Nine months too late: After divorce by Baby Charlene

Nine Months Too Late 4

Pain sliced through Sylvie's chest. Did it matter? His previous words had just made her realize how desperate he was for the divorce. She feared he'd hate her and the baby for wanting to be an obstacle. Turning halfway, she looked at him. It's pointless. We're getting divorced, anyway. Her eyes mirrored the depth of her sadness. And it was more painful that Kage didn't seem to care. She opened the door and left.

Kage's rejection hurt like hell. She'd always known she meant nothing to him. But getting that one act that really proved it stung.

She didn't need his help - she concluded. In thirteen days when the divorce papers arrive, she was going to sign them and move on with her life. She'd take care of her baby alone. She was moody at the office and left for a meeting with Mr. Yuto when it was time, her secretary with her.

Mr. Yuto was an investor. And for weeks Sylvie has been preparing a contract with him. It was a contract that was extremely important and expected to boost their sales in a lot of ways.

She met with him and exchanged pleasantries in the small conference room And afterwards, Sylvie proceeded with the details of the meeting.

"I'm afraid we might have to take a break on the contract, Mrs. Hawkins, Mr. Yuto said to her surprise.

Sylvie's brows were furrowed as she looked up from the file and at him.

"Why, if

"Why, if I may ask?"

"The thing is, My team and I received some Intel that your company's currently battling some legal issues at the moment. First, there is one from a former director, charging you with negligence. Also.." Sylvie itched her nape as he went ahead to list the four legal cases that surrounded them.

How in God's name did he get a hold of such information!? was private!

She forced a smile when he finished talking

"Um.... Mr. Yuto, your concerns are valid. But I need you to know there's a misunderstanding. These legal cases are nothing serious. As a matter of fact, we've sorted two already and about rounding up the third and fourth. They're not going to be an issue, I promise you. Mr. Yuto leaned towards his partner beside him who whispered something to his ear.

"I appreciate your proposal, Mrs. Hawkins, but I think we'll need to get back to you," he told her.

Sylvie's hope was dwindling. God, no.

"Come on, Mr. Yuto. You shouldn't let this changes things."

He rose to his feet. "I'm afraid I have to leave now. Take care

Without considering her offer, he departed with his partners.

Sylvie cursed and thumped the table. God damnit! How could this happen!? Someone must've leaked the information to him. -Someone from the inside.

When she'd managed to gather herself, she left with her secretary. However, Sylvie met a very big shock when she got to the exterior and found Mr. Yuto shaking hands with Lana.

Her brain froze for some seconds as she struggled to comprehend the gesture.

Lana was well... Kage's childhood friend. Although, the grump didn't seem like he was capable of any love, but Lana was the closest female in his life, and there was a probability he might have gotten married to her if his father's will hadn't gotten in the way.

Sylvie and Lana were in the same line of business and Lana has been a pain in Sylvie's ass. There were so many opportunities she's taken from her, but Sylvie didn't want to believe Mr. Yuto was going to be one of them.

She waited until Mr. Yuto had gone into his car before approaching Lana who had a wide smile on her face.

"What's the meaning of this? Is it a coincidence that you're at the same place o was supposed to meet my client?" Sylvie could barely contain the anger in her voice. Seeing her. Lana scoffed.

""You're unbelievable. We're in public. Sylvie. Have some class

"Some class? Seriously? After snatching my client? How did you get those private info from my company?"

Lana answered with an eye roll. "Stop being dramatic, alright? It isn't my fault Mr. Yuto chose me. Have a nice day, Sylvie." She began walking away.

Sylvie's hands balled into fists beside her. God, she wanted to strangle her,

Someone leaked that intel from her company. This couldn't be over.

Lana paused, like she suddenly remembered something.

"You know," she walked back to Sylvie. "Phoebe instructed me not to tell anyone about this yet. But... I'm too excited, I feel you should know,"

Phoebe was Kage's mum. Lana clasped her plans in excitement as she made the revelation.

"Kage and I will be getting married as soon as you divorce him. His family had made the proposal already, we've accepted the engagement, and as soon as your contract with him comes to an end, we'll be kicking off." Her cheeks blushed red as she spoke.

Sylvie felt as tho, ice had been poured on her. Her limbs went stiff and her heart stopped beating.

Kage was already making preparations to get married to Lana? That son of a bitch. But why was the news having so much impact on her?

