Chapter 3 The Beauty of Susie
Chapter 3 The Beauty of Susie
As Leo was still hesitating about what to do, Susie took a few steps forward, lifted the veil, and gently laid a kiss on his lips.
Then came the silence.
“Wait, was I kissed? That was it?”
Leo didn’t even get to feel it before Susie stepped back, nor did he see what Susie really looked like since she dropped the veil as she moved her lips away from his. It was like nothing more than a have- to-do mission for Susie.
Eventually, the wedding’s finished.
The maids helped Susie back to the dressing room where Leo was stopped as he was following Susie.
“Sir, stop here please.”
“I need to talk to her.”
“A moment please, Miss Hua is getting changed.”
Leo had to stay outside. Five minutes later, the door opened. He strode in, finding himself in a large suite where Susie had put on an elegant red gown. She was sitting at the dresser; Leo could only catch her profile from where his was standing.
Susie spoke as Leo was walking up to her: “My thanks, for what happened today.”
“That’s it? To me it looked like a big favor I did for you.”
True, it could’ve ended up as a ridiculous farce without Leo.
Even though Hua’s family had lost quite much fame in the River City, they still held on to their dignity, which they would not allow to be ridiculed.
“I do understand. I shall visit you in person with a present which would be worthy enough for your help as my gratitude, your deed will be sincerely appreciated. If the day come when my help is needed, I would give all I have to assist. What say you?”
She has a charming voice which Leo quite enjoys listening to.
What’s more interesting is that she spoke in an old-fashion way, nearly poetic, like a medieval lady of aristocracy.
His curiosity escalated: “And what about us? The wedding meant nothing then? We just swore to be each other’s only lover for the rest of our life, and there were thousands of people watching!”
“I wasn’t left with many choices, and your intelligence should’ve told you that the wedding was only pro forma and had led to no legitimate marital responsibilities. When this all come to an end, me and my family will file a divorce application and claimed that it was caused by my abnormal personality thus the reputation of you and your family shall be preserved well. What say you?”
There was an untold but heartwarming sensation running through Leo every time Susie finished her words with” What say you.” Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g
It felt amazing, and even though he doesn’t judge women by their looks, Susie’s profile was astonishingly beautiful to him.
He smiled furtively as he covered his mouth with one hand and said: “Reputation…I, a young and quite promising man would be someone who have already married once after all this, who would take that fall for me?”
“And I have made it clear that I will make it up with a present, worthy enough.” Susie sounded a bit indifferent.
“And…is it that you think my family is short of money? “Barely holding back his laughter, Leo asked.
