My Flash Romance With the Richest Mogul

Chapter 1405

Joe's gaze slowly fell on the blood test report in Skylar's hand. It was hard to imagine that a child—one that shared both their blood-was growing inside her.

Skylar stood up and said, "Let's talk about this when we're home."

The child belonged to both of them, and they had to discuss it properly. Besides, the time left for them was running short.

On the way home, they sat together in the backseat while Lucas took them home. Skylar looked out the window at the passing scenery, silent and contemplative, barely glancing in Joe's direction.

But Joe held her hand firmly the entire ride. Their feelings were complicated and overwhelming.novelbin

At first glance, it seemed they were waiting until they were ready to decide. But in reality, only one choice was available to them. No one could understand the pain and inner conflict they were both experiencing at this moment.

Finally, they arrived at their new home.

Skylar went to pour two glasses of water. They both sat down.

Taking a sip, Skylar found the water perfectly warm. Joe took a few sips, too, breaking the silence before she could.

"I'll handle the arrangements with the hospital. You don't need to worry about it. I'll make sure you won't feel any pain. Since we can have children after five years, let's wait another five years. Honestly, I'm enjoying having this time with you. I don't want anything coming between us right now-not even our child."

Hearing this, Skylar looked up, her eyes red. "I thought about it the whole way here, trying to find a way to keep this child. But... I know we can't." Whether it was her or Joe, their lives felt borrowed, a second chance paid for by a price too high to recount.

"Don't think too much about it. In five years, this child will come back to us. It's my fault. If I hadn't been in that car accident three years ago, maybe we'd have a child already." Joe placed all the blame on himself, his voice heavy with regret.

Only this way could Joe make Skylar feel a bit better. Hearing his words, she choked up and whispered, "It's my fault too."

If she had realized sooner what she and Joe were up against, maybe she wouldn't have so easily let herself become pregnant. Joe gripped her hand tightly.

"We'll wait the five years. We'll have our child then," he said with quiet conviction.

Skylar looked up, meeting Joe's gaze. They both understood that these five years would be a long and difficult test for them both.

"The day after tomorrow, I'll go to the hospital." Skylar finally made up her mind.

She would take these next few days to feel the bond with her unborn child. They could get to know each

other, and in five years, she would be ready to welcome him or he again.

At Pearlhall Residence, the night was quiet and still. Gloria had barely touched her dinner and now lay in bed after taking a shower, unable to fall asleep.

She tossed and turned, unable to settle.

Edgar usually slept in the next room. Standing outside, he could hear Gloria tossing and turning. He couldn't help but sigh to himself.

No one could have anticipated that life would pay for such a cruel joke on Skylar and Joe.

It truly broke Gloria's heart. She had

been looking forward to having a great-grandchild for so long, and now that she finally had one, Skylar couldn't keep it.

Joe and Skylar were both heartbroken, but Gloria felt their pain even more acutely-perhaps even more than they did.

"Edgar, stop standing out there sighing and go to bed," Gloria suddenly said from inside the room.
