Chapter 336
Chapter 336
“Couldn’t she ask someone else for help?” Skyler said angrily. “Yesterday, she gave Kaylee that look. Do you think I didn’t see it?”
Liam’s face turned solemn, “After all Kaylee did to grandpa, what did you expect? Celeste to just let it go?”
“Even at this point, you still speak up for her. Look at your sister’s battered state!” Skyler said angrily.
Liam pursed his lips, “If you hadn’t spoiled her and allowed her to go to the bar after she’d done wrong, would this have happened?”
Skyler’s lips trembled with anger, “Liam! Don’t forget who raised you!”
The police looked bewildered as the two argued and interjected, “Who is Celeste?”
Enraged, Skyler directed her attention to the police officer and recounted the events of the previous day. She then expressed her belief, saying, “It’s clear that she harbored a grudge from yesterday’s incident and took matters into her own hands.”
Kaylee never had any enemies before, but she happened to have an issue yesterday. And then, she was beaten up like this last night. If it’s not Celeste, who else could it be?”
The police thought about it, and Celeste seemed like a suspect. They inquired, “Where is she?”
“I’ll take you to her.”
Liam blocked everyone’s way and said with pursed lips, “Wait a moment. I’ll bring Celeste here. She’s taking care of a patient right now.” The police observed Liam’s reaction and said, “Mr. Reed, we’re just
asking questions as part of our duty. As long as there’s no suspicion, it won’t take long. Asking a question shouldn’t be a problem, right?”
Skyler couldn’t take it anymore and stormed off with the police officers towards Grandpa David’s hospital room, determined to confront Celeste.
Liam’s face was serious, and he left the room to answer a call from Owen.
“Mr. Reed, the surveillance cameras didn’t capture the faces of the people who kidnapped Ms. Kaylee. Plus, the surveillance in the bar area has been tampered with. The police are currently questioning witnesses, but there’s no other news for now.”
“Any idea who tampered with the surveillance?”
“Not sure. The person on duty in the monitor room last night went on leave to visit their hometown, and we can’t contact them.”
Liam paused for a moment and then said, “Find out who did this before the police do.”
“Understood.”
“Have a few more sips.” Celeste quietly encouraged David.
“Let me rest for a while, then I’ll drink more,” David sighed. “I have someone to take care of me here. You should rest at home. What’s the point of coming here so early?”
Celeste put down her bowl. “Ever since I started working for you, I’ve been unable to sleep past 7 AM.”
David chuckled. “Heh heh,” Then he asked, “You didn’t have an argument with Young Reed last night, did you?”
Celeste lowered her eyes, “Why would I argue with him? I don’t want to bother.”
“Truth is, Young Reed isn’t that bad. The girl he found, Elaine,
is
very
attentive.”
“Money can buy anybody, can’t it?” Celeste said dismissively.
“The key isn’t money. It’s care. Your dad and uncle don’t care about the money; they have no such mind. Do you understand?”
Celeste didn’t respond.
“Get your butt home early today, and don’t get mad at Young Reed anymore. If you do, I won’t be able to relax in the hospital, and if I can’t relax, I can’t eat, then my wounds won’t heal, and if they don’t heal, I can’t leave the hospital. So for me to get out of this place sooner, you can’t be angry with him anymore.”
Celeste was left speechless by his persuasive words and reluctantly said, “Fine, got it.”
Immediately after her statement, the ward door swung open with force. Skyler stormed into the room, accompanied by two uniformed officers. Fuming with anger, she pointed towards the individual inside and declared, “That’s her.” This content © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
Celeste was momentarily stunned, her expression turning solemn.
The police officers eyed Celeste, feeling that her face looked incredibly familiar. One of them then asked, “Excuse me, are you Celeste?”
