Chapter 215

Avery's pov
My heart hammers hard behind the comfort of my ribcage and my breath hitches at the very sound of his name. It felt like some kind of lone branch without leaves, those on the verge of collapsing under you when you shift too much weight, and when it does snap you hold ur breath until you fall.
The feeling was familiar.
The cold smirk widened when he heard my hitched breath, saw the way my demeanor changed as he stepped more into the room. The man behind him was shorter, eyes more human, eyes more telling of the deep anxious gleam that spoke volumes.Copyright by Nôv/elDrama.Org.
Volumes enough to set me more on edge.
This man who walks into the room, coming straight to me was not ordinary.
A quick recall of Xade and his father mentioning Alister's name made a cold sweat burst on my neck and trickle down.
My eyes fall to his feet, watch how he took every step deliberately slow. It was like he enjoyed watching me squirm under his eyes, and I do believe he did. I had a very strong feeling.
Fear pulsed through me like a raging fire, but I somehow could not look away from him when I brought my eyes back to his.
"Who- are you?" I stuttered and acted like I had not heard what the other man told him. I'd rather play oblivious when I had two strangers in the room with me while there was no sight of...Xade.
There was something about the way he walked and stared that made a sort of darkness and danger cling to him like a second skin.
"Who am I?" his eyes teased me cruelly where I lay like a log, a sweaty and very terrified log. My heartbeat roars through the room, each beat hard and fast as it bounces off the walls from the machine.
As soon as he stopped beside the bed I could sense it. The sudden cold chill in the room came from him. Darkness and danger. Two things that entwine into disaster.
I swallowed hard, a push of fear and unease slamming against my chest. My eyes dart to the door, not interested at all to hear what this cold man would respond with. I needed Xade. I wanted Xade.
"Where's," I swallowed another gulp, my throat parched and sore. "Where's Xade?"
I am not sure who I directed the question to, not that I cared to look at the two men in the room with me. No, my eyes were glued to the door desperately praying that Xade's familiar face would show up.
I wanted to see his smile, crave his words, hungered for his comforting touch. Prayed for his presence.
However, as the silence stilled with only my beating heart in the room and the chuckle of the dangerous man in front of me I knew that my prayers would not be answered anytime soon.
"Xade," he clicked his tongue and my teary eyes left the door I desperately prayed to, to his cold eyes. They froze me on the spot, sending a cruel chill down my spine like the ends of a knife on skin.
His eyes buried on mine, tombing me down with one final nail. " Xade left you darling," his eyes twinkled oddly. "He chose to leave you."
