Chapter 29 Give Me the Result
Benjamin summoned Dillon to his room.
"Dillon, I want you to investigate who paid those trolls to slander my mommy on the Internet."
Benjamin always had a childish look on his face, but this time, he was dead serious. "I want you to deal with those people who dared to speak ill of her!" "Yes!"
Without further ado, Dillon left.
Instead of doing what Benjamin wanted him to do, he headed to the study first.
"Sir, Bennie saw the online comments about Mrs. Ji."
Dillon stood with respect in front of Zack. "He wanted me to deal with them and find out who paid them to do so."
"Okay."
Zack sat in his swivel chair with his legs crossed. "Once you find out anything, I want you to show it to me first." "As you wish." Dillon nodded.
Truth be told, every time Benjamin asked Dillon to do something, the latter would tell Zack. Benjamin going to look for Daryl was an exception, though. Zack had been busy with the company's affairs at that time. When Dillon left, Zack closed his eyes for a moment to nap. However, the image of Daryl and Leon appeared in his mind.
His eyes flung open as he snorted, "Stupid woman!"
Daryl had been treated poorly by Leon during their five years of marriage, but she refused to fight back. If it weren't for his dominant genes, Benjamin would have been born as a passive and stupid person.
At that moment, he received a call from Rollins.
"Sir, Leon spent a lot of money and bought a meal for Karter. He heard that you're going to the Boss Club tomorrow."
Rollins spoke politely.
With a trace of contempt in his eyes,
Zack instructed, "Cancel tomorrow's schedules."
Rollins paused for a moment before he asked, "Sir, should I cancel all of your schedules?"
"Yes,"
Zack answered. "You and Hale deal with the company affairs tomorrow. I have something else to deal with."
"I got it, sir."
After the call ended, he stood up from his seat and walked out. He was about to head upstairs when his eyes fell on the room opposite his study. He stared at it for a bit as if he had remembered something. "Is Daryl asleep?"
Zack asked the maid who helped Daryl take a shower. "Yes, sir. After I helped her with bathing, she told Bennie a story and headed straight to bed," she replied.
"Okay." Zack nodded and was about to go upstairs.
The maid contemplated for a bit before she added,
"While I was helping her, I found a scar on her shoulder. It seemed like it was burned."
"Burned?" Zack frowned at the newly found information.
"Yes," she answered. "When I was in my hometown, my child got burned too. His scar is similar to what Mrs. Ji has."
"I see."
Zack dragged his long legs upstairs and went to his bedroom.
Morning came in a snap.
Daryl woke up at the time of her schedule and noticed a message from Sofia. She told her that she had no scene at the filming site today. Vivian advised her to just take a rest for the day. She didn't think too much about the message anymore. Now that her sleep was gone, she decided to just walk to the bathroom and freshen up.
She was about to go out of her room when she noticed that Zack and she opened their doors at the same time.novelbin
He must have had just finished exercising his body and changed into fresher clothes. There were still drops of water that fell from his jet-black hair. As usual, he was wearing his cold face again.
His casual dark clothes further emphasized his cold aura. Daryl's heart faltered when she bore her eyes into his deep orbs. She subconsciously lowered her head as she mumbled, "Good morning." Instead of acknowledging her, Zack ignored her presence and went downstairs.
Upon his cold treatment, Daryl stared at his retreating figure with relief in her heart. He was too withdrawn for her liking. If it weren't for Benjamin, this villa would have frozen a long time ago. After a moment, Daryl followed him and went down.
As soon as her foot made contact with the floor, a ball of golden fur welcomed her. It was the Golden Retriever.
"Mrs. Ji, its name is Maruko. It's very docile and won't bite you,"
Dillon said.
Daryl smiled at him before she turned to the puppy. "Well, it's quite cute."
As if the dog understood her compliment, Maruko wagged her tail at her and rubbed her body against her leg.
Daryl laughed at its silliness. She had always liked to play with dogs. Unfortunately, she was too busy in the past to raise one. When she married into the Lu family, she didn't have the chance there either because Katrina was allergic to the hairs of cats and dogs. "Good morning, Mommy!"
Benjamin ran towards Daryl and held her hand.
"Good morning to you too, Bennie." Daryl returned his greeting with a smile.
Zack, who witnessed their exchange of greeting, creased his forehead at them.
Zack was about to feed Daryl during their breakfast, but she picked up a toast and ate herself.
"Daddy, our food is very simple. I'm sure Mommy can handle it herself," Benjamin remarked thoughtlessly.
If his father refused to be nice to his mommy, then so be it! He would make his daddy regret this in the future!
Daryl was amused by Benjamin's comment. Anyway, she just didn't want to bother Zack anymore.
She didn't want to make him be enraged at her.
Daryl felt a shiver run down her spine as if a gust of cold air came in. She subtly glanced at Zack who was sitting beside her.
He was quietly moving his cutlery as he ate his food elegantly.
Zack wasn't upset, right? Daryl shook her head slightly and assumed that she was just thinking too much.
Once they had finished eating, the three of them sat on the sofa.
"Bennie, aren't you going to school?"
Daryl was confused. Benjamin was supposed to go to school while Zack should be at the company by this time. What were the odds that their free time coincided with her rest day?
