Chapter 31 Danger, Mr. Grant! Danger!
“It’s here. My wrist hurts and I’m not helping you. Move it yourself.” Louise jerked a thumb irritably at the open storeroom door.
There were all premium ingredients arranged neatly in rows. Close to the door to the storeroom were several large, white boxes. Probably the seafood and beef that the old man wanted to give her and Matthew.
Louise then pointed at the boxes. “Take what you like. Grandpa knows you haven’t eaten this stuff before, so even if you take it all, Grandpa won’t say anything about it, and we won’t laugh at you.”
Blanca felt her face burn. Louise’s arrogant attitude and mockery seemed to slap across her face soundlessly.
The old man meant well, but in the eyes of the others, she was probably just some rube who hadn’t experienced anything at all.
Blanca had a big heart, but she also had her pride. Even she was upset with Louise’s mockery.
Still, if she just left like this, the old man wouldn’t be happy.
Then she could just take a bit with her. As for Louise, Blanca smiled at her and said mildly, “You’re right. I haven’t eaten anything nice like this before. But you see, if one should feel he gets to laugh at somebody, just because they’ve had their belly filled with high-end goods, really, it just means they were born with a proper platinum spoon stuffed into their mouth, am I right?”
“Who … who do you think you’re talking to!”
“You, of course.” Blanca’s face was cool and expressionless. At that moment, Louise suddenly had a strange feeling, like she was some maid getting scolded, while Blanca was some noblewoman instead?!
She grit her teeth. Then her face darkened, and she shoved Blanca hard, pushing her into the storeroom.
Blanca staggered forward and was about to turn when the door closed behind her.
“Louise Grant!!!”
Blanca turned around to slam against the door, but the temperature was just too cold inside. Her fingers felt like they were about to freeze off after two slams, while Louise sneered outside. “Let’s see if you keep your lip as an ice cube!”
“If you kill me, Grandpa won’t let you go!”
“Hah! I’m not dumb enough to admit it.”
After that, Louise’s footsteps receded into the distance. Blanca gnashed her teeth, but there was nothing she could do.
She took out her phone and was about to call Matthew, but there was no reception on her phone…
Blanca shivered. What was she supposed to do now?Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
She’d found on the way here that nobody usually came around this spot. Even if she yelled until her throat burst, nobody was coming to check on her.
If Louise told Alan and Mr. Johnson that she’d taken her pick and left, nobody was going to find her in the storeroom.
Sure, maybe the chef was going to come for ingredients when it was time for dinner, but dinner was several hours away, and it wasn’t a guarantee that anyone would come.
Blanca could only pray that she was still alive before she was found. To keep herself warm, she curled up, hugging her knees.
She was only in a thin dress, and regretted it to no end. It might have been better if she’d come in long pants instead…
Blanca thought back to Louise. This girl was both bold and ridiculously stupid. Did she really think she could escape responsibility for this?
It was getting colder and colder, to the point where her rage towards Louise was slowly being frozen over.
Blanca was getting drowsy. She knew she couldn’t fall asleep, but her body temperature was dropping along with her eyelids. She retreated into a corner of the room and no longer had the strength to keep her eyes open.
