Chapter 1296
The indifferent and distant tone made Skylar acutely aware that Joe's trust in her was almost nonexistent at this point.
Given Joe's current perspective, her pursuit of him from Jipsburg to Murida and her investigation of his whereabouts would naturally fill him with suspicion. So, she wasn't surprised by this reaction.
After quickly gathering herself, she took some documents from her bag. There were also a few photos included—one of Ned wearing glasses and one of Joe.Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.
With Ned's glasses, it was easy to spot the difference between them at a glance, including some distinctions in demeanor.
Joe glanced at the photos with no expression. He skimmed over them briefly before taking a quick look at the documents.
"You and Ned were in the same car accident three years ago. Almost everyone involved died. You were thrown from the car and later mistaken for Ned Sowle and taken to the hospital.
"Meanwhile, the real Ned and your assistant were captured, taken to an unknown location, and restrained..." Skylar spoke as calmly as she could. However, recounting the events from three years ago was deeply painful for her. Fortunately, she managed to explain all the key details to Joe. As Skylar recounted the events, Joe picked up the documents and began to read them. The investigations in these documents were more detailed than what he had previously found.
But what intrigued him more was... "If I am Joe Martin, what was our relationship?"
Skylar was momentarily stunned. The photos and documents she brought did not explicitly state the nature of their relationship, and there was also no mention of her and Joe in past media coverage.
Meeting his gaze, she slowly said, "We were married." Then, she showed him their marriage certificate and a photo.
They had a photo taken with their marriage certificate the day they registered.

where Joe stayed before marriage. She had the key to this place.
She would come over whenever she had time. Although Joe had hired someone to clean the place and prepare dinner, she would still come by to help organize things.
Doing so gave her a strong sense of belonging, as if she were meant to be Joe's wife and he was meant to be her husband.
They belonged to each other. And no one should come between them.
However, tonight, the housekeeper had finished preparing dinner and had left. Joe was supposed to be home by now, but why hadn'the returned?
An inexplicable sense of unease crept in, and she immediately called Joe. But the call went unanswered. Then, she called the psychologist. After a brief inquiry, she was told that Joe had left as usual after the session. Feeling worried, she asked, "Doctor, is there any chance that Mr. Sowle might have regained his memory?" She had opposed Joe seeing a psychologist since the beginning.
She was afraid he would remember the past, so she always told him that the past didn't matter; only their future did.
Yet, he still made appointments with the psychologist, though fortunately, he hadn't remembered anything over the past few years.
