Chapter 37
Chapter 37
I was dead tired. My office work had already stressed me out, but compared to everything that
happened at the court trial, my time at the bank felt almost relaxing. I was glad that a kind of justice had
been served, but the events from my time in the headquarters of the Great Council filled me with
anxieties I couldn't even explain.
I knew that the Duke of Calvet had power and authority among other vampires, but the fact that really
worried me was that he had already messed with my father twice in one week. He killed Declan, one of
my father's warriors, and his entire team, and now he had indirectly caused the death of another
important member of my father's pack. Not that any of them hadn't deserved their fate.
Declan alone was responsible for killing half of the pack that once decided to go against my father's
wishes. The pack was weak; they didn't pose a threat to anyone, and they only wished for peace.
Declan and his team attacked that pack, wiping them all out, including women and children. I had never
met Brian Myers. He clearly wasn't a type of warrior, but from the fact that he was working for my
father, I could already guess that he wasn't exactly a saint either. As much as I could call killing them
cruel but righteous, I couldn't shake off the fact that my father wouldn't leave such an insult without an
answer…
I sighed upon entering my room, then dropped my dress onto the floor and went to the bathroom. The
warm water from the shower helped me wash off some of the restlessness. I would gladly put myself to
bed, but I couldn't refuse Sariel. At least Pinot Noir didn't sound like a bad idea.
I walked back to my bedroom and noticed that somebody had placed a beautiful, dark purple evening
dress on my bed. There was also a short note attached to it.
"Wear it," the note said.
For a brief moment, I felt like Cinderella going to a ball, despite the fact that my dress was clearly from
another story, one for slightly "older" children... I smiled faintly and touched it. The fabric was soft and
delicate. I could guess that it cost more than half of my month's salary. I had never worn something like
that in my life. I had never been to a ball either. I couldn't help but smile, feeling like a little girl from a
childhood I had never had.
I put on the dress, and it fitted perfectly. I looked at my reflection in the mirror and hardly recognized
myself. The neckline gently exposed the valley between my breasts. Its fitted cut flattered my waist and
hips, and the slit that ended higher than half of my thigh revealed my quite shapely leg. For the first
time, I thought that all those years of constant training had at least given me a body I could be proud of.
Thankfully, my genes let me develop a fit shape without overgrown muscles.
"I think I look like a… woman." I giggled, turning around in front of the mirror.
I redid my make-up, wore a pair of Louboutins I found beside my bed, and marched towards the dining
room. When I was getting closer, I heard Dominique's laughter. I guess they started celebrating without
me. I knocked on the door.
"Come in, Lilith," Dominique sang cheerfully.
I entered with a nervous smile on my face. Sariel was sitting at the end of the table, facing the
entrance. Dominique was sitting on his right side.
"Sit in front of me," Dominique called, chuckling.
My smile became even more nervous as I walked through the entire room to take my seat where she
pointed, which was on Sariel's left side.
"My, my… If you don't mark her brother, then I will gladly do so." Dominique licked her lips while looking
me up and down.
"Lilith is not a lesbian like you, dear sister," Sariel commented with a smirk on his face, then took a sip
of wine from his glass.
"But maybe she would like doing it with a girl. You don't know unless you try." She winked at me.
I restrained myself from answering her. I already felt awkward feeling her devouring me with her eyes,
and somehow I felt that saying that I preferred men wouldn't exactly help me feel more comfortable. On
the contrary, it might just add more fuel to the fire Dominique had ignited.
Finally, I managed to sit down. Instantly a servant appeared out of nowhere to serve me a delicious- Nôvel(D)rama.Org's content.
looking Beef Wellington and poured me a glass of wine.
"I knew her breasts would look delicious in this gown." Dominique grinned wickedly at Sariel.
He glared at his sister, but then cautiously examined my appearance in detail.
"Like I wasn't flustered enough before!" My hysteric mind sent thousands of signals through my body to
speed up my heartbeat.
"Indeed, she looks quite delectable." Sariel's voice sounded more alluring than ever.
There was something savage in the way he said it. I tried to cover my hysteria with a smile. My eyes
wandered around the room until they accidentally found Sariel's. I saw his grey pupils light with a shade
of red. I gulped. I was unable to control my excitement. I let the overwhelming arousal fill every inch of
my skin, making the soft spot between my thighs more and more humid. I clenched my teeth.
"Lilith! For God's sake, control yourself! Not even one of his fingers touched you, but you are wet
already?!" I cursed my brain for being unable to control the rest of my body.
Sariel smirked, "Taste the wine. It'll make you less nervous."
I wanted to punch him for teasing me in this way, but then I thought he could be right. I took a deep
breath and elegantly brought a glass to my lips. I had to admit that the Pinot Noir tasted amazing. My
whole body might have been far away from satisfaction, but my taste buds certainly had an orgasm.
"You like it, don't you?" Dominique grinned, "Nineteen seventy-five is my favorite year."
"It tastes fabulous." I smiled, happy that I could talk about some un-sex-related subject.
"I love to drink it… especially after sex." She chuckled playfully.
"Seriously?!" said my hectic mind.
"Dominique…" Sariel sighed, slightly scolding her manners, then looked into my troubled eyes.
"Did I say something wrong?" she asked, blinking her long lashes, then a malicious grin appeared on
her face, "Brother, you look like you're much too tense. You should release your stress more often."
Sariel glared at her and finished his glass of wine. I did the same, hoping that the alcohol would shut
down my irrational behavior. Of course, it worked as I hoped it would. The more I drank, the more I lost
control over my senses and instincts. One thing improved, I stopped caring about how I acted that
much. Dominique giggled and refilled our glasses with another bottle of Pinot Noir.
"Can't you remember how good it feels to sink your fangs into the flesh while letting the desire take
over your body?" Dominique played with fire.
My hands literally began to tremble, and it wasn't because of fear. I thought it would be safer not to look
at either of the Calvets at the moment. I grabbed my knife and fork and put all of my focus on the beef
Wellington. I truly hoped that they would ignore me at least for a while, but that didn't happen.
"I know what you are afraid of, brother. Lilith's scent is so good that it would be impossible to stop
draining her blood. It is a good thing that her whole body is delicious as well, so sex should definitely
stop you from killing her. You should stop banging those vamp-whores and try her instead."
Dominique's casual-sounding advice to her brother almost made me choke on the beef.
I didn't know if I should feel offended by her straightforwardness, in which she completely ignored that I
might have something to say on this matter, but my thundering heart made me unable to think straight.
I decided to finish my meal and use any excuse to leave.
"Dominique, stop poking your nose into my sex life. Lilith and I have a contract. She is my employee
and I'm merely granting her safety," Sariel tossed as if his sister's bold suggestion didn't affect him at
all.
I sipped most of my second glass and started to feel calmer. The wine slowly accumulated within me,
loosening tension in my muscles. I knew that drinking more wasn't the wisest thing I could do, but at
least it was making my heart slow down a bit.
"You could protect Lilith better if you marked her. You know well that she would become untouchable if
you did that," Dominique insisted, glancing at me and Sariel.
"I am not doing it, period," Sariel stated coldly.
Dominique clicked her tongue and glared at her brother. Then she grinned at me, opening another
bottle.
"More wine?" she asked, but didn't bother to wait for my answer, and filled my glass.
I took a sip from the glass almost automatically. My alcohol tolerance wasn't too bad, but this precious
Pinot Noir started to softly hum inside my head. I looked into Sariel's and Dominique's eyes, examining
their expressions. Why did I get the feeling that I was the only one being affected by alcohol?
