Fine," he utters, sparing me a glance before he turns back around and leaves the room without another word.

I don't trust him," Xade snarls under his breath.

Xadeon gave him a firm squeeze on his shoul- der. "We know," He looks back at me and his mate, smiling.

"I'm happy to see you're healing up nicely Av-ery," his eyes flick over to his mate once more, a silent exchange passing between the two be- fore she rises from the bed, the warmth she shared with me leaving with her.

" We will leave you two alone to catch some rest," she whispered, smiling down at me with elation. They soon leave Xade and me in the quietness of the room, the door clicking shut behind them.

Xade settles beside me, grips me and pulls me flush against his warm body. He moves the few strands of hair on my cheek behind my ear and stared at me in worry. "You're scared."

I nod, looking at his chest. " So much has hap-pened in one day," I whispered, my fingers tracing circles and shapes on his skin. He tipped my chin up using his finger and his gaze soften.

"You have nothing to fear when I am here be-side you," he murmured, eyes shining with adoration and love. Then those stunning blues drop to my neck and he stares at it in awe, a grin beaming on his face. " You kept your promise."

I reach up to touch my neck, noticing how it was no longer burning as much. It was truly healing." Technically our baby healed me."

He chuckle, pulling my head on his chest where I can hear his heartbeat. " Even in the womb and he or she is already a force to be reckoned with," he joked. I smile and then frowned. "Will I be in danger? Will this Alister guy-

"No," Xade's grip tightened around me. won't let anyone treat you as an experiment."

I nod, worry still gnawing at me. I didn't know the ways of the werewolf world but this Alister sounded like he was above all the others. Xade sighed above my head as if knowing where my thoughts had gone too. His chin rests on my forehead.

"Don't think about anything right now. Get some rest," he kissed my head.
