Chapter 18
ZOYA’S POV
I was finding it hard to comprehend the words that were coming out of his mouth. There was no way he was expecting me to actually believe what he was saying.
The air crackled with tension as I stood before Adam, my arms crossed tightly over my chest with eyes ablaze.
“What the hell did you just say?” I yelled at him.
Abar looked taken aback by my sudden hostility, but I had no time to be all jovial and sweet with him.
“You heard me, I met your father today at the office and he proposed that we perform the traditional rites of your marriage” he replied.
“First of all, you said you would only sign a contract if I marry you and now you meet up with my dad to set up a marriage date?” I said in disbelief.
“Look, I don’t have any words right now all I can say is that I have passed the information your father told do with it whatever you want to” he yelled back at me
“I never realized you were like this but I was stupid to think you would be any different. Now you know my background you want to tie me down but sorry to burst your bubbles never I will be tied down” I yelled.
He stared at me, in disbelief, I knew my words were harsh but all I could see at that moment was red, I was not thinking straight I was consumed by rage.
“You are the one who placed me in this situation you seem to forget and I don’t want anything to do with you in the first place I was just an innocent guy who took a work and helped a girl I thought was helpless but instead you were the one who trapped me,” he said his tone calm that it sent chills down my spine.
I expected him to look furious to tell at me but he was unexpectedly calm which surprised me.
“I was naive,” I replied.
“So was I ” he said ” This facade can’t work anymore. I thought I could endure it a little longer but I will not accept to be treated by trash. We might not be of the same status but I am human. And I have my own feelings and I have my own life let’s end this now”
I flinched at his words, the sting of his rejection cutting deep”So, that’s it? You’re just going to walk away?”
“Yes” he said and walked over to his room banging the door loudly.
I had no idea how things escalated to this point. I knew I was being unreasonable but I did not want to tie myself down to any marriage.
My phone suddenly started ringing. I picked it up and it was my dad calling. The reason for this whole altercation.
“Hello, Father” I answered
“Zoya, how have you been?” he asked.
“Well you saw me today father, how did I look?” I replied.
Things were currently still tense between my father and I, ever since the stunt I pulled on my supposed wedding day.
“Your mother misses you and what to see you, ever since you moved over to your husband’s house you have refused to visit or even call her. Are we not your family anymore?” He asked.
“I will visit soon,” I replied.
“I talked to Abrar today and I am sure that he told you about what he proposed. I know you can be quite hot-headed and not think before you act” he said.
“Father I am not a kid,”
“I know that, that is why I am worried about your decision-making skills. Abrar is a good boy although I do not agree with a lot of things that you do. I have no objections to your marriage to Abrar. I have known him for years and he is one of my most diligent workers. I am only worried that you might corrupt him” he said.
“I am not that bad father” I responded.
“Keep telling yourself that. Bring him over when you want to visit and I hope you can resume work as quickly as possible. Stop lazing around at home. You need to earn your keep. You are a married woman now” he said over the phone.
“Okay is that all?” I asked, feeling frustrated.
“Yes,” he replied.” Okay then bye “Ip said before abruptly ending the call.
My father’s words sting a little. It showed how little fate he had in him but I can’t blame him. I have rebelled against him almost all my life. I have given him no reason to trust me. The only thing he trusted me with was business, he knew I would never grumble with that.
It was a new day and after giving it some thought, and weighing my options I decided to go on with my father’s traditional marriage. I could not afford to bring out the truth; it would crush my family’s reputation and also Abrar’s. I placed myself in this situation and now I had to handle it but the only way I would do that was if Abrar signs the contract paper.
I dropped the contract I had drawn overnight and placed it on the table, Abrar was eating breakfast and from the looks of it, he also made breakfast for me.
“What is this?” he asked skeptically as he scanned the paper, his mouth filled with bread.
“I will go ahead with the marriage request but you have to sign this contract. After a year we will end our relationship and this whole facade and go out in desperate ways and you get a sum of five million dollars for all the troubles I caused you” I said.
He stared at me dumbfounded, well I was also surprised by my decision but I had to make it. I had no other choice.
“Think it through and get back to me quickly,” I said, barging out of the house.Copyright by Nôv/elDrama.Org.
It was my first day back to work after my whole marriage announcement so I had to make an appearance.
“Back to work I see,” Kaiser said.
I was not a fan of Kaiser although he was a diligent worker. I could not say he was a diligent man, he just rubbed me off the wrong way.
“Yes, how can I help you?” I asked as I shuffled through the papers on my table. I had a lot of unattended work. It was definitely going to be a long day.
“Why him?” Kaiser suddenly asked, dragging my attention back to him.
“Sorry?” I was confused.
“Why did you marry such a low life? He is nowhere near your caliber” he said.
I could not help but scoff at his ridiculous question. “What is decide to do with my life Kaiser is none of your business, now would you excuse me I have a lot of work to do. ” I snapped.
Kaiser slowly walked out with a solemn expression on his face.
I had been working all day and was seriously exhausted but when I decided to go and get coffee to re-energize I ran into someone I never thought I would see again.
“Hey Zoya, long time,” he greeted.
The scumbag had the audacity to greet me, first of all, I wanted to know what the hell he was doing here and how he got here in the first place.
Saying his name actually made my mouth feel sour, I could not help but be uncomfortable by his presence.
“Anas, what are you doing here?” I asked, my voice laced with a little bit of animosity
