Chapter 1482
Stephen immediately sensed the coldness in Simona's voice. It made him feel uneasy.
"Simona, what's going on with you? Is there some kind of misunderstanding between us?" He had not slept all night, having gone from the highs of hope to the depths of despair.
Once again, he found himself broke. And at such a low point, Simona's coldness toward him as his girlfriend was a slap in the face. It hurt deeply, and he couldn't bring himself to accept it.
"What I said that day at the park was true, Stephen. Let's break up. I've been confused for a while, and I didn't know why I got back with you. But after thinking it through these past couple of days, I've realized that we shouldn't be together," Simona said, repeating her decision.
Although part of her still couldn't fully understand why she felt so torn, she knew deep down that continuing like this would only lead her to lose herself altogether.
Stephen was seething with anger. His eyes burned with rage as he grabbed Simona's hand. "No, something's not right. Someone must have said something to you, right? Someone's been stirring things between us. You believed them, didn't you?"
Simona was stunned. "What are you talking about? This is between us. No one knows we're back together. These past couple of days, I've suddenly had some clarity. I've carefully considered our situation and future.
"We're on different paths and want different things, so why should we keep holding on? Our views and expectations for the future are different, and our values don't align. It's better for both of us to part ways respectfully."
"No, you can't just break up with me. You can't just say it's over like that! After everything I've done for you, how can you just walk away?" Stephen's eyes turned redder.
His grip tightened on Simona's wrist, as if he were trying to snap it in half.
Simona winced in pain, and her expression hardened. "Stephen, what are you doing? Let go of me! What do you mean, you've done so much for me? Who's been giving more in this relationship? I don't want to fight with you again. Not like this."
Looking at him, she wondered what had clouded her judgment. She wondered how she had ever believed Stephen was her true love.
There were even times when she feared that if she lost him, she would never find anyone who loved her more than he did.
But now, it all seemed so foolish. Stephen wasn't as great as she had once thought. She realized her own emotions had blinded her.
Stephen's eyes reddened even more. "Simona! I'm the one you love the most. I love you so much. Is this how you're going to treat me? I refuse to break up! As long as I disagree, you're still my girlfriend."
Simona chuckled coldly. "Trying to play the tough guy, huh? This won't work for me. Maybe it would scare some other girls, but not me. I said we're breaking up, and that's final. Your opinion doesn't matter.

With that, she pushed him away forcefully and turned to walk back to campus. Stephen, unwilling to give up, ran after her and blocked her path.
"Don't just walk away! Have you
fallen for someone else? Aren't you afraid people will think you're being unfaithful? Or that you're only after money?" Stephen's eyes burned with an unhinged intensity. "Do you think I'm too poor for you? Is that it? Do you look down on me now?" His emotions twisted into a dangerous obsession. novelbin
Simona rolled her eyes. "Yes, I'm tired of you being poor. Is that enough for you?"
She hadn't considered Stephen petty before, but now, it was impossible to ignore how petty he had become.
"You!"
"We're done. There's nothing more to say," Simona declared with a firm and decisive attitude, not a trace of hesitation.
Stephen couldn't comprehend it. Just a while ago, Simona had been obedient to him. Now, it was as if everything had changed. The emerald pendant he had bought for 50,000 dollars no longer affected Simona.
However, he couldn't focus on that right now.
