited hope with those three words.
