Chapter 80
Chapter 80
The moment was getting somewhat awkward. Sonia didn’t dare to even raise her head, knowing that Ava was an important client of the company’s Stugan City branch. The main reason Alex came here was to sign the contract with her.
Alex closed his eyes, his thoughts concealed. Meanwhile, Nina smiled as the sneer in her eyes became obvious. She looked at Sonia and said, “Is there anything you want to say?”
“I…” Sonia looked at Alex pitifully when her name was being called. The man opened his eyes and looked at Nina who was acting all smug. He had just wanted to speak when a clear voice cut him off.
Candice got up with a smile and raised the wineglass in her hand. She gave Sonia a look before slowly saying. “Ms. Goodman, Sonia’s my personal assistant. She is indeed still an intern. I called her over to help because I injured my hand a few days ago.”
The smile on her face was maintained as her tone sounded sincere. “If there’s anything that you and Ms. Burgess are unhappy with, I’ll drink this as an apology on her behalf.”
Candice picked up and drank the entire glass after she finished it.
The
e way Ava looked at her was different, but she quickly returned to her usual self.
However, Aether Corporation was indeed the best partner she could ask for, and so she used the chance that Candice had given her and gave her a light nod.
The atmosphere had returned to how it was earlier. However, Sonia kept on grabbing the end of her outfit nervously and looked at Candice before looking back.
Candice put down the glass and then saw how Sonia looked at her. She then said, “Sonia, can you get another
bottle of wine?”
Sonia was stunned. There was no wine on the table. It was obvious that Candice wanted her to leave.
She gritted her teeth and said nothing.
However, Alex looked at her with his dark eyes and said, “Listen. You should go for now.”
Not only was Sonia stunned, but even Candice gave him a look.
In the end, Sonia had to leave even with her eyes still red.
Ava’s expression brightened a little, and Candice used this chance to guide their conversation toward the
contract.
She was used to steering conversations, so she was naturally able to bring them back on topic.
However, she was sitting a bit further away, so it was not convenient for her. So, she switched her seat and
sat next to Alex.
Candice had just drunk some wine. When she got close to Alex, the scent of alcohol drifted toward him.
Alex’s hand with the wine glass paused as he turned to look at her.
Candice thought he was upset that she sat next to her. She lowered her eyes and then whispered at a volume that only they could hear, “It’s more convenient this way. I can’t switch seats anymore.”
After she said that, she then wanted to grab a paper towel. However, Alex had just wanted to put the wine glass back on the table, and their bumped arms
Candice quickly pulled her hand back and continued chatting with Ava as if nothing had happened. Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
However, Ava wasn’t in too much of a mood to listen. After she had finished, she then asked Alex, “When are you going back to Dorrington City?”
Candice had taken back the form that she had just wanted to give to Ava. It was obvious that no matter what she said, Ava wouldn’t listen.
Alex’s expression didn’t betray his thoughts, but his tone was calm as he said, “I’m going back after work.”
“Is there anything else that requires you to be here?” Ava glanced at Candice and said, “Or are the people by your side all so useless that they can’t even solve the issues at the branch office?
“When I was on my way back home, Helen called me, hoping that you would go back soon.” When Ava said that, she unintentionally glanced at Candice.
