Chapter 6
Chapter 6
At that moment, Stanley’s mind went blank because he never thought that his boss would shake
Christopher’s hand so politely.
Isn’t Christopher just a soldier of the lowest rank? Why is Boss shaking hands with him?
Suddenly, he felt as though his brain wasn’t processing the information aptly at what he was looking at.
He had no idea what was going on.
One of them was a retired soldier, and the other was the general manager of one of the most powerful
companies in the city, but they were shaking hands with each other.
The difference in their status was a world apart, yet the general manager was attempting to appease
the soldier, and not the other way round.
Naturally, Stanley’s men had never seen Truman before. When they saw him running toward them
covered in sweat and then offered to help Christopher settle his debt, they thought he was crazy. After
all, what kind of boss would act like that?
“God d*mn it, here comes another idiot! Maybe he’s a retired soldier, too!” They laughed mockingly.
Frank, Cindy, and Julianna initially thought Christopher was familiar with some rich men. After they
heard what Stanley’s men said, they let out a sigh of disappointment. They didn’t believe that a recently
retired soldier would know a big shot.
Not only that, the big shot came prepared to repay a debt in millions.
If someone like Fabian wasn’t willing to lend money to them, there was no way a stranger would be
kind enough to do so.
“Let me teach this idiot a lesson too, Mr. Cadwell…” One of Stanley’s men pointed at Truman and was
prepared to keep spouting insults.
It was then Stanley returned to his senses, and he started freaking out. He’s my freaking boss, you
bloody idiot! How dare you insult him! Are you trying to get all of us in trouble?
Without hesitation, Stanley slapped the man who spoke earlier violently. The slap was so hard that the
guy fell to the ground. He was about to hurl insults again before he saw it was Stanley who slapped
him. Confused, he stared at him aggrievedly. “Why are you hitting me, Mr. Cadwell?”
Stanley didn’t care about his men at all and shakingly stood in front of Truman with an appeasing smile.
“W-Why are you here, Mr. Santos?”
The moment he uttered that sentence tremblingly, the entire area became quiet. Everyone swiftly
stared at the person holding Christopher’s hand tightly.
Suddenly, everyone was staring at Christopher, Truman, and Stanley in dead silence because they
didn’t expect that to happen.
“W-What’s going on, Mr. Cadwell?” one of Stanley’s underlings asked in a trembling voice.
“This is the general manager of Santos Corporation! Are you all blind? Stand in line and greet Mr.
Santos right now!” Stanley roared at his men.
All his underlings promptly stood in line and greeted Truman like a bunch of lapdogs. The arrogance
they showed earlier was all gone.
“Who are you people? I don’t know any of you!” Truman exclaimed. Nôvel(D)rama.Org's content.
“I’m the younger brother of Ford, who worked in the marketing department of Celestial Fox Corporation,
a subsidiary of Santos Corporation, Mr. Santos. I met you once when you came to our company for an
inspection last time. I’m currently here to collect a debt, you see. I didn’t expect him to be your friend,
Mr. Santos. It’s just a misunderstanding,” Stanley replied in a shaky voice.
Truman didn’t expect the gang of people in front of him to be his employees.
While Celestial Fox Corporation was only a part of Santos Corporation in the technical sense, he was
the biggest stockholder in Santos Corporation.
He was feeling pretty upset because there was no way he could claim Stanley and his men weren’t
affiliated with him.
Of course, it was all because of Christopher. He knew that even the richest man in the city, Dennis
Hubbard, would have to show Christopher respect. And yet, there he was, offending someone as scary
as Christopher.
Oh my god! Truman felt his head was spinning, so much so that he almost passed out.
At that moment, all he could feel was despair.
On the contrary, Christopher simply smiled. “Ah, Mr. Santos. It has been many years since I last met
you. Your son used to be my classmate, you know. I didn’t expect you to visit me personally!”
Truman became a shrewd man long ago after working in the business industry for many years. That
was why he instantly realized what Christopher was really implying. He knew Christopher’s status and
identity were very special. Most importantly, he didn’t want to be exposed. Otherwise, Christopher
wouldn’t have shown up at that kind of place.
“Yes, it has been many years. I thought I saw you earlier, so I came by and check!” Truman smiled and
whispered, “How should I deal with them?”
Christopher was lying about being Truman’s son’s classmate to hide his true identity. However, Truman
knew Christopher’s status was so high up that even he wasn’t fit to lick the latter’s boots!
Even though Christopher was wearing a worn-out military camouflage outfit and was a retired soldier
on the surface, his true power was so great that even Dennis would have to bow before him.
“They are your people, Mr. Santos. I’ll let you decide,” replied Christopher smiling.
“Okay, okay!” Truman immediately turned around and shouted at Stanley, as well as his underlings.
“Apologize to him right now! If he doesn’t forgive you all, I won’t let you all go either!”
Stanley was spooked. His boss was worth hundreds of millions, and Santos Corporation was a
powerful company worth billions. Stanley knew if Truman was pissed off, then he and his men would
meet a terrible end.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Murray! I’m sorry! This is just a misunderstanding!” Stanley and his men began
apologizing politely.
Then, they turned to Christopher and apologized to him too. The turn of events made Frank feel good.
Christopher was too lazy to deal with small fries like Stanley and his goons, so he waved his hand at
Truman and said, “Forget about it, Mr. Santos.”
“Get lost, all of you. Once you return to Ford, tell him to let the finance department know all of you
aren’t getting any bonus this year. On top of that, I will deduct your salary for the next three months.”
