Chapter Twenty One
Chapter Twenty One
Corinna
Malakai stands in front of me, watching me carefully with narrowed eyes, anger and confusion are clear
in them, making me gulp. I chew on my lip trying to figure out if there's a way to get myself out of this,
when I realise there's not I hang my head. This is not the way this was supposed to happen.
" Okay listen Kai, I can explain- "
" I sure hope you can Corinna, I'd love to hear your explanation because I have no fucking idea what's
going on anymore. What the hell are you?! " He cuts me off.
" I.. Have you ever heard about the hybrid? " I ask him.
His eyebrows furrow but he nods his head. " Of course I have, nearly everyone has at this point, I don't
know much just like everyone else. What has that got to do with anything? "
" I'm the hybrid Kai, I'm half witch, half wolf. My father found his mate, my mum, who was a witch but
she had masked her scent so she didn't smell like a witch, she just smelt human. They mated and had
me. When I was a kid she suppressed my gifts after she'd gotten discovered, hoping that it would save
my life, it did until my gifts were awakened on my eighteenth birthday, I exposed myself straight away
because when they were awakened my gifts caused me to release a large amount of energy that sent
my father, and my uncle who is also my alpha flying across the 'Main Street' as we call it, of our land.
I ran from them to save myself, they told me I was an abomination, that they should've killed me when I
was a child. They've been hunting me ever since. That's why I have scars all over my body, that's why I
tried to run when we met because they're one of the largest packs in the country and they've ripped
apart anyone who they knew helped me over the years. " I tell him, an unexpected feeling of relief
overwhelms me.
" When were you going to tell me? " Kai frowns. " Were you even going to tell me? "
" Yes, I just I didn't know when. " I sigh, running a hand through my hair.
Kai shakes his head, turning away from me. " Where are you going? " I call, he ignores me walking
further away.
" Kai! Where are you going! " I shout, running after him.
When I take hold of his arm he shrugs me off and whips around. " No! You lied to me Corinna. "
" I- I didn't lie Kai, you have to understand it's hard to trust people in my situation. " I try to make him
understand.
" You lied! You lied to everyone, including your beloved. You could've trusted me Cori. " Sadness fills
his eyes and guilt rises in me.
" I'm sorry. " I whisper, my eyes begin to tear up. " Can you please forgive me? "
" I just need time to process this Corinna. " He mumbles, walking away from me again, this time I don't
chase after him. Nôvel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.
Instead I go back to the house, wrapping my arms around myself as I walk, not paying anyone any
attention as I walk through the living room and up to my room. Immediately shutting the door behind
me, crawling into the bed wrapping myself in the blankets as tears crowd in my eyes.
Had I completely messed everything up? Would Kai not want me now that he knows?
Sighing, I pull the blanket wrapping myself in it as much as I can, so only my eyes and nose are
peaking out. I turn on my side to stare out the window, as my anxiety takes over all of my thoughts
speeding through my mind, all of my worries start to seem like reality.
It takes me hours but eventually I exhaust myself to the point of passing out. When I wake up it's dark
out, I can hear crowds people chatting to each other inside and outside of the house. I screw my eyes
shut, I'd almost forgotten about Dahlia's party.
Forcing myself out of bed, I take a quick shower. After blow drying my wet hair, I leave it to fall down to
my waist in it's natural blonde waves. I apply a little makeup, then slide on a light blue silk backless
body-con dress with thin straps. I step into white pump heels, then wander over to my clothes from
earlier to get Dahlia's bracelet.
Once I've placed it in a small black box and wrapped red ribbon around it to make a bow, I sit it down
on my pillow so I can give it to her later when the sun starts to rise.
Walking over to the door, I pause when I reach for the handle. Nervous thoughts attack my mind, but I
push open the door in spite of them and make my way downstairs into the living room, pushing past
crowds of people when I'm off mine and Malakai's floor.
