Chapter 19 Single Mother
Natalie was confused by her brother's words.
"But Nathan!"
"Let's go Natalie."
It was rare for Nathan to show a stern expression. In addition to being vigilant, he looked at the man in
front of him with more hostility than a child of his age.
"We can buy it ourselves."
After saying this, Nathan pulled his sister away and lectured her, "You can't just casually take things
from a stranger. I've told you many times but you don't listen."
"But, Nathan, that man looks so handsome. He definitely isn't a bad person."
"He's not handsome at all."
"No, he's handsome."
Looking at the two children walking far away, William Montgomery straightened up, and his face looked
particularly cold in the rain. He handed the umbrella to the assistant following him.
"Mr. Montgomery, those two children…"
"Go and follow them, but don't do anything."
"Yes sir."
After watching the assistant follow the two children, William returned to the car and lit a cigarette while
rolling down the window slightly.
Not too far ahead was the entrance to the apartment building where Toby said he dropped off Emma.
The sound of the phone vibrating in the car rang several times as William took slow drawls of his Content rights belong to NôvelDrama.Org.
cigarettes. Toby was in the car with him as well.
"Mr. Montgomery," the driver cautiously reminded him, "Miss West has made a few calls."
William looked out of the window, his cold gaze distant.
The two children he had just seen at the pharmacy… The girl looked exactly like a miniature Emma.
As for that boy, he actually looked like himself. William's frown deepened.
He had been waiting outside the apartment building for the assistant to come back. From inside the car
window, he saw the little girl jumping all the way inside, followed by the little boy as they entered the
apartment building.
The assistant said, "Mr. Montgomery, these two children are quite smart. They told the people in the
pharmacy that they don't have a father. It's not easy for their single mother who can't find parking in the
rain. The little girl cried when she said those words."
Single mother. William's brows twitched.
He didn't know if she was really a single parent, or if it was all just a lie. However, regardless of whether
it was the former or the latter, he had to thoroughly investigate who the father of the two children was.
William glanced at the roof of the apartment building, his eyes now calm. He ordered the assistant,
"Find out the birth date of these two children and send it to my office tomorrow morning."
The assistant was stunned, but he immediately nodded, "Yes, Mr. Montgomery."
After a moment of silence, William Montgomery said, "Also, hire a P.I. I want a full report on Emma
Lang's past seven years."
Reminiscing about the past 7 years, William's heart started aching again. The sensation he's been
trying to get rid of all these years but failed.
Emma breaking up with him and leaving Rock City 7 years ago was the first time he experienced
heartbreak.
The heartbreak still isn't healed, even 7 years later.
The black car slowly drove out of the neighborhood, and William's eyes continued to look at the
apartment behind him in the rearview mirror.
Emma's return brought back a lot of feelings that he's been repressing. He could handle it when she
isn't in Rock City, but now that she's back… the emotions have all resurfaced.
He wanted an explanation, and she had to be responsible for that.
Meanwhile, in a mansion ten miles south of the apartment Emma lived in, a Hermes porcelain cup fell
to the living room floor and shattered. The tea splashed everywhere and the maids were frightened.
Jennifer West had made a few calls to William Montgomery, but he didn't answer the phone. Jennifer's
knuckles have turned white from clutching her phone.
She was looking at the footage from the security camera sent to her, it was the front door camera of
William's penthouse.
“No, I can't wait anymore. That bitch absolutely cannot stay in Rock City anymore,” Jennifer West said
to herself.
Jennife's face darkened. "Julie, I heard that Rachel Lang's birthday party is going to be held at Rock
City Regency Hotel this weekend."
"Yes." The maid, Julie, had been by her side since she was young. She was Jennifer's most trusted
person.
"Do you think Rachel Lang, who hated Emma since they were young, would take an opportunity to step
on her sister in front of their friends and family?"
"Miss, what do you mean?"
"Go, take out the thing from the safe. Emma hasn't been back in seven years, I should give her a big
gift for her return. "
When she thought about the thing she had put in the safe for 7 years, a cold smirk flashed across
Jennifer's face. She was afraid that Emma would come back, so she kept a fail-safe.
"Emma, it's your fault for coming back."
If William Montgomery could see the look on Jennifer West's face, he would not be able to recognize
her.
