Meant to Marry Me

Miracle

Despite all of the drama that went on before the show started, once Bree got out on stage, everything else faded away. She was even able to let her frustration at Cat go so that the two women could sing together in harmony and even stand shoulder to shoulder while they sang some of the more complex songs, the smiles on their faces not quite as faux, thanks to the music, as they otherwise might've been.

The band sounded great, and the crowd was definitely enjoying the show. Bree could feel the energy from the audience pulsating throughout her body as she jumped up and down on stage, singing with all of her heart. By the time the concert was over, she felt like she was just getting started, and she didn't want to go.

They walked backstage, and Bree couldn't help but grin at everyone as they waited for the encore. "You guys, that was awesome!" she said, randomly giving high-fives to anyone who would stick their hand out. "We sounded so good." "God, I'll just be happy when this is over," Cat muttered. Her arms were folded again.

"What?" Bree couldn't believe her ears. "What do you mean? Weren't you having a good time?"

"No, I wasn't having a good time," she spat. "It's called acting. You guys are a bunch of jerks, and just being out on stage with you doesn't mean that I've forgotten that." She glared at the rest of their bandmates.

Bree's smile vanished. "Oookay..." she said, not sure what else to do. "Well, if you don't want to play on the last song, I guess you can head back to the green room."

"Oh, I'll play. It's my job to play, so I will, but I don't want these assholes thinking I haven't forgotten all the disgusting things they were saying about that other woman before we started."

"We said she was hot, that she had a nice body, and she was smokin'. That's it," Griffin said with a shrug that told Bree he didn't think it was that bad.

"You objectified her!" Cat retaliated. "You do that to every woman you see!"

"Not to you," Chase muttered under his breath, causing Griffin and Dominic to laugh.

Cat didn't think it was funny. She growled at them.

"Okay, guys, stop," Bree said, not really blaming Chase for being rude under the circumstances. Cat seemed angry at nothing. "Let's just finish the show on a high note, and we can meet in the morning to talk things over, okay?" "Fine," everyone agreed, but then Cat added, "not that it will make any difference."

Bree couldn't believe how disagreeable the woman was being. She'd never seen her like this before. She'd thought she was so sweet when she'd first met her, but now, she was being a real witch.

The stagehands signaled for them to go back out for the encore. Bree let everything she was feeling about her bandmates go and plastered a fake smile on her face. She hated the fact that the high she'd been feeling only a few moments ago was gone now, but she definitely wanted the audience to leave with good memories of a great show.

They launched into the last song, which was "Meant to Marry Me" as usual. As they played through it, most of the crowd sang along. Bree kept her energy up and the smile on her face. When they were done, she shouted, "Good night, St. Louis!" and waved before heading off stage.

Unfortunately, this time, she didn't have the enthusiastic smile like she did before. Cat had ruined that. Trent was waiting for her though. She headed over to him, and he enveloped her in a big hug. "You guys sounded awesome," Trent said. "Thank you." She'd wait until they got back to the hotel room to tell him what had actually happened. For now, she just hoped they could all get along on the ride back to the hotel without anyone shouting at anyone else. Shawna came over to lead them to the green room to get anything they'd left, telling them what a great show it would be. She said when they were ready, she would walk them out to the bus.NôvelDrama.Org owns all © content.

The band grabbed their bags and other items they'd left and walked outside, not much more than a few words between any of them. Bree hated how the mood had changed. There had to be a way to fix it. "Thanks for all of your help tonight," Bree said to Shawna at the bus door.

"You're so welcome," Shawna replied with a wide smile. "I just love listening to y'all. I've always wished I could be in a band like yours, but so far, nothin's panned out for me."

"Really?" Bree asked, gooseflesh standing up on her arms. "Do you play any instruments?"

"Yeah. I pick at the guitar and can play the fiddle a little." Bree nodded, thinking that was all she was going to say, but then she added, "I been playin' piano since I was four, though. That's my real passion." "You play piano?" Bree asked the woman, her eyes widening in surprise.

"That's right," Shawna assured her. "I love it. My dad taught me, and he played in all sorts of bands before he retired a few years ago. He used to play here. That's how I got this job. I keep hopin' one of these days I'll find a band that could use my skills, but so far, I'm just havin' fun visitin' with all the musicians who come in. Anyway, I'll let y'all head back to the hotel. We'll see you tomorrow."

"Yeah, I'll see you tomorrow," Bree agreed, knowing she still needed to make sure to text Shawna about their plans. She definitely wanted the girl to go with them, wherever they were going. And she just might be able to solve a huge problem she was having and make Shawna's dreams come true all at the same time.
