Chapter 21
Chapter 21
Alex brought Sonia to the party nevertheless, but everyone could tell that they just had an argument.
Sonia sat down in a corner with a blank face and Alex did not even bother to cheer her up or console her.
Sieg and Alex were rather close, so he went over to Alex with a glass of wine for a chat.
“Alex, are you serious with the girl?”
Alex barely responded. He asked, “What do you think?”
“Nothing in particular. I just want to say if you are serious about her, then cheer her up, don’t make things worse.”

Sieg gestured at Sonia’s spot as he spoke.
Sonia was particularly young and not great at concealing her emotions. The sorrow and grief were smeared all over her face.
Sieg scoffed cheekily and said, “Not everyone is as good–tempered as Candice. You wave at her and she’ll come wagging her tail.”
Alex’s friends disliked Candice for two reasons.
First of all, her aloofness. Other than Alex, she rarely talked to others.
Secondly, her obedience. She was so obedient and complied with Alex’s every request to the point that people thought she had no temper.
Even when Alex wanted to spend the night with another woman, she would book the hotel at his request and could even hand him the keycard herself with a poker face.
The rich young men carried an air of superiority over the others and fancied an obedient woman, but not to Candice’s extent.
Therefore, Candice could not be one of them and they never took her seriously.
Sieg then went off to chat with the others.
As soon as he left, Sonia then eagerly came over.
Alex looked at her, “Still mad?”
Sonia said meekly, “I’m not mad. It’s just that whenever I saw Candice, I couldn’t

She looked at Alex with a probing gaze. “Candice is perfect. I bet she has a lot of admirers.”
Candice spent the weekend at home and finally recovered on Monday morning.
When she arrived at the office with the document that she amended for Sonia, she
received a transfer notice.
She was reassigned away from the CEO’s office.
The position remained but it was actually a demotion.
Everyone in the office looked at her strangely. Only Sonia went up to her and held her hand with a regretful look. “Candice, I’ve only learned so much from you.”
Candice tossed the document on the table and said emotionlessly, “You didn’t
learn that much. I’ve redone the whole file.”
Sonia’s expression stiffened.
Candice pulled her hand away and strode into the CEO’s office.
Alex was going through a document when she came in. He looked at her calmly.
Candice asked, “I want an explanation. What did I do wrong?”
Alex looked at her with his deep gaze. He was wearing a formal gray suit that complemented his handsome looks.
Candice realized it had been a while since she saw him in formal wear.
Her fingers curled, pretending to be calm. She asked, “I need an explanation if you want to transfer me. Tell me the truth.”
Alex’s fingers stopped at the tip of the page. He said, “The truth is Sonia felt pressured around you.”
He then added, “If you are capable, you can excel at any place. She can’t. She’s still young.”
Sonia was young, so Alex could not bear to see her under pressure.
However, he seemed to have forgotten that when Candice started following him, she was two years younger than Sonia was now.
Even now,
she was not much older than Sonia.
When Candice walked out of the office, the others were helping Sonia keep her things.
Candice had the best seat in the office and now it belonged to Sonia. Her stuff was already boxed and placed in a lonely corner. Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g