She tried to speak, say something sassy in response to Lana, but the words wouldn't form on her lips. It was as if Lana noticed and giggled.

"It was always going to be me, Sylvie. I don't know what hook you had over Kage's grandpa to make him involve you in his will in that manner, but it's over now, He's mine. With a final smirk, she left.

Sylvie couldn't get back to the office as her day was ruined. First, it was Kage's rejection. Now, Mr. Yuto's. And to think she was about to be divorced in two weeks...

Could her life get any worst!

She spent some boring time at a friend's place before deciding to visit a bar to get a few drinks.Belongs to © n0velDrama.Org.

The baby, her subconsciousness reminded her. But Sylvie was tired of everything

She sat at the bar counter, shutting out the voices of the people around as she took several shots. It seemed to get better with each that she gulped. Her problems were slowly being replaced by the drowsiness from the drinks. "Now why's a pretty ladly like you getting drunk?" A thick, velvety voice reached her ears, a second before the young man took the empty seat beside her.

Sylvir didn't spare

him a glance as she downed the next shot and reached for another.

"Who says pretty ladies can't get drunk? Is there a new law I do not know about?" She slurred

A low chuckle rumbled from his chest. "Definitely, not. And even if there was. I'd make an exception for you. But why's the wife of Kage Hawkins getting drunk? What could possibly make a lady like you depressed?" Furrowing her brows, Sylvie looked at him. Surprise shadowed her drunk face as she quickly recognized the man in front of her.

Good lord!

"Westley Harper She narrowed her eyes.

His smile confirmed it.

What the hell?

Sylvie adjusted herself to sit up. "Wh... What're you doing here? I mean she looked around. She wasn't in a dream. I thought you were out of the country?

Westley Harper was one of the biggest names in the country. Man was a young billionaire, owned a huge entertain industry and also a mega investor.

"Well, I just got back this morning and thought I should visit a bar. Meeting you came as a bonus," he replied, his smile soothing.

Sylvie couldn't believe it. Westley Harper was seated beside her!

The rumours said he was rude and grumpy. But the man beside her was nothing like it

"So, tell me, why is the wife of Kage Hawkins getting drunk? It's a cause for alarm, you know?" He switched topics.

Sylvie's shoulders stiffened. Her eyes fell onto the counter as the weight of her problems rested on her once more.

"It's nothing you should trouble yourself with, Mr. Harper. Please, go have your fun. Don't let me bother you" Instead, Westley rested his hands on the counter.

"Now, why would I want to miss out on an opportunity to be your knight in shining armour!" He smirked Sylvie couldn't suppress the chuckle that built up in her chest.

She downed the next shot.

"Trust me, Mr. Harper, rescuing me would be a folly"

She was on the verge of refilling her shot glass when Westley stopped her.

"I think you've had enough," his hand was on the wine bottle.

Sylvie frowned at him

"Sorry, not to sound rude but, you don't know anything about me. And right now, I need to drink.

She matched the bottle from him and refilled her shot.

Kage's car drove into the mansion and found it's spot. He's had a very stressful day and simply wanted to go in and shower His phone pinged with a message from one of his friends, just as his guard opened the backdoor for him. Remaining in the car, he opened the mess Tunt this your wife hanging out with Westley Harper Bro, no offense, but they look like they have a thing going on

Kage's brows were furrowed as he opened the images and found Sylvie in a bar with Westley. He was holding her bottle, while

she seemed a little drunk.

For half a minute, Kage's mind was blank. He looked at the pictures and couldn't fathom what he felt.

"Sir, are you stepping out? Or do we need to go somewhere?" The guard that'd been holding his door asked.

Sylvie laughed to the umpteen joke Westley was cracking for the night. Since she was drunk, it was easier finding everything funny.

Westley turned out to be her entertainer for the night, and while Sylvie wasn't certain if she'd see him again, or see him in that friendly mood again, she let herself enjoy the moment.

"It's late, Sylvie. I think you should start heading home," he said after a while.

Sylvie's cheeks were flushed. Glancing at her wristwatch, she discovered it was past ten.

"Damn, you're right, she tsked.

But it wasn't because she had a loving family she could return to. It was only because she needed to sleep on time for work the next day.

She gulped her last shot and had begun gathering up her things when someone walked up to them. Turning for a look, her eyes widened like saucers when they landed on Kage.
