Shadow took great care in administering the medicine, her touch so gentle that it stirred something within him.
One thing led to another, and he couldn’t help but desire her touch.
After all, she was his wife, wasn’t she? Their actions were only natural.
His lips curved into a smile as he leaned closer, their breath mingling. He found himself becoming more entwined in her embrace.
However, Shadow didn’t share the same sentiments. In her eyes, he was just Alpha Dominic’s cousin!
He continued to tease and kiss her, pushing her beyond her limits.
Shadow pushed him away forcefully, creating distance between them. Her face turned cold as she spoke. “Alpha Dominic, I am your cousin’s wife! Even if you don’t like me, show some respect!”Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.
Despite taking a bullet for him, her animosity towards “Dominic” was waning, but she hadn’t expected him to act so presumptuously.
“Not liking you is far from what I’m feeling right now.” Alpha Kilian’s voice held a hint of enchantment as he rubbed his lips. “My sister-in-law, with my cousin, you’ll be nothing but a widow for the rest of your life. He can’t love you like a able-bodied man. Have you considered being with me?”
“The last thing I will do is consider being with you,” Shadow calmly refused.
Alpha Kilian surveyed Shadow, analyzing her. She had a plain face and an unattractive dress, nothing captivating.
But there was something about Shadow that he found irresistible.
Shadow realized she couldn’t sit idly by any longer. She needed to take action before “Alpha Dominic” became more audacious. Who knew what he might do to her?
“You should call someone to pick you up and leave, or I’ll call an ambulance and the whole world will find out about the attack on you.”
She spoke softly, not intending to threaten. She held her phone up, indicating she would follow through with her words.
Alpha Kilian looked at her, seemingly unperturbed. He closed his eyes as if he hadn’t heard her, feigning rest. Though his wounds weren’t as painful now, the pain still caused him to lose consciousness.
“Hey…”
Shadow couldn’t bring herself to say more. She bit her lip as she gazed at his pale face. Despite pretending to be strong during the operation, he had lost a lot of blood. She couldn’t bring herself to wake him up and kick him out.
Forget it. Let him rest for a bit.
While he slept, Shadow went to the market to buy food.
Although she was referred to as the “Third Lady” of the Eden Family, she didn’t receive the privileges that the title should entail. Most of the time, no one cared for her when she was ill. No one knocked on her door to check on her. When she was hungry, she had to fend for herself. To them, only two children in the Eden Family warranted attention. She was just an added burden.
So she had learned to take care of herself. She had managed well so far.
No matter how much she despised “Alpha Dominic,” she couldn’t risk letting him die in her presence.
She lived a serious life and worked hard for it. She had no intention of getting involved in murder, especially not being buried with him.
Reluctantly, she decided to make some food for him.
When night fell, Shadow woke up Alpha Dominic.
“Are you hungry? I made some soup. Would you like some?” she asked, keeping her distance, fearing he would make unwarranted advances again.
Alpha Kilian looked up at her, his voice strained as he replied, “Yes, please.”
Shadow placed the soup on a small table by his bedside and quickly stepped away.
She tried to avoid any contact with Alpha Dominic, but her single room was too small.
Aside from the partitioned kitchen and bathroom, there was a 1. 5-meter bed, a small folding table, a single sofa, and a few bookshelves. Only basic essentials took up most of the room.
No matter how far she retreated, she couldn’t escape Alpha Kilian’s line of sight.
Alpha Kilian glanced at her, slowly sitting up and pulling the blanket away, revealing the blood-stained bandages on his chest. He spoke casually, as if discussing the weather rather than his own life. “The wound has reopened. I won’t be able to eat on my own.”
Of course, it had to happen!
Although she didn’t want to deal with this man, she couldn’t bear to watch him suffer.
She took a step forward, one hand holding the bowl and using the other to feed him the soup.
This time, Alpha Kilian said nothing. He lowered his gaze and obediently swallowed the soup she fed him.
Silence enveloped the small room, only the faint sound of the spoon scraping against the edge of the bowl could be heard. Tension hung in the air, thick enough to cut.
