Chapter 313
Chapter 313
Valeria glared at her unhappily. What was meant to be a flattering comment, she took it seriously. No wonder Skyler looked down on her – no
status and not smart.
Celeste wasn’t really stupid, she just didn’t want to offend Valeria. How Skyler competed with Valeria was her business, as long as it didn’t involve
her.
“Since we’re all gathered here, let’s stop the chitchat. Let’s all find a place to sit.”
As soon as the old lady spoke, everyone quieted down and found a place to sit.
After Liam sat down, the old lady noticed the mark on his forehead and asked with a furrowed brow, “What happened to your forehead?”
Celeste’s heart raced. Liam’s injury was from a stormy night on the cruise ship when she bumped into him.
The bruise was darker when they first returned, but it had faded a lot now.
But the old lady loved her grandson and noticed this issue right away.
Liam glanced at the culprit and answered lightly, “Bumped into something while sleeping.”
“You really should be more careful. I have some medicine in my room; I’ll have Celeste help you apply it later.”Belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
Celeste felt helpless. The wound was on his forehead, and he could reach it himself. Did she really need to help? Liam wasn’t handless.
Of course, she only dared to complain in her heart. She had hurt the old lady’s feelings with the birth control pills incident earlier, and now she wouldn’t dare to defy her. So she obediently agreed.
Afterward, the old lady began to inquire about the younger generation’s recent situation one by one.
Despite her age, the old lady’s mind was still clear. She knew Kaylee was about to graduate, understood her major, knew Skyler was in business with friends, and even knew about Celeste helping her friend shoot a movie.
The old lady was a very tolerant elder. She provided guidance for the younger generation’s lives and work, with very little criticism.
Wesley was eloquent and well–liked by the old lady among the grandchildren.
Of course, her love for Wesley wasn’t quite the same as her doting love for Liam.
Liam lost his father when he was young, and the old lady personally raised him. Besides the grandmotherly love, she was also strict with him as an elder.
Liam’s success was largely due to the old lady’s careful nurturing. If Skyler had been the one to educate him, the result might have been another Wesley. Kaylee was the best negative example.
After the old lady finished asking questions, Valeria spoke, “Time flies, and the kids have grown up so fast. Mom, you’re almost 80 years old, do you have any thoughts for your birthday this year?”
The old lady said softly, “I don’t have any special thoughts, just want to keep it simple.”
“Mom, we can’t just throw a simple party for your 80th birthday. Otherwise, people might think we don’t care. We gotta make it grand!” Valeria continued, “I remember you mentioned during your 70th birthday that you’d love to have Mr. Hilliard sing for you on your 80th. I have a friend who’s tight with Hilliard’s apprentice, maybe she can help us ask if Mr. Hilliard would be down to come.”
The old lady seemed quite interested, but still hesitated, “Didn’t Hilliard quit singing already? Can we really get him?
