Chapter 1133 A Glimmer Of Hope
As she spoke, she dashed wildly toward the downstairs.
“Chase her! Don't let her get away!”
At Hayden's command, the men immediately chased after Sienna.
Sienna sprinted down over ten flights of stairs, finally reaching the lobby on the first floor.
The men behind her were relentlessly pursuing her, but she had already pushed open the lobby door and ran out.
She had just dashed out of the lobby when a car sped toward her.
She was caught off guard, so she widened her eyes in surprise.
A grating screech of brakes pierced the air.
Sienna was struck by the car and knocked to the ground. She felt a sharp pain in her body and instinctively covered her stomach with both hands. Ouch! It hurts so much...
Beads of sweat dripped from her forehead. She clutched her stomach in pain, curling up on the ground.
“Please... I beg you... Save me...” she begged.
The driver got out of the car, anxiously and fearfully asking, “Ma'am, are you all right?”
He was just an ordinary driver, and he never expected to encounter something like this.
Sienna, trembling, struggled to crawl toward the driver from the ground. A long trail of blood stained the ground between her legs, a sight that was startling to behold.
“Save me... Save my child...”
With a feeble grip, she clung to the driver's pants, her eyes filled with despair and pain as she looked at him. “Save me...” NôvelDrama.Org © content.
A pang of sympathy surged within the driver. Swiftly, he scooped her up in his arms and placed her in the car. Without a moment's delay, he started the vehicle and sped off toward the hospital.
In the hospital, Sienna was immediately rushed to the emergency room.
She lay dazed and in pain on the operating table, her eyes vacant as they stared at the ceiling above. My child... My child... I couldn't keep my child safe the last time around. If I lose this child, I'll lose the only connection with Dixon...
The more she thought about it, the sadder she became, tears continuously spilling from the corners of her eyes.
If Dixon is sentenced to death, I need this child to keep me company. Otherwise, I'll be lonely for the rest of my life. Sienna had never yearned so deeply to bear a child for Dixon. The child is his legacy...
“Your placenta is a bit low-lying, so even without this car accident, there would have been a chance of heavy bleeding.” The doctor quickly approached her and said, “All necessary checks have been done. Relax. If you're anxious, it will affect the baby, even though the baby is still very small. Even as an embryo, he can sense his mother's emotions. Relax. Only when you relax can I help you.”
Sienna stared at the doctor in disbelief. “Are you saying that I haven't lost my child?”
“What we need to do now is to preserve the pregnancy,” the doctor said softly. “It should be possible to save it, so I need your cooperation.”
My child! I still have my child! In an instant, Sienna saw what seemed like a glimmer of hope in life. Wiping away her tears, she uttered, “I won't cry, I won't cry... I'll stop crying!”
“That's the way it should be.” The doctor nodded in agreement.
An hour later, a nurse wearing a medical mask emerged from the emergency room.
Hayden stopped the nurse, his face filled with irritation as he stared at the emergency room door, not even bothering to look at the nurse's face. “Nurse, when will the patient inside be able to come out?”
The nurse spoke in a hushed tone, “It might take another hour or so. I'm not entirely sure.”
“So long?” Hayden grumbled, “Is she giving birth or preventing a miscarriage? This is slower than childbirth!”
“I'm sorry, Sir. I'm not sure either,” the nurse said before quickly walking away.
Hayden and his men had been standing guard outside the emergency room. Another hour passed as they waited.
The doctors and nurses inside had all stepped out. Hayden craned his neck to take a peek inside, but he didn't see the familiar figure he was looking for.
He asked with confusion, “Doctor, where's the patient?”
“The patient? She left a while ago!” the doctor exclaimed in surprise. “Her clothes were stained red with blood, so she borrowed a set of clothes from our nurse.”
