My Mirror Image by Maybe Not (Candice And Alex’s)

Chapter 8

Chapter 8

Before Candice could give the bottles of water to Sonia, Alex woke up.

He asked in a deep voice, “Settled?”

“Mhmm. The driver will take full responsibility and he has already contacted his insurance company.”

Candice went straight to Alex, twisted the bottlecap and gave it to him.

Her voice was slightly gentler than usual. “I’ve also contacted the person in charge of the party. I’ll send you there later.”

Candice was able to take care of everything meticulously and confidently.

Alex took gulps of water from the bottle.

The two of them looked so harmonious together, to the point it formed an imaginary barrier around them.

Sonia watched in silence for a while and only went up to Alex after he finished drinking.

With a lowered head and a bitter voice, she apologized, “I’m sorry Mr. Elysian. If not for me, you wouldn’t have gotten hurt.” Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.

Alex put the bottle aside and waved at her. “Come here.”

Sonia paused for a moment before she sat down beside him.

Alex put his bandaged hand in front of her and asked softly, “Scared?”

Sonia remained quiet, her head lowered.

Alex giggled. He tilted the girl’s face up with his other hand and consoled her, I’m not scared, so what are you scared of?”

Sonia pouted. Her face puffed as she stared at him and stammered, “I’m scared that it hurts.”

She spoke softly but Candice heard her.

Candice looked down at the bottle of water that Alex put away. It was almost hitting the floor.

“Alex Elysian, is Alex Elysian’s family here?”

The nurse came out of the emergency room with an X–ray film, searching for Alex’s family. She spotted Alex and then Candice, so she instinctively gave the X-

“This is his X–ray. Take it to the doctor.”

Sonia wanted to get up to take the film but she froze and quietly sat down. She forced a smile as looked at Candice, pretending nothing had happened.

Candice held the X–ray film as she looked at the girl. She waited for the girl to

speak but then Alex said nonchalantly, “Take it to the doctor. I have something to talk to Sonia about.”

Sonia watched as Candice walked away. She seemed grumpy.

Alex asked, “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing. I just feel that you and Candice are much more suited for each other.”

She tightened her lips right after the words escaped her mouth and carefully looked at Alex.

It was a test; a test to find out Alex’s true thoughts.

Alex went silent for a moment and he laughed. He casually answered, “Suitable? I hated her boring and uninterested look. She bores me.”

Sonia blinked a few times.

Alex said something else and it put a bright smile on her face.

Candice was standing at the corner, wanting to give the other bottle of water to Sonia but she was rooted when she saw the scene.

Alex called her boring and uninteresting.

Alex’s hand was fine. All he needed was a few days of rest to recover.

When Candice came back with the medicine, Alex and Sonia had returned to normal.

There was a hint of obvious delight in Sonia’s eyes and it affirmed Candice that what she heard and saw was not a dream.

On the way back, Candice did not say a word. She dropped Sonia off before driving back to her neighborhood with Alex.

The car was parked. Candice pulled the key out and asked, “So you and her, is it confirmed?”

When Sonia got out, Candice saw through the rear mirror that she kissed Alex on the cheek.

Alex nodded.

“Since when?”

“Just now. She’s jealous of you. I had to cheer her up,” he said.

Candice tightened her grip on the car key. “Why was she jealous of me?”

Alex looked at her black dress. “Don’t wear black anymore. It looks terrible on you.”

Candice pursed her lips.

Did she look terrible in it or did Sonia not like it?