Truman then waved his hand after he spoke angrily.
Stanley and his men immediately replied, “Yes, Boss. We’ll be leaving now.”
Frank didn’t expect his son-in-law, despite being an ex-soldier, to know the general manager of Santos
Corporation. If he knew about that beforehand, he wouldn’t have been afraid of Stanley.
“Let’s invite Mr. Santos to our home for a drink, Christopher. Due to unforseen circumstances, our
factory had caused Celestial Fox Corporation some losses. I apologize for that, Mr. Santos,” Frank
said.
He had always looked down on Christopher for being a retired soldier and never once called out his
name that nicely. However, after he saw that Christopher was familiar with Truman, he immediately
changed his tune and smiled brightly.
“Yes, yes, let’s have a drink and chat at our house!” Cindy was getting pretty enthusiastic, too. After all,
even at the Murrays’ peak, they were nothing compared to Santos Corporation.
Truman glanced at Christopher and saw an icy expression on his face. He couldn’t help but tense up.
The truth was, he did follow Christopher over, so if he offended him because of what he did, Santos
Corporation would probably be doomed.
“There’s no need for that. I still have some matters to attend to. By the way, Celestial Fox Corporation
will not cancel the collaboration with your factory because of a few minor mistakes. Additionally, our
company needs another batch of products, so I’ll come over to your factory to sign a contract with you
tomorrow. I’ll make your factory our outsource partner,” Truman said all that with a smile because he
was afraid that Christopher might get angry.
“Thank you, Mr. Santos! Thank you so much! You’re the Murray family’s savior!” Frank got so emotional
that he almost cried while Cindy was wiping her tears away at the side.
Initially, they had to fork out more than a million as compensation. If they couldn’t pay up, they would
have to go to jail. However, that problem was solved and they even secured a contract with Santos
Corporation.
We are going to be rich!
Julianna also let out a sigh of relief and stared at Christopher. I didn’t expect Christopher to solve our
family’s crisis on his first day back.
“All right, then. We’ll talk about the contract tomorrow,” said Truman.
“We’ll see you out,” Frank offered passionately.
“No need. It’s all right.” Truman swiftly shook his hands. Are you kidding me? If I make Christopher’s
family send me out, I might land in trouble! I don’t want that!
Christopher smiled faintly and suggested, “Dad, Mom, I’ll send Mr. Santos out. You two should go back
first.”
When he finished speaking, he turned his smile toward Truman, which terrified the general manager. It
wasn’t until both of them headed to a quiet corner that Christopher questioned Truman coldly, “You
have some guts to investigate me!”
Christopher’s identity as the leader of Draco Battalion was a piece of top secret information. If Truman,
a mere general manager of a company, was on military grounds, he would’ve been shot dead for his
stupid act.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Yaeger. I wasn’t investigating you. When I saw you and Mr. Hubbard at the club, I got
curious and followed you. I wanted to greet you, but I didn’t expect to encounter that situation. It’s my
fault for not managing my subordinates better, Mr. Yaeger. Please forgive me,” Truman hastily
apologized.
After Christopher finished listening to Truman’s words, he shook his head resignedly. He thought
Truman was investigating his identity. So the real reason this guy saw me is because of Dennis. I
guess hanging out with the richest man in Jadeborough has put me in the spotlight unnecessarily.
He softly replied, “Consider yourself lucky. If you didn’t encounter me today, Santos Corporation will
probably be in ruins soon.”
When Truman heard that, he shook nervously. If it was anyone else who said that, he would’ve just
snorted and treated it as a joke. However, the young man in front of him was someone who even the
richest man in Jadeborough had to show respect. Oh my, I wonder what kind of a monster is he?
“Thank you, Mr. Yaeger. I’ll listen to your command from now on. I’ll even lay down my life for you too!”
he swore sincerely.
“Mhm. Remember, don’t leak out any information about my identity. You know what’ll happen if you do.
I’ll give Mr. Hubbard a call later to stop them. All right, you can leave now. Remember, don’t expose my
identity when you sign the contract at the factory tomorrow,” Christopher reminded plainly.
“Yes, yes, Mr. Yaeger. I’ll keep that in mind. This is my personal name card. If you need me, just give
me a call.” Truman wiped the sweat on his forehead away and tremblingly handed a business card to
Christopher.
Christopher grabbed the card, pulled out his phone, and sent a message to Dennis: No need to
investigate Santos Corporation any more.
After sending the message, he said, “I’ve asked them to stop investigating your company.”
Once that was done, he turned around and headed back to the Murrays. Truman stared at the slim
young man as cold sweat ran down his back.
Who would’ve thought a retired soldier like him could be that scary? If I wasn’t lucky today, Santos
Corporation would’ve been done for.
“That was a close shave!” He had been in the business industry for a very long time and had seen
many things. However, what happened earlier was the scariest moment in his life.
When he returned to his Maybach, he was still pretty stunned. Christopher’s words from earlier
repeated endlessly in his mind. When the driver, Jim, saw that, he asked, “What’s wrong, Mr. Santos?”
“It’s nothing, Jim. Just don’t say a word about what you saw today, especially that young man. If you
say anything at all about what happened, you’ll really live in a nightmare.” A fierce look flashed across
Truman’s eyes as he muttered.
“All right, I understand. I’ve been with you for many years, after all. Don’t worry.” Jim didn’t know what
was going on, but he could sense the young man he saw earlier was a dangerous character. Truman
nodded. “Take me back to the company. I need to draw up a contract to sign with the Murrays
tomorrow.”
