Marrying my high school bully

Reassurance of his love

Lorraine

“Wakey Wakey.” Dexter sang loudly as his side of the bed dipped when he climbed on it. “Rise and shine, your majesty.” He clapped.

I rubbed my eyes slowly, the sun rays bursting through the window and reflecting on my face. I opened my eyes quickly to find a tray on the bed with a plate of omelette, bacon, two slices of pancakes and freshly made orange juice to go with it.

My lips stretched into a smile as I snatched the tray from him. “This looks so delicious. When did you have the time to make all of this?”

My mouth was already watering as I couldn’t wait to dive into the meal. While I slept like a baby, my man kept himself busy in the kitchen.

How good it was to see this adorable part of him all the time.

“Thank you for breakfast, Dexter. Have you had anything to eat?” I asked and he shook his head.

“Don’t bother about me, your satisfaction is my priority.” He stood up, duffed an invisible cap, then gave a mock bow.

I giggled as I bit into the hot pancake that had a creamy taste. “Come and have a taste of this, it’s really good.” I urged him on with my mouth full. “You should consider opening a pastry business, you know.” I joked as I fed him with the pancake.

“Then who would I leave the company to?”

Me?” I said in a suggestive tone and we both laughed over it.

I was almost sure that Dexter didn’t have enough to eat as I rushed the meal. He kept the tray on the bedside while I nibbled on my drink.

Breakfast was over, it was time for the conversation we’d been avoiding for the longest time.

“What do you know about my kidnapper?” I asked bluntly.

He dragged in a deep breath and moved closer to me. “Before I tell you anything, promise me that you won’t overreact over what I’m about to say.”

I squinted my eyes, wondering why he was making such a request. “I have to know what we are up to here.” Then he gave me a pleading look that I couldn’t refuse. “Alright, I won’t.”NôvelDrama.Org exclusive content.

“A few years ago, you were drugged at the club and a young man took you home. He planned to sleep with you but someone who looks like your stepfather stepped in. Can you remember that night?” He questioned and I shook my head.

I rarely went to clubs or even house parties. The first and last one I attended left an indelible mark I would never forget, so I wondered what would have made me go to a club the second time.

“I can’t recall going to a club, talk more of bringing a man to my house.”

He palmed his forehead and reached for his phone then passed it to me. “That should help you remember.”

I clicked on the video nonchalantly and began to watch. My eyes nearly popped out of their sockets as I stared at the sight before me.

A young man was forcing himself on me and I almost gave in. Seeing how dazed my eyes were, I could tell that I was drugged. But what bothered me was how I couldn’t recall what happened-or maybe I was beginning to remember.

I paused that video as a memory flashed in my mind. That was the night I ran away from my stepfather’s house and decided not to come back. I was barely eighteen years old.

My body shook with fear as I gazed at the video. “I’m beginning to remember.” I informed him, my voice tight with anger.

“Good, because someone sent him to do that and he was the same man who took you away.” Dexter said.

I squeezed my eyes shut in surprise as I quickly jumped to my feet, forgetting that I was naked beneath the covers. “What are you trying to say?”

He held my shoulder, bringing me close to himself. “You promised not to overreact.” He reminded me.

I flung his hands away as I retreated my steps. “How do you expect me to react?” I fired at him in anger. “Someone is out there planning on the best way to ruin me and you expect me to be calm?”

He seemed to understand my dilemma as he allowed me to rant till I was spent. “No one is going to hurt you again, not under my watch.”

A thought crossed to my mind as I stared at him. “Who is behind all of this and how did you manage to get the information that the cops have been struggling to gather for weeks now?”

“I have my ways.” He replied, a cocky grin spreading on his face.

“The truth, Dexter.” I demanded harshly.

“The person behind all of these is Liam. According to what the man told me.” He announced.

The ground spun under my legs as I dropped on the bed. “L-Liam? Your… your friend?” I stuttered.

He nodded. “He knows that I’m onto him so he escaped, but I won’t rest until I find him. He has to tell me why he has two incriminating videos of you.” He assured me, joining me on the bed and taking me into his arms. He played with the strands of my hair, caressing my scalp so I’d relax. “You don’t have to be scared, Lorraine. I’ll watch over you just as I’ve been doing.”

“And my stepfather? What if he decides to come out of hiding?”

The thought of having to see the cruel man face to face again made my skin crawl. He was pure evil and I wished that he’d never see the light of a new day each time I prayed.

“I don’t think he’s going to do that if he loves his life.” Dexter stated as a matter of fact.

“How are you so sure? Did you meet him recently?” I probed.

He looked away from me, hesitating to give answers to my questions. Obviously, he was hiding something from me that he wasn’t ready to share.

“Look, Lorraine-”

A knock resonated on the door and we glanced at each other. “Are you expecting anyone?”

“No.”

“Let’s go and find out then.” I scrambled to my feet and put myself in order, then headed to the living room.

I opened the door and froze. Dexter hissed behind me as I folded my arms. “What are you doing here, Emilia?” I barked and she did the unexpected and fell on her knees.
