Chapter 27
Chapter twenty seven
Mia threw her arms around Lian’s neck, getting the best out of the kiss. She felt something knot together in her stomach as she felt her brother’s warmness. His hands were like steel around her small waist while his tongue explored her mouth.
Her breasts pressed hard against his chest and Lian felt like taking over her entire body. They both knew what they were doing was wrong but none of them had the will to stop the intense moment. What he was feeling for her was more greater than the kiss but there was still a string of restraint left in him.
They felt each other’s warmth and essence, seeping into one another. After some minutes of exploring each other’s mouth, they broke the kiss. Mia smiled satisfactorily, her eyes staring lovingly into Lian’s. She found the look on his face undefinable but she didn’t say anything. Lian tucked a few strands of hair that wandered over her forehead, behind her ears.
Then he smiled and they intertwined their fingers. “Let’s go.”
“Where have you two been?” Paige inquired worriedly as soon as she spotted the two.
“Nowhere. I and Mia just had to talk for a moment.” Lian replied, with his fingers still intertwined with Mia’s.
Paige and Grayson ignored it. That wasn’t the first time they intertwined fingers. It was a regular thing they always did. For Mia, it wasn’t the regular thing she did with her brother. It was the first time she did that with the man she was in love with.
“You two, go grab some paper lamps over there. It’ll soon be the wish minute.” Paige urged with a serious look.
It clocked the wish minute and everybody at that festival had their eyes closed, with their lamps in their hands, to make silent wishes. Mia was so eager to make a wish as she closed her before everyone did. Lian, however was literally the last to close his eyes. He seemed less eager to make a wish.
*I’m happy with my life now. I wish not to meet my mate anytime soon.* Mia wished happily.
The next minute, everyone opened their eyes and let their paper lamps off her grasps to let them fly up. Mia tugged Lian’s shirt, making him turn to her. “What did you wish for?”
“It’s a secret.” He regarded with eyes that left her curious.
“Ughh… tell me. I won’t tell anyone.”All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
“Secrets aren’t meant to be shared.” He muttered in a taunting way and she frowned.

Lian woke up from a nightmare in the middle of the night. He walked out of his room to get some drinking water but then stopped. Instinctively, he walked into Mia’s room to check up on her.
He didn’t switch on the lights and just walked to her bedside. The bright crescent moon outside shone into the room through the window. And it was the only source of light in the room. Lian noticed small beads of sweats on her forehead and that she was trembling, not violently though.
He sat at the edge of the bed and watched her for some minutes. And he realized she was having a nightmare. She was mumbling inaudible words also. He tapped her suddenly, awaking her from her sleep.
Mia woke up with a loud gasp. “Mia, are you okay?”
She sat up almost immediately. “Lian.” She called out in a whisper, as if she was surprised that he was there. She closed her eyes and let out a sigh of relief. “It was a dream.”
“What happened?” Lian asked. Mia opened her eyes, contemplating whether to say it or not. When she decided, she opened her mouth to speak. “A sword went through your heart.” Her voice shook and she felt chills as she said it.
Lian drew her closer in a warm embrace. “It won’t happen. You don’t need to be scared, go back to sleep.”
She shook her head. “I can’t. I’m even more scared to close my eyes. What if the scene continues in my next dream?” She said worriedly.
Lian let out a gentle, silent laugh. “That also, won’t happen. Don’t worry, I’m here.” He stated in a reassuring tone.
After putting her to sleep, Lian left the room and got dressed. Then he left the house, stealthily.

“It’s such an ungodly hour, Alpha.” Samara whined.
Lian sank into one of the sofas. “You and I know that doesn’t apply to beings like us.” He replied wittily.
Samara sighed softly. “I won’t offer you anything. Why are you here?”
“I’m here to find out more about what you said the last time. *The fight is not yours only* Is there someone else apart from you who has the will to fight against Giovanni?”
Samara worked up, with furrowed brows, she asked. “Wait a minute, how did you know I have a thing against him?”
Lian laughed. “Come on old lady, everyone knows he dumped you for your maid centuries ago.” He said in a tone of mockery.
“You impudent brat!” Samara swore angrily. She hated it when memories like that were brought up. It meant the reopening of the deep scar Giovanni had engraved in her heart. And for centuries to come, she’ll continue to resent him and never forgive him. If Lian wasn’t who he was, she would have turned him into statue right there and then. “Get lost if you’re going to spit nonsense here.”
Lian stopped laughing. “I’m sorry.”
There was silence for a while, which was meant to calm Samara down. When her anger melted away, she replied to his question. “There is, but what they have is not the will. It’s called obligation.”
Lian was taken aback. “Obligation? I am the only one who is obligated to fight against enemies.” He objected, perplexed about the reply she gave.
“You aren’t the only one, Lian.” Samara smirked. “The Luna of the diamonds pack — your mate, also has the obligation to fight.”
